  1. Stat, not sure I understand. Didn't like the broview? If that's the case, what didn't you like?
  2. My take on the 2 brush starter. No one has mentioned this little tip. Keep the cables connections clean and you won't have much of a problem. Every once in a while, my starter will struggle for a second then start the motor. Otherwise, it starts just fine. Even on a hot day after fuel, she might hesitate, but always has started. As far as the gas tank...... You should be able to take the seat off and take off the sending unit. Then clean the tank from there. Can probably get it pretty clean. Granted, you can't take it and shake it... But I would "venture" a guess most of the crud will be in bottom of the tank...under the sending unit area.
  3. See if you can see the diode values on the old ones, then build the pack yourself. Nothing more than one or more diodes soldered together in one direction. Diodes are usually marked as to direction. Maybe someone here can figure out values.... As to where to buy? Any electronics place should have them. Very common. Shame Radio Shack is gone.... They were my main source for little parts like diodes.
  4. On page H10 of the RSV parts pdf, it shows the diode assembly comes off the main wiring harness near a fuse block. I'm not so sure I would trust that, but if you look under the tank, on each side of tank and below where the main fuse assembly is, it might be there. It simply going to look like a small sealed unit coming out of the harness. At the end of the short wires will be a little bulge...the diodes. At least that's what I picture in my brain. That said. Diode assemblies rarely go bad unless the electrical system was shorted. In this case.... This set of diodes makes sure power to the sidestand switch is going the right way and doesn't come back wards. I would test the sidestand switch first as that's a more common failure. The manuals and parts pdfs are downloadable from this site for free.
  5. @bongobobny, You said: "The output of a stator is AC volts, just like a generator because, in essence, that is exactly what it is! " I do believe, Sir, that you meant to say it's an alternator. A generator puts out DC volts, am alternator puts out AC volts. Of course, my memory could be gone in this area as well! Grins...but that's what I remember from electricity 101...
  6. If I'm following all this...it seems like I should just stick with the cable. Being connected with a cable is no big problem but I get bi-directional audio in exchange. Since I use ear buds using the Edset adapter, I get clear audio and very little wind noise in my ears. I need that protection as my hearing loss from my younger DJ days on radio is significant and don't want any more hearing issues. BTW, The Costco Kirkland 7.0 hearing aids are a blessing for me. Have had them for 2 weeks now and can hear again!
  7. Got the receiving idea....but what about transmitting on the bluetooth units back to the CB or intercom?
  8. Geesh. Tom, if this was meant for me...my apologies as I just read it. No...never met him!
  9. Annie, It was our pleasure to meet you and Alan! We now understand first hand what forum members say when they meet up with other members..."Such good people"!! You and Alan are just that....great people! Have a safe drive on your tour of the rest of the USA and see you in 2 years! (Grins - unless we fly out to visit with you!) david & pat
  10. Is this what you are looking for? http://www.edsets.com/bluestreak.php Call them about the Venture..it says it's available for the RSV
  11. OK...I see it. Thanks Bob!
  12. Interesting! I tried that and got this number: 5395758! Hmmm....guess I haven't joined yet...I'm a future member....
  13. You can run another antenna line back to the antenna from the radio. Easy to do and probably buy one premade at a CB shop near some truck stops. Or buy a twist on RF connector, an RF barrel and another RF twist on connector. Add some more wire and run that to the antenna. Yes you are adding connectors to the antenna lead, but thankfully am/fm radio doesn't really mind. As long as you get the connectors on properly, you won't add any noise...
  14. Yep....there's oil in them thar carbs....at least once upon a time!
  15. Puc, if you get on 191...stay on it heading south. In a few days you will be close to me. Come on by! Grins!

  17. Yesterday, went for a ride on the 89. Took same ride this morning....only this time on the VStar 950T. The 89 was a little hard to start...just cranked. I remember now I should have cycled the fuel pump a few times to fill the carbs. Yep it's been a while for both scoots. Pictures on same road. Elephant Head rd on the way to Mt Hopkins. The VStar is parked at the Picnic area near the Observatory's public entrance. The summer monsoon rains have left the desert nice and green again. Easier on the eyes, for sure.
  18. If you are leaking from the drain, your float is probably stuck. Be careful cranking over the motor...don't want it to lock up from fuel. It also looks like your the top of your manifold piece is either loose or has been leaking at one point.
  19. Ladies and Gents, @KIC's son in law passed away this past Sunday. He was an 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper. He served 3 combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He passed away at home. He was 37 years young. Asking for prayers for Bill, his daughter and family, as they go through this hard transition in their lives. Prayers UP!
  20. Will do....might take me a while(a few days) if I can't get to it today. Update: @Flyinfool, Looks like about 7/8inch from front screw, right side..... And about 3/4 inch from rear most screw The tank has a plastic type cover over the weld seam along the bottom. I measured to the inside of that. Hope this helps...
  21. Traveling cross country on my YDS6C, 250cc, pulled off road in the South and parked near a group of Harleys. One guy came over, saw my little scrambler, and invited me to join. This was in 1969. I was just out of USAF basic on way to Arizona for direct duty. I was a bit scared as they were rough looking. They have me a dose of ribbing, but they were amazed I was touring on a 250. I sleep well that night! I do think they were grateful I was taking a detour to visit a lady friend the next day so couldn't ride with them!! Just three months before, riding across Mississippi, stopped in Jackson for lunch. Had long hair. Got lousy service. This time, coming out of basic after picking up my bike in same state at friends house, I stopped there again and got great service. Same waitress. Asked her if she remembered me. She didn't until I showed her my license Pic with long hair. She's was embarrassed. I left without saying another word. Moral: the bikers were more accepting of me with short hair then the general population with me and long hair. 1969. Oh.. Found a really good picture of a YDS6C.... Guy in England restored it! Beautiful job...
  22. Easiest way to tell if the front end of your RSV has been lowered is to see if the top of the shock is level with triple tree. If it's level, the front end is at factory height. If the top of the shock is above the triple tree the front had been lowered. These shocks are above the tree, so this front end lowered.
