  1. Update: Finally got home today. Took the seats off and looked at the adapters/connectors and such that was under them. I ordered the connectors from Steve here on the site and added them to the rear in case I ever add a hitch and then in the front as well under the fairing where I wired in the LED reflector lights as running/turn lights. Everything fine there... The left front LED reflector light wasn't working so I took the fairing off and was poking around and found one connector had pulled out and it was the hot lead for the led reflector light!! Crossing fingers that was it, I plugged it back in, tie-tied it in place just in case it comes out again, and fired up the bike. Ran for about 5 minutes, testing turn signals, brakes front and rear and all together. Fuse didn't blow. Decided to rebuild a tab on the plastic chrome strip for the windshield....so tomorrow I'll test again and then put back together. Maybe grab a quick ride before it gets to hot just to make sure that was the problem. Thankfully...it was a little thing! (hopefully)
  2. Two thoughts: My buddy who rides the HD Ultra recently bought a new HD top of the line tire. He plugged it. He doesn't have much cash and spent a bit for that tire. Plug technology is sound. You only have two tires underneath you. I don't know what I would do. His plug is holding after a month of hot days riding....
  3. If they are such good scoots, why are they selling? They aren't old, don't have any mileage on them..... What's wrong here? Don't get me wrong, they are great bikes... But I'm curious....
  4. I have a big Sears compressor. Same thing... Valve for the air hose gets hard to turn now after ten years. But only when there is pressure in the line. Wonder if it's dirty or just worn out...
  5. Had that happen to me on VStar.. At full throttle. No problems with belt.
  6. Interesting article on comparing drives. I replaced the rear tire on my VStar 95Tourer last month. The belt was easy to get to. Hoping the new Venture is designed same way. There is no reason the rear end has to come apart just to replace a belt!
  7. Yammer, that should do it. Those reed valves get weak. Also check the gaskets at all joints and the rings. Rings can get sloppy and leak air as well. But, let's hope the kit solves the problem!
  8. The above article answers all the questions. Nice. Thanks!
  9. :sign yeah that:my friend with the HD Ultra wont ride down dirt roads..... Get a stone in the belt... You are toast. I have no problems with belt drive. I'm not taking a 900 pound beast out in the desert anyway.
  10. [h=2] Re: New Star Venture[/h] Oh.. cowpuc's response was "poop" !
  11. Oh.. @cowpuc's response was "poop" !
  12. I do like it. Shame on v4 but I'm ok with air cooled. No more plumbing issues. Like the combined braking with abs, standard heated seats, low ride height, forward and reverse power assist for parking, traction control, riding modes, integrated audio system, voice, touch screen or handle bar controls for audio, controls, winds protection adjustable, advanced throttle, all electronic no more cruise cables or throttle cables, six speed, belt drive, same length as RSV but heavier. Also really like the huge alternator... Over 700 watts! All in all I think they did a good job!!!
  13. @cowpuc "Puc will be wearing his WV international shirt." So we need to keep our eyes open!!
  14. Latest news from@cowpuc: "They are having two unveilings with a show between them. Please post on venture rider that puc will be in the show!"
  15. Scott and Tippy are in the front row..... Waiting!!! Yay @cowpuc!!!

  17. The CMU is mounted on the dash panel... Take out panel, flip over and unplug the connectors, unscrew the screws holding unit to panel, take CMU out. Use Dingies pics above to solder across the points carefully. When done, you will be able to change all bulbs to led and not have any warnings. For the headlight, you need to jumper the RLU..... Reserve lighting unit. Black thing mounted in same area as dash. Right in front under windshield. Disconnect the connector. Jumper the connector as per my post last week. 4 jumpers. Now the RLU is no longer in circuit and the computers are happy campers.
  18. Great advice guys but he says he's challenged by electrical issues. Anyone near him to help with learning how to do this? Regardless.... Think you need to find a way to throw in a new plug on#4.
  19. Yea.. With a mk1 looking front end. That would be interesting.. For sure!
  20. Thought I would have some fun so I watched as a fuse blow. Twice.

  22. BTW, the latest email from Yamaha features a picture of the right rear... definitely a touring scoot.
  23. Yikes!!! So good to hear Becky is ok! Give her lots of hugs, Bob. Gently though!
