Yeppers. Think I have a leak in right front. 05 RSV. Noticed a small puddle on floor that was oil...under the right center of front end. Subsequent investigation discovered oil film on the tire side of the lower fork tube. Looks like it "might" be leaking from in between the inner and outer lower tubes. To me, that's a seal leak?? Bike has been sitting for 2 weeks on side stand...no leaks before. So in looking through 7 pages of posts regarding fork seal leaks and front end issues, I've come to the conclusion that 2nd Gen fork oil leaks are not common. In fact, there was only a couple of mentions...that's it. And one of the mentions said he was going to the dealer for repair. I'm in that same box...thinking maybe the dealer might have a better handle on it than I. Since I've never, repeat never, done anything with forks. I did lower the front end...and that doesn't bother me...but going beyond that on any scoot...nada...never done it. Other thoughts: Have 58,500 miles on 05. Have never had any feeling the front end was soft, bad or not functioning properly. In fact, 9 months ago, I put a 14 hour day on the scoot which included over 100 miles of State Rt 191, the Devils Highway with some serious 10 mph hairpin turns throughout. I keep air pressure at 38-40 in front tire with zero air in shocks. Most of my riding has been 1 up...but even 2 up...there were no indications of handling problems (other than normal slow speed stuff). So...ideas and thoughts are appreciated. Oh. Picture of a little thing I found on Internet. For pilots...but I like them for myself. Sure keeps me from trying to ride off with Carbon One's lift adapter under the bike! I'm sure most of you can understand what I mean by that... "Golden Years" my butt!

James, I'm not an expert with valves but your logic and conclusions do sound good to me. To me though, the next step would be to check the valves anyway then take the heads off...just to see where you are at with old heads? That seems like the next logical step. Be good to know where you are at with old heads and to write down what shims you have in those heads for future reference. Or, as you suggested, just move on to VMax heads and check those valves? I'm inclined to say...check old heads first...you are already 3/4 of way there... My .02! Now to try and find where my first leak is coming from on my 05 RSV...sigh...always something!

Saw this trike conversion 1st Gen in Green Valley this morning. He was heading south on the East access road at Continental and Interstate 19. I ran up and asked him if he was on the site, he said no. I gave him the site name. No business cards on me and the light had turned green. So had to let him go. Let's hope the gentleman comes by to visit and stays a while!

Went for a breakfast ride again on the 89 this morning. It's so nice to cruise the highways at 75mph and relax.... (I was really just checking the front end to make sure it was still stable after putting the original fork brace back on...hehe)

CW, yep...my horns both sit on the bracket bolt. Doesn't seem very strong but both have been on for a while and no issues yet. I just cranked it down snug and done. If you feel insecure about the mount, safety tie the horn bracket to the scoot. At least it won't fly away that way...

Richard, Glad to hear you are mending! I think this is the part the bothers me the most anymore...regardless of what I'm driving/riding....deer or other large animals jumping out in front of us at speed. I'm slowing down even more in my Yukon XL when I'm up in Payson due to lots of elk running the roads. Scares me cause there usually is no warning... Good idea to take some time off and relax from riding. But hope you stick around here... Sorry to hear about Ruby. But she gave her all for the two of you...

I have an original GoPro and have no problems moving my videos around from DropBox and back. So I would ask the guru's on Photobucket if there is a file size limitation per file or a format issue... BTW, all of my GoPro videos are already mp4 format. HD.

Welcome! I live about 150 miles south of @Van River. He is toward Jerome in the West side of Phoenix. I am committed to bring the 89 Beastie up to Phoenix one of these days when it's cooler so @Van River and I can ride together. Maybe a nice breakfast ride to Wickenburg! May not happen until Christmas vacation... But we will do this! P The Pucster did give me a name for the 89, but she rejected it. She likes Blue Beastie, but I'm not sure I do. Guess I should let her have her way, she has been very good to me!

Doesn't look like mine..... with four lights. Hard to say if it will fit.... Fender may be in way for that chrome bar that holds turn signals? The one I have has only two lights and bolts right on to license plate bracket...

Welcome James! Thank you for the SuperBrace and lunch! I love that last picture... the shock was whispering in my ear that she hopes you will install her in Azzi as she can't wait to pull wheelies with that VMax motor!! She misses her motor cousin!! I forgot! @cowpuc .... Thanks for the "hi". The "Best" back at you!

Here too. It's a bit warm for me to ride during day anymore. Seems the ole built in AC system doesn't work as well as it used to. So I ride early morning in GV... Or after 9pm in Phoenix area. Supposed to ride tonight out to Bartlett Lake. Not sure if I'll make it. Thunderbumppers to the northeast... May work their way southwest. Besides, I'm tired! @Van River kept me yakking during lunch... about wore me out. Smart man that Van River! (Kidding.... :beer:Had a good lunch with James! Got to see Azzi, her Honda cousin and a near new 1300 motor...ready for V Max conversion!!) Great day! Thanks for lunch, James!!! And thanks for the SuperBrace. Pat thanks you for getting the windshields out of her house!!

Ever wondered what it`s like to ride on a racing outfit ?

Whew.....! -
Read somewhere last year that Yamaha is selling an articulated scooter for urban riding in the Philippines. Had similar front end but the wheels were closer together. Same suspension idea though...... Good idea for us "older" riders! Guess $13k installed isn't bad. Wonder how that will work with our fairings??

Blanking Windows 10 Sucks Goodbye I no longer have a computer
videoarizona replied to Yammer Dan's topic in Watering Hole
I second Malwarebytes. Like that program a lot. Yammer...The point of this is simple...you've been hacked. Someone got a trojan or a script malware into your computer and locked it unless you pay the "ransom demand". If you write down the info you see on your screen or take a picture of it....then using another computer or ipad or phone...Google search the wording. Chances are you will find the offending program/script that you see and very detailed instructions on how to get rid of it. If this isn't to your liking, then you do need to take your puter to a tech and let them deal with it. BUT, I would ask the tech's via phone what experience they have. No sense paying someone to learn what to do....you can do that yourself...for free. As @yamagrl says...it is hard to protect against these things. Windows 10 is an excellent operating system. Far better than Win 8...and even a bit better than Win 7. Though I'm sticking with Win 7 Pro for now as all my editing (music and video/film) software runs superbly on it and not willing to change right now. Slight explanation/rant that has nothing to do with Yammer's problem: I've had PC's all my life (well before PC's were around there was Commodore and Altair, but that isn't germane to this discussion), and the big problem with PC's is they are open software...meaning...Microsoft has left the software open for other companies to develop software for them. This leads to sloppy programming in some cases, with vulnerabilities wide open. Apple does not do that, they have very strict rules for writing and if you won't abide by them, you can't port your program to Apple computers. Hence, PC's are more vulnerable to attack. Besides, with only a few percent of the world's computers, Apples aren't worth hacking. Let's face it, there are many more targets and far easier targets with the PC's. Seriously....and the hackers do just that. My daughter loves her MAC, I like my PC's...we do have problems at time exchanging data and that gripes me, but it is what it is. As far as being used in the media business, more PC's are in use in music and movie making than MACs....in fact the rendering farms used for today's movies are all HP's. Faster, more powerful and far cheaper. FWIW..... -
Cold Starting Problem
videoarizona replied to TRF VENTURE's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well if the choke linkage is working then look into the plugged idle jets as Goose suggested. Question: Did this problem surface after new filter, etc.? If yes, then go back and double check what you did. If no...then probably got some gunk in fuel that broke loose during your maintenance and plugged up the pilot jets or some foreign debris in the new filter, etc.. Easy to do....tiny little jets. Seafoam. -
You will need an SWR meter, adapter cables/connectors. You put the meter in line with the antenna using the adapters. Follow the meter instructions...which basically means calibrate the meter then check the SWR ratio with a brief transmit. Adjust the top of the antenna (loosen tiny set screw on antenna coil) and move the top portion of the antenna up or down to get the lowest SWR. On some antennas that are not adjustable, you cut the antenna with snips. Take off the meter and adapters and plug everything back together. That's it... For more info, search this site... Of course if you happen to live near a truck stop that has a CB shop...drive in and let them do it. One word of advice....do not do this in your carport or garage...do it in the open. Works better.

Another day. Going to clean both scoots today. That's it. Too much to do around house...grrrrr.

Took tailight apart, cleaned contacts on 89. 05.... Just looked at it.

Disagree Sir Bongo of Bob. Unless I misunderstood, I have Barons risers with stock bars. I moved the rubber pucks and rotated then so they fit snug then used clear rtv to cement them to inner fairing. They are quite snug and help a lot in keeping the inner fairing from flexing. @ freebird.. You can rotate bars up some. Pics show how much room available for me at this bar position. But my front end is lower by 3/4 inch...my arms are about level....5'10". Ah...just remembered...I had clearance issues as well. Solved by adding a large flat washer between inner fairing and the two nuts/ bolts that hold inner fairing to frame. That tilted inner fairing forward just a tad and gave me lots more room between bars and fairing.... @Lug Nut, yes ... I lowered my front by 3/4 inch and stock cables worked fine for me.

Got lever! Thanks Scott. Hopefully I'll have time to do some bending next week. I'm due back in Phoenix in two days... Thursday pm... Then back in Pine Friday night for ribs at Sidewinders then more deck work on Payson cabin this weekend. Not sure I like this retirement stuff..... To busy to do things!!
