I lost the battle. I have to pay shipping. So much for Color-Rite... -

Well...not so good news from Color-Rite. It seems they did send me the right formula..only it wasn't the right type of paint. The Yamaha paint formula is based on lacquer paint. It seems lacquer paint is against the law in California. Color-Rite's ONLY formulation plant is in California. David can't get the proper color paint for his bike due to the idiots in California. OF course, Color-Rite isn't very smart to be based out of there either with this kind of regulation hurting their business, but I digress. Especially since they can no longer make or sell paint based on older color lacquer. David isn't a happy camper. My choices are to send them a part for matching...and no...they are not willing to be responsible for the part while it's in their hands (smart decision that)...and wait up to 3 weeks ... or get a refund after I send the products back at my expense. I suggested that wasn't going to fly. They can pay for shipping back to them. No decision on that yet. So there we are. Guess I'll go for the refund unless someone has a small piece of 1989 plastic body in Dull Blue Cocktail they want to ship to Color-Rite for me. Now to find another paint supplier that isn't located in California......and understands customer service a wee bit better than Color-Rite. Stay tuned.... -

Great! Don't forget pictures. We have a saying here: "If there aren't any pics, it didn't happen." Grins!

Inovative police crackdown on texting and driving
videoarizona replied to Beau-Kat's topic in Watering Hole
Pima County here in Tucson area just made it illegal to text and drive. We have to many bicycle and motorcycle people getting hit by cars in Tucson. Good on Austin, TX! -
> No, not hurting the bike at all if the clutch basket/straight cut gears is the source of the whine. Suggest you do the normal things we all do when getting a new scoot. Oil Change, grease things, etc., Manuals can be found here on site...download and enjoy getting to know your new scoot. When done...then start looking into issues that bother you... Oh and join up! Best $12 you will ever spend. We are here to help... [/color]

Pucster....she really is a very pretty scoot. Nice that you two were able to get together. Now #6 has an exciting life ahead of her. Miles to go before she sleeps. Lots of scenery to see and explore. Very nice....congrats to the Pucster family!!! P.S. now that you have working vents, don't forget to open them when you park so the engine heat doesn't melt the plastic vent! BTW, that's another thing my wifemate likes about the 1st gen over the 2nd gen...adjustable heaters for winter riding!

Thought: I've never had a problem putting that grease on connectors and pins. I do separate and re-connect the connectors multiple times after cleaning treatment and after I grease them. So maybe I'm getting plenty of contact. My point is this does keep corrosion from ever getting to the pins.

Lower wind deflector

Hmmm...mine don't touch....about 1/8 inch off the fork tube on both sides. Just checked and no sign of cracking. Guess I'd better take them off and bend the mounts. Thanks for the reminder, Don! -
Finally decided to get caught up on repairs. First, background: Just after I got the bike, I was up in the woods on a dirt road and was turning around...backing the bike up off the crowned surface. Went to put left foot down while backing and nothing there. Down I went on left side...scratching and cracking the left side fairing just under the mirror. Boo Hiss! So finally decided to repair that area. First I put 6 layers of fiberglass cloth and epoxy on backside.... Then...added some thickened epoxy to top surface to fill in the cracks and give me material to "fair" the surface...ie...sand it down level to normal surface... Sorry picture is so blurry... then I sanded it down by mouse sander at 120 grit then by hand down to 2000 grit...silky smooth. And that is where I sit today. Color Rite sent out the wrong color..it seems they transposed two numbers....this is what they sent. MAK 5410 (she said it should be 5401) I sent the above picture and 3 others for them...plus the proper Yamaha code (again) and Daniela at Color Rite is going to make the correction (after confirming color) and get another bottle of spray color out to me. I must say their response has been very good so far. The kit is well thought out and complete. Only thing I didn't understand was the touch up pens: Didn't know if I needed to shake them (Yes) and how to clean the tips (Tips come out and can be cleaned with normal mineral type spirits...like a brush). In the meantime, I repaired one plastic vent vane and two tabs. Will touch up those areas as well. Then on to the rock chips on the front fender of the silver RSV. That silver is going to be a bear...ugh. Well...more learning ahead with the touch up pens!! So on hold until tomorrow....or next week when new color can arrives... To Be Cont'd....

Thanks, Jeff. Works good now. Nice ride.....looks sweet with the scenery changes! OOps...forgot to ask. Where did you mount the camera and how? Pics would help. I'm having troubles finding a good spot on the RSV.

Dion, I'm on Verizon with extender at my house as well. No choice. Does work... But then my MagicJack works too.... Both use internet. Not perfect but I like Verizon for their coverage wherever I go..... And my Motorola droid has been tough and flawless.

Jeff...video is blocked because of copyright issues...must be the music. Try again without music...we don't need it anyway to enjoy the video... david

Naturally...I have a gazillion pens and not one has a chrome top like Eck's that I can rob to use for my opener. Grr... Well..on the shopping list. Great idea, Eck!

I like the idea as well....backlit controls and knobs. Be nice to have and be attractive as well.

Very close call, Jeff. Glad your Angel :2133:was with you on that day! I'm betting on the fender locking up steering. You were able to steer a touch by forcing the fender somewhat. Whew is all I can say!

Yep, Dan...feel your pain. Many local friends have had issues "finding" things...but once they found them...they were happy campers. Since I'm stuck on 7 Pro for a while longer I'm not sure if 10 has an emulate mode...ie...where you can run older games/programs in an older OS mode within 10. Maybe someone can chime in on that. But I do know you can revert back to the older OS you were running within a limited time frame. Call Microsoft...or send them an email from OS10 itself...

Interesting about those plugs.....I would not be a happy camper. Glad you were able to get them out! Have had Ford/ Mercury...no more. Not reliable. Dodges and Chryslers...constantly replaced water pumps, alternators, brake rotors, etc... And now my first GMC, Yukon XL. After 11 years and 165k miles.... I'm sold on GMC. Other than replacing belts and hoses at 100k, everything else is original. Still have good brakes, alternator, power steering, water pump. Replaced daytime lights with LEDs..originals burned out all the time. Rest of bulbs still good. Oil changes and tires... That's it. And my Yukon XL still gets 19/20mpg on the road and loves pulling the 2.5ton sailboat. Plus... I've had two dealers and both have been excellent fit the normal services I've required.
