  1. 1: Mounted between the sensor and the speedo. Unplug the connector, plug in the DRD and done. Sorry I'm 150 miles away from my scoot otherwise I would take a picture... 2: No housing. It's protected by a shrink wrap stuff....very well done. 3: assume so since my mpg's have gone down now that my speedo is correct. 4: No you don't. You can do the math. On the web site you can clink on a link that takes you to the adjustment page. Either enter the gear ratios, etc., or enter the gps/speedo speeds and it will calculate for you and give you a % of correction. It's all explained on the web link I sent...
  2. Should be...it's what's on my 05rsv....grins...
  3. Back in my day.... Gas was .25/gallon and the service was free...clean the windshield, check the tires, check the oil.... Back in my day... My 5th grade class had real ink wells with ink on the desk...upper right corner. The quill pens were only used for penmanship. Remember penmanship??? Thanks Miss Hickey! Back in my day... I have great memories of growing up...Dayton, Fairbanks, Guam, Portsmouth...I was a lucky kiddo.
  4. With the tank badges off my RSV, I get those HD comments a lot. I just smile and say, "No...it's a Royal Star Venture, V4 powered."
  5. I've run the 12 O'Clock Labs SpeedoDRD's on 3 scoots now....and can say it's perfect. It's tiny, plug N play, very easy to calibrate and works. It's adjustability can get you down to as accurate as you want to be. Plus, I've heard Motomummy's warrantee service is excellent. It's now running on my 05RSV. Very pleased.... Model Y1. I mounted mine under the seat where the speedo connector is... Believe it's on sale now as well.... https://www.motomummy.com/chain-kits-with-steel-front-and-rear-sprocket/12-oclocklabs-speedodrd/?gclid=CIWaoIXx0rUCFYtU4Aod0G4ADg
  6. I'm glad to hear you've got a good Doc! Take care of yourself and Prayers UP! P.S. On the good side....Now you will have down time for designing our fuel injection system! Grins!
  7. Great ride, James, and the bike is very pretty, too! She looks as tall as a 1st Gen in the saddle. Now how can I get up there and ride with you next summer...hmmm...??? Thanks for sharing.
  8. Holy Crap! Here's hoping all goes well.....Prayers Up!
  9. The VStar 950 Tourer rode off into the sunset to a new home today. Gentleman is getting back into riding after raising his family came today and bought her. Sniff...she was a great ride. If anyone ever wants to know about a smaller Yamaha (640lbs) that is easy to ride, dependable as usual and gets 50mpg's on the freeway at 75mph....I can recommend a VStar 950 Tourer or 1300 Tourer.
  10. Yep...for sure the original windshield on the 2nd gen was not comfortable for my better half. She had a headache from buffeting after an hour in the saddle. We both wear full gear all the time (if that makes any difference). The addition of the widest, tallest Clearview with vent solved most of her issues with the 2nd gen. She still misses the adjustable backrest of the 1st gen. Even with the 2nd Gen tour pack moved back, she isn't as comfortable on the 2nd gen as she is on the 1st gen. I carry a round pillow just in case she wants more support for her back. Hope this helps...
  11. 22 seconds to get up to 5K rpm where she is starting to really pull. I subtracted the video time. That was interesting. Thanks for the video...
  12. Simple device. Looks like all it does is change the impedance.
  13. Yes... Similar to Heathkit. Except Heathkit made all sorts of electronic kits, while Dynaco made only very good quality stereo stuff. David Hafner was a brilliant audio engineer. My Dynaco 120 transistor amp kit blew away a Marantz 120 that was 4 times the price in a Cambridge, Mass independent lab test. My Pat 4 preamp did the same. I built both. Still have the Pat 4... Works. Damping only affects the ability of the amp to pull the speaker cone back after each signal pulse, if you will. An open cabinet design speaker is more in need of high damping then a closed Port or tuned port system. Simply because it has nothing to control the cone but the amp. So only way to tell is to test. If your ears are really good, you will hear a muddy bass instead of a crisp thump, thump! Maybe you can find some tests on line, or drop by a stereo place and ask if you can bring in your speakers to test. Ie, all for their help. Who knows, might get lucky and find someone who would like to help.
  14. To show you how far back I go, I still have some of my Dynaco gear. I love the tube preamp. My Dynaco 70 tube amp was stolen a number of years ago. Wish I had it back. Those Dynaco kits were superb!y clean. And yes, I built my own. Still have 4 kits..all work. If you can find an original amp, you can get Svetlana tubes for them. Russian and very clean. I think that's the name... http://www.thetubestore.com/Tubes/Svetlana Not much dampening on a tube amp, but I'll trade that of for the warm sound. What am I talking about, my hearing is about gone so what can I really hear!!!???!!!
  15. I find changing the rear tire is easier on a belt drive than a shaft drive.
  16. Atmos will wait for now. Need better speakers for surround. Streaming....I can stream with Win 7 and MP11, but XP had me stumped. So i am going to look into the small Seagate NAS. The simple single disc is 3Tb.... And will connect either wired or wireless. That way the puter can be sleeping and I can still share tunes and such. About $140. Heard Best Buy may have some. I don't need a raid, just a simple file sharing unit. As far as more channels, I'm thinking of using the secondary part of the amp for remote speakers. Using Yamahas wireless system. As I can afford the speakers, I can populate the bedroom, garage and back patio... Then simply turn on the ones I want to listen to. One set at a time. I'm really impressed with that Yamaha...... Oh.... Playing with the Android remote ap for the yamaha is a hoot! You can do just about anything you want from another room and it works! Add to that, my daughter can walk into room, change the input to bluetooth and send her songs right to the amp from her phone. She's tickled over that.... Does drive dad nuts though!!
  17. Update: Yamaha TSR-7810 is now in my living room. Took me a while to find it since by the time I had the pennies saved, Costco no longer had it. Paid under $500 clams for it and am very happy. Got the speakers and stuff plugged in, then plugged in unit. Pressed the WiFi button on router and Yamaha and that was done almost instantly. Put my music library on sharing, plugged in a USB stick, had the tuner find some of my stations, and set up the speakers. Took about 3 hours, most of the time on my film/video Edit computer system computer where my music library is mastered, sharing all the tunes. I'm not going to get fancy with the sound fields or speakers for the time being. Want to get used to the system first. Have 2 main speakers and small surround speakers. Bottom line: I'm impressed. Yamaha TSR 7810 is an outstanding value. Has lots of power for my Dynaco A25's (Yea, bought them in 1968), has all the connectivity I will need, including the phono input! And the wireless functions are robust and easy to deal with. Thanks to ragtop69gs, Jay, for his suggestion and sharing the info on the receiver with us.
  18. OK...looks like I have a destination. Cowpuc, let me know when you are going...I'll join ya!
  19. Maybe my memory is shot on this, but I thought those teeth were supposed to have a flat spot at the end of each tooth?
  20. They say the weight limit is for handling. But they said that for our Ventures too. I would guess we could load up ten pounds easily.
  21. "should" is the operative word! Yes it should disconnect. That's what usually happens when you plug in shore power... The internal charger is isolated. Another thought. Newer systems use one box to charge battery from motorhome engine, generator or shore power. They switch automatically. Check to see what yours does. I would think it would trickle from engine, but charge faster from generator and shore power. Don't know as they all have their own ideas.
  22. One thing that comes to mind after reading all those accessories, is Yamaha did an excellent job of planning ahead. Everything bolts right on to existing holes! Except trunk rack.. probably has marks/raised bosses on underside of lid!
  23. The only safe answer is going to come from manufacturer. I doubt even a dealer would know unless they service that particular unit. Reason is, rv charging systems are not necessarily following any logic. In my 30 years of rentals, I've seen just about everything. Add to that what the P.O. might have done, who knows what evil lurks behind the wall plates? My safe answer is no. You stand a chance of burning out the internal charger/inverter. My suggestion is install a marine/rv style battery isolator switch. One side is as is. Other side isolates battery from coach and connectors it to the big gen circuit. Then once every few days, flip the switch and run the big gen for a few hrs. A competent rv electrical guy can advise best way to isolate coach charging from battery. Interesting question. Another alternative is to change out gen for larger unit and then you can install a larger converter/ charger. More moola for sure....
  24. Yep!! Forgot all about that! My Bugeye Sprite had a generator I had to replace brushes and clean the crud from the armature once a year. It was actually fun to do... And kept that gen running fine. It was original and was working when I finally sold it in the early 90's. 1960 Sprite Mk1. Darn. Wish I still had that little car. Thanks for the reminder, Puc..... Yes we can clean those starters, for sure!
  25. Grins...ok! Then I'm not seeing the gas problem. Of course, could be I'm not seeing it cause I'm only on first cup!
