This is GORGEOUS!
videoarizona replied to cowpuc's topic in Links to Classifieds, Craigslist, Ebay, Sales, Etc.
Geesh, that's pretty! -
Nice. I tried to order but wouldn't autosend me to PayPal. Came back and now cart is empty. Don't know if order was placed or not. Waiting for some sort of confirmation email. If not, then will try again... Update: Got an email confirmation so looks like order did go through... Strange that I was never sent to the PayPal page to confirm.... Ah well...we shall see...

I remember those old kerosene flame throwers....they do work. My FIL helped me rebuild my Austin Healey Bugeye motor in his garage. We had to take out the drive shaft (in a tunnel), then the trannie and motor came out the bonnet with a lift. In the dead of winter in a garage in Denver Colorado. I was warm working on that car... BUT, nowadays, I would go with a non flame thrower...just cause I couldn't breathe the fumes any more...allergies! I've used the portable Mr. Heater for about 10 years now in the sailboat for our winter weekends. It works. Keeps us warm even below freezing temps! I like that it has a shut off safeties as well...I kick it on high for about 20 minutes then down on low until I get the coffee going. Gets toasty. Might be just enough heat to keep you comfortable.....not hot...but warm enough I would think in the garage. Don't know for sure... https://www.homedepot.com/p/Mr-Heater-9-000-BTU-Radiant-Propane-Portable-Heater-F232000/205527178

Will these spark plug caps work?
videoarizona replied to Chaharly's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just to confuse the issue...I found a set of NGK 5K ohm plugs wires with caps for the 89 on Ebay. Fit perfectly. Been on there since November 2014. Still working great! -
I used a soldering pencil and welded small pieces of ABS to the area along the crack...melting both the plastic and the crack. Think using the small ABS piece like solder....melting it as I went along the crack. Finished with epoxy and fiberglass cloth a few inches on either side of repair. Stronger than factory and easy, peasy to do. Only downside is the smell of the melting plastic....

I got mine from Costco. $1600. Free fitting and adjustments. Also love the free phone app that lets me change programs, adjust parameters, etc. Good stuff..

Took the RSV up to Phoenix last week. It will sit up there so I can enjoy the Spring... mountain and desert runs from that area. Found out my clutch is slipping in 5th if I hit it hard. So next week, I'll get with Earl, skydoc_17 , and order a clutch kit from him. Then I came back to Tucson....and came across this.... What is it??? Scroll down.... It's a 2-6-0 steam locomotive...from the early 1900's.... Boy, not very comfortable to sit in...just a pad on a metal bench! But oh so much fun to read the history... http://tucsonhistoricdepot.org/?page_id=277 That's it for me for now. We leave in morning for a week at Lake Patagonia State Park to camp, hike, drink and eat...with the Lake Pleasant Sailing Club...RV division! Our third outing with the Coleman CTU-249RB LOL! See youse guys and gals in a week...unless I can get some WIFI at the lake...then I'll try to send pics... David

Tourmaster Advanced Jacket review- nice jacket.
videoarizona replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
Neil, The review sounds good! Thanks... Have you tried the Olympia Dakar 2 jacket? Has anyone? I think I'm getting close with these two jackets... https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/olympia-dakar-2-jacket -
Tourmaster Advanced Jacket review- nice jacket.
videoarizona replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
I'm looking for a similar jacket but of the opposite vein. I want a multi-layer mesh with solid rain protection that will keep me warm in the 40's but vent enough air to keep me cool in 90's. I like the idea of a jacket that has a rain layer that can be worn inside or outside the jacket...like having your own Froggs Toggs built-in. The latest Sedici is nice and comes close but the vents don't look like they will help much nor does the mesh look breathable in the main area of the chest...it is a heavy built beast though. @VentureFar if you come across something like this...please let me know. Appreciate your reviews... david -
cowpuc, didn't know how much knowledge you have in the differences between 556 and 223....so I wanted to learn myself and found this.... https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/5-56-vs-223/ Myself....if I was younger, I think I would like to play around with the 5.7 round. Costs bux but would be fun to play with... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_5.7%C3%9728mm Anyway. I'm a novice at this stuff....but was an expert shooter in the military. Did enjoy it then but no longer have the muscle co-ordination or steadiness of my youth!

VideoArizona,, did you make it home yet?? You ok out there?
videoarizona replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Geesh, just dawned on me I never replied to the thoughts about the cruise control. Checked all the cables and they are fine. The cruise system is working well. I think the problem is really simple....since the cruise kicks off when your speed drops more than 5mph, that was the problem. Those large dogbone trucks coming at me on a 2 lane road at 65mph....would knock my speed down instantly enough top kick off the cruise. Never had it happen before or since that trip. But the headwinds were coming from the SW...which was the same direction the air wave in front of the trucks was coming from. So double dose of wind...like a wall of water. Only happened on one stretch of 2 lane in Kansas...westbound. I haven't swapped out the rear end yet with a VMax...but will do as soon as life slows down a bit. Thanks for the kinds word...about the trip. I wish I had taken more pictures...just to busy enjoying the ride. Most of the time I forgot about taking pictures.... Sigh. -
Without knowing more about your home situation...I "venture" some out-of-the-box thoughts: How about using your heater for the home to provide supplement heat to the hot water system. If you have a hot air furnace, can you buy an "A frame type unit that you can pump your hot water plumbing through that will install in your heater? (kind of like how AC works inside a forced air heater) Same fan...etc..capture some of the house heat to heat the water. Or.. My dad had hot water heat and he just tapped into the heater water circuit. It was complex at first glance, but really simple. A small pump provided the constant circulation based on a water temp thermostat...and whenever the heater ran, it also heated the hot water going into the tank. Another idea: If you can find the longest hot water run from the water heaters....or main water heater....you can run a return line (just a simple T-tap) from that farthest point back to the low side of the water heater drain on the tank.....this alone will circulate water for you without any need for power. (convection???don't remember). Allows almost instant hot water from any tap rather that running water for a few minutes before it gets hot. Just some random thoughts here....

I would think a simple 12 volt power supply and some liquid and a bucket.

I believe HD recommends 20-50 wt for their engines. Just saying... The 50wt for me is good for 8 months of the year we have our heat. The 20 wt flows nicely in warmer and cooler temps. My oil leak on the 89 VR only surfaced when I switched to 20-40 Rotella. So it will get changed out shortly back to 20-50. I doubt the thinner oil had anything to do with it....there's just not that much difference between the two. It's noisier but still shifts smoothly. But, I just like the way the motors sound and run. BTW, The VR is warm blooded. She only needs about 60 seconds on choke. The RSV is cold blooded. She runs nicely on choke for 2 minutes or more then I can take the choke off and she runs well. I ALWAYS let the scoots warm up. Same with my cars and trucks. Always have. Get over 200K on them each before I retire them. Yukon XL is at 217K now and still doesn't burn oil. Not bad for an aluminum engine! That said, I don't worry about thick oil not getting into the bearings, etc...because I warm them up and that's what the 20 wt part of the oil is for... at least that's my take on life. Works for me. PS. not trying to start an oil war , especially this time of year. To cold to be outside washing that stuff off !

Well...our snow is long gone... Flyinfool did get some down here...just enough to make life nice for a few days for us Arizonans. I don't remember if I posted the picture of me and the snow shovel.....I brushed off the 5 inches on the cars and that gave me reason to break out the shovel and shovel the snow off the driveway. LOL! Went for a ride today. Took the RSV this time (last week the VR) Went down to the border and tooled around. Went through a tank of gas having fun exploring near Nogales AZ. Finally got tired and headed north to Rio Rico and just made it to the diner as they closed 2 minutes before I got there. The owner let me in and I had a nice lunch yakking to him and the ladies. Stopped at some of my favorite haunts and found out the steak house that has been around for years, The Cow Palace...(John Wayne used to come in from his ranch and eat) is going to stay closed after a horrific flood. The restaurant that has been closed across the street for years (Longhorn Grill) is going to open again! I know the owners...will be good food. Lots of steaks the owner said! Above picture was taken a few years ago. This will re-open hopefully Valentines Day. Today....on the road. Looks like there's still a touch of white stuff on the mountains behind the scoot. 78 degrees today. Nice. That's it for riding for a while unless I bring the RSV up to Phoenix to stay at my Harley buddie's house so we can ride Spring and summer in the mountains. We shall see....Next weekend I bring the trailer home to rinse out the fresh water tank again....then pack it up for a week of camping at the lake.

Here's my update on the Quicksilver 20-50 synthetic for motorcycles. Took the RSV out for a long ride today. Ran through a tank of gas in it. It ran quietly and shifted just like the Yamalube dino oil of same weight. I couldn't tell any difference. So I'm good with the Quicksilver. It's much cheaper and available at WalMart. If it isn't in the store stock, they will order it with free delivery to store. Now I'll buy some more and try it in the 89VR. Should be same result.....

What bike? You don't say....and it's not in your post info. I gave up on adding stuff. I bought a $68 gadget that connects up to the 5pin din and gives me a stereo minijack for my ear buds. They are expensive passive noise reduction units that fit inside my helmet's space nicely. I can still use the mic, intercom,cb and radio but now have nice sounds with little road noise! You might want to think about it....You can do this without a helmet too....Clean sounds...

Freebird and I have been working on a project ;o)
videoarizona replied to Luvdaleather's topic in Watering Hole
Much warmer in Arizona....hint. -
I bought my Quicksilver motorcycle 20-50wt synthetic oil from Walmart not to long ago. Just did my oil change last night. Ran well. But I promised on an earlier post that I will report in when I have a few miles on the scoot...with respect to shifting, valve noise, etc.. It is labeled for motorcycles and with highest Jaso rating (MA/MA2). BTW, I've been running Yamalube 20-50 dino oil since I bought both scoots. They do seem to run very well. 89 VR and an 05 RSV. I feel safer running that heavy oil around Arizona. We do get warm here...

We are so sorry to hear. Prayers to you and your family. He sure had a great run at 96! Lucky man.....

Me too. I'm wired and not interested in dealing with batteries. As far as the question.....Not sure if there is a way unless you go with that module that plugs into the system, then does everything bluetooth. It's under $400, and made by a major brand bluetooth company. You want the one with the 5 pin capability. Sorry, can't remember the name. Update: Found this: This is similar to what I was talking about... https://www.bikebandit.com/riding-gear-and-accessories/communication-cameras/communication-bluetooth-systems/sena-sm10-dual-stream-bluetooth-stereo-transmitter/p/41405 http://www.buysena.com/freewire-02.html?sc=23&category=4483
