Thought: I've never had a problem putting that grease on connectors and pins. I do separate and re-connect the connectors multiple times after cleaning treatment and after I grease them. So maybe I'm getting plenty of contact. My point is this does keep corrosion from ever getting to the pins.

Lower wind deflector
videoarizona replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hmmm...mine don't touch....about 1/8 inch off the fork tube on both sides. Just checked and no sign of cracking. Guess I'd better take them off and bend the mounts. Thanks for the reminder, Don! -
Finally decided to get caught up on repairs. First, background: Just after I got the bike, I was up in the woods on a dirt road and was turning around...backing the bike up off the crowned surface. Went to put left foot down while backing and nothing there. Down I went on left side...scratching and cracking the left side fairing just under the mirror. Boo Hiss! So finally decided to repair that area. First I put 6 layers of fiberglass cloth and epoxy on backside.... Then...added some thickened epoxy to top surface to fill in the cracks and give me material to "fair" the surface...ie...sand it down level to normal surface... Sorry picture is so blurry... then I sanded it down by mouse sander at 120 grit then by hand down to 2000 grit...silky smooth. And that is where I sit today. Color Rite sent out the wrong color..it seems they transposed two numbers....this is what they sent. MAK 5410 (she said it should be 5401) I sent the above picture and 3 others for them...plus the proper Yamaha code (again) and Daniela at Color Rite is going to make the correction (after confirming color) and get another bottle of spray color out to me. I must say their response has been very good so far. The kit is well thought out and complete. Only thing I didn't understand was the touch up pens: Didn't know if I needed to shake them (Yes) and how to clean the tips (Tips come out and can be cleaned with normal mineral type spirits...like a brush). In the meantime, I repaired one plastic vent vane and two tabs. Will touch up those areas as well. Then on to the rock chips on the front fender of the silver RSV. That silver is going to be a bear...ugh. Well...more learning ahead with the touch up pens!! So on hold until tomorrow....or next week when new color can arrives... To Be Cont'd....

Thanks, Jeff. Works good now. Nice ride.....looks sweet with the scenery changes! OOps...forgot to ask. Where did you mount the camera and how? Pics would help. I'm having troubles finding a good spot on the RSV.

Dion, I'm on Verizon with extender at my house as well. No choice. Does work... But then my MagicJack works too.... Both use internet. Not perfect but I like Verizon for their coverage wherever I go..... And my Motorola droid has been tough and flawless.

Naturally...I have a gazillion pens and not one has a chrome top like Eck's that I can rob to use for my opener. Grr... Well..on the shopping list. Great idea, Eck!

I like the idea as well....backlit controls and knobs. Be nice to have and be attractive as well.

Very close call, Jeff. Glad your Angel :2133:was with you on that day! I'm betting on the fender locking up steering. You were able to steer a touch by forcing the fender somewhat. Whew is all I can say!

Yep, Dan...feel your pain. Many local friends have had issues "finding" things...but once they found them...they were happy campers. Since I'm stuck on 7 Pro for a while longer I'm not sure if 10 has an emulate mode...ie...where you can run older games/programs in an older OS mode within 10. Maybe someone can chime in on that. But I do know you can revert back to the older OS you were running within a limited time frame. Call Microsoft...or send them an email from OS10 itself...

Skids Ordeal

Got a lot done on cabin today. Bushed. But not to tired to say: Prayers Up! -
I mentioned to Bill this morning that there is an issue with using the Class system. Page 2-39 of the service manual has a note: adjust front first, then rear. If reversed, residual high pressure air can leak into front forks. I'm not sure if this was Bills problem with his front getting hard..... But... It could be an issue for anyone of us.... The next question would be... Could we accidently put to much air in front shock this way to blow a seal? Would this much residual air pressure be available to do that? I don't know.... Anyone have a thought? @KIC, sorry I wasn't in town this morning to help. You know I love getting grease under the nails!! Hope your 1st gen is back on two happy feet!!

2004 Venture Rear Shock & Radio
videoarizona replied to Twodog35's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The radio mutes a little when the CB receives a signal so you can hear the CB. Do you have the squelch for the CB set to low so it thinks it's getting a signal all the time? Try setting the squelch around 12 to 15...then plug yellow CB connector back in and see if radio works properly. I'm now going to contradict myself cause the cb has a separate volume control so it can override the radio if you turn the CB volume up loud enough. That's one of the confusing things about a 2nd Gen remote...it can do multiple things depending upon what button you push first. Look and see if the mic button is pushed in on left handlebar behind the clutch lever. -
Rear Passenger seat/backrest
videoarizona replied to Twodog35's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well in looking at the Corbin web site...they don't have anything to support her lower back. That is her complaint...hence the round pillow and foam I can stuff in between the travel trunk and the seat back giving her even more support on lower back. Wonder if I can make something that will screw in place of the wiring cover and offer support. Have to think this through... -
Rear Passenger seat/backrest
videoarizona replied to Twodog35's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Suggest you check the trunk first as Bongo mentioned. That will help alot. Should be some pictures on the site and a "How to" thread as well. Second, my wife/mate is petite as well....and she made a simple round "tube" made of foam and a sunbrella type material. Gives her some pressure on lower back. My lady turned down the idea of backrests...doesn't like to feel trapped. -

1989 VR Color Paint
videoarizona replied to videoarizona's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Great news! Color Rite still has the formula so they will make up the color for me and ship. I bought the aerosol spray package...so everything is coming my way within 4 to 5 business days. I did suggest to Color Rite that they publish the old codes for VR's from 83 to 91 on web site...with a notation to call them to see if the color is available. I told them about our web site and the hundreds of us around the world who could use this information... But even if they don't do this, I do suggest you call them if you need some paint for your VR. Thank you @Freebird and @yamagrl for the suggestion to contact them! -
Sorry to hear today was one of those days, Charles. I hate it when I have a day like that!
