That was my problem. In an emergency, with the weight transfer forward and Yamaha putting a huge rear caliper on the RSV...she locks up immediately. Practice helps, but in an emergency...your foot overrules practice and she locks up. I've been thinking of going soft with the next pads, but have a feeling that might make it worse. I wish I had an answer to give...because the only thing that kept me alive was my reflexes, getting off the rear brake so quickly I didn't end up high siding at 75mph. Sadly, the reflexes get worse as we age....and I still haven't found a smaller rear caliper that bolts on to the RSV. I don't have a machine shop to adapt my own. [/color]

This is a little off topic...but instead of changing grips...I ordered these. They work well. If you buy, make sure you order the original Grip Puppies. I've used them on the Vstar and now both Ventures... You will have to search to buy them....they are available but not from their website. I'm sending the video so you can see the packaging. These are the originals and not cheapies that will fall apart in a month. The ones on my 89 Royale have been on for 4 years now. A little flat, but still work.

Shinko Tourmaster or 777HD. Both can be had in stock sizes front and rear. I have them and love them for stickiness and ride. Downside...you won't get 10K out of a rear. I run them about 2 pounds under tire rated max....

Yeppers. After I retired, I had a bunch of consulting jobs came in. At first I took them on.....then realized "What am I doing?" Stopped that nonsense fast. Now I to am wondering how I ever had time for working!

Beautiful trailer! Tell us more...please! Oh...and congrats on the mpg's. My RSV isn't geared to pull a trailer unless I stay in 4th gear. 5th is way to high a gear for just the bike at 70mph....say nothing about towing. Makes for lousy Mpg's too!

Well, Flyinfool got me! You were right, cowpuc...he can let it fly all the way to Southern Arizona!! This morning.....good thing I still had my kamik snow boots and New Hampshire snow shovel.... Look closely above...see the palm trees! Yep...this is Arizona. See the RSV shivering in the background.... Got the snow off the cars...and that gave me something to shovel! 4 inches on the cars.... But youse guys and gals don't want to see anymore so back to your normal winter stuff!

Agreed, Jeff. Most of the LED bulbs I still see for sale are crap. Lots of light...with no beam pattern or cut off for low beam. If they are DOT approved, it's at least a good start....

Technology is interesting for sure when it comes to LED bulbs. I did a ton of research before I chose my LED bulbs. I wanted them to have a great low beam flat spread and have a decent high beam. Found them, bought them and installed one in each scoot. The 89VR lens does limit the light spread but still looks good. But the 05 RSV lens works great with the same bulbs. I got the low beam spread and low beam cutoff and nice high beams. Shame that the bulbs are no longer made. The Broview S5 with passive heat sink. Good morning. I see rain heading toward the Lakes...wondering if The cold air is going to make it down south enough to allow flyinfools snow machine to work? We have a 25% chance of snow in Green valley on Tuesday. Already have some of that white stuff on the mountains across the valley from me. Looks like winter has arrived! Might have to go for a ride when I get home on Wednesday! Grins...

Nope. Not normal. Does sound like you have a leak... It's a simple trace.....not much to the system. Follow the clutch line down along the frame to the slave cylinder area. looking for fluid. The most likely place is the slave cylinder...may have the oil seal that's died and leaking fluid. Although where it would go is a mystery to me as it's bolted to the engine block. If it's wet under the area where the clutch slave is...between the large stator cover and the smaller intermediate gear cover, on the left side, then your problem is there. If your slave is original, and you have some miles...it's worth a rebuild or buy new. I bought new on my 1st gen. Same, same pretty much between the two. simple to replace...lots of articles and pictures...I have some in the 1st gen area. But follow the line looking for fluid at the junctions. If you got air in system when it ran low...then you will have to bleed the system. It can mimic low fluid with an air bubble....and cause clutch release issues.

I use a piece of notebook or printer paper. But that doesn't sound like Jeff's problem, unfortunately. Although it's worth a shot, Jeff. If the sensor rod sticking into the flame area doesn't sense flame...no burner. Clean by removing sensor rod...pull it through a piece of folded paper a few times. Don't put any side pressure as they are brittle side to side. If it isn't even trying to light, I'd go with pilot not hitting the main gas due to wrong air movement. Check the exchanger carefully. I like the using smoke...good reason to fire up a cigar! Grins!

Got out today for a ride. Went to Nickels Diner in Rio Rico, my favorite little diner, and had a simple lunch. No BBQ today. Then on to Patagonia Lake. Wanted to look at the camping spot I chose for the week of January 29-Feb 3rd. At the diner.... My spot at the lake next month.... We have 8 trailers/RV's going at this point. We have most of this loop you see behind and beside me filled. Going to be a fun week. Interesting that this is our sailing club. It seems most of us have added trailers or RV's to our stable of boats! 78 degrees and cloudy today. RSV ran very well. Came home at 8u0mph on freeway...wanted to blow out the cobwebs and any black widows hiding under the fenders...lol! Snoopy!
