Puc, yep...it's all about HP to weight ratio. But ya also need to add in the gear/rear end ratios too! 2nd gen is seriously hobbled by an overdrive gearbox. Not kosher for zippiness! Actually, not kosher for much at all except riding around in 4th gear at 60mph. Gearing is to long to even get off the line quickly. Sigh. Where's that VMax rear end I keep wanting to buy??

Something to keep in mind: "They" are victims, initially. Once the looting and crime begins, "they" become criminals. The End.

My better half made a series of masks for us. 4 layers. 2 outer cloth layers and 2 inner cloth layers of a weave recommended by the CDC. Took her quite a while to make them, but they are comfortable, a bit warm though and should work as they were made to guidelines. And I know I'm breathing through them because they inflate/deflate as I breathe. No valves needed! I wear in public going into stores, etc. I no longer wear gloves for 2 reasons: 1. The CDC still can't make up it's mind whether you can actually get the virus from touching a food package, etc.. 2: I carry a small bottle of antiseptic stuff and use it when I get out of store. Clean hands. Clean face. Good enough for me. And with my allergies and susceptibility to lots of stuff, I'm a candidate that is concerned. Just stay safe everyone...want to see those of you I've met again...and want to meet those of you I haven't! OH..BTW, There are reusable/washable towelets out there and you can make your own kill germs solution. Just re-use one of the store bought containers after it's empty. Cool stuff...

One of my favorites from years gone by..... Glenn Yarbrough.... The Crucifixion Phil Ochs And the night comes again to the circle studded sky G Bm The stars settle slowly, in loneliness they lie Am D G Em 'Till the universe expodes as a falling star is raised Am D G Em Planets are paralyzed, mountains are amazed Am D G Em But they all glow brighter from the brilliance of the blaze Am D Em With the speed of insanity, then he dies. In the green fields a turnin', a baby is born His cries crease the wind and mingle with the morn An assault upon the order, the changing of the guard Chosen for a challenge that is hopelessly hard And the only single sound is the sighing of the stars But to the silence and distance they are sworn Images of innocence charge him go on But the decadence of destiny is looking for a pawn To a nightmare of knowledge he opens up the gate And a blinding revelation is laid upon his plate That beneath the greatest love is a hurricane of hate And God help the critic of the dawn. So he stands on the sea and shouts to the shore, But the louder that he screams the longer he's ignored For the wine of oblivion is drunk to the dregs And the merchants of the masses almost have to be begged 'Till the giant is aware, someone's pulling at his leg, And someone is tapping at the door. Then his message gathers meaning and it spreads across the land The rewarding of his pain is the following of the man But ignorance is everywhere and people have their way Success is an enemy to the losers of the day In the shadows of the churches, who knows what they pray For blood is the language of the band. The Spanish bulls are beaten; the crowd is soon beguiled, The matador is beautiful, a symphony of style Excitement is estatic, passion places bets Gracefully he bows to ovations that he gets But the hands that are applauding are slippery with sweat And saliva is falling from their smiles Em C D So dance dance dance Em Teach us to be true C Come dance dance dance D Em 'Cause we love you Then this overflow of life is crushed into a liar The gentle soul is ripped apart and tossed into the fire. First a smile of rejection at the nearness of the night Truth becomes a tragedy limping from the light All the (canons|heavens) are horrified, they stagger from the sight As the cross is trembling with desire. They say they can't believe it, it's a sacrilegious shame Now, who would want to hurt such a hero of the game? But you know I predicted it; I knew he had to fall How did it happen? I hope his suffering was small. Tell me every detail, I've got to know it all, And do you have a picture of the pain? Time takes her toll and the memory fades but his glory is broken, in the magic that he made. Reality is ruined; it's the freeing from the fear The drama is distorted, to what they want to hear Swimming in their sorrow, in the twisting of a tear As they wait for a new thrill parade. The eyes of the rebel have been branded by the blind To the safety of sterility, the threat has been refined The child was created to the slaughterhouse he's led So good to be alive when the eulogy is read The climax of emotion, the worship of the dead And the cycle of sacrifice unwinds. So dance dance dance Teach us to be true Come dance dance dance 'Cause we love you And the night comes again to the circle studded sky The stars settle slowly, in loneliness they lie 'Till the universe explodes as a falling star is raised Planets are paralyzed, mountains are amazed But they all glow brighter from the brilliance of the blaze With the speed of insanity, then he died. With tire on ground....take off left muffler, right too will make it easier. Take off the brake caliper on right and hang. Take off nut on left side....use long bar, 1/2inch drive and 27 mm socket (memory???) Will come off. Raise bike high. Then raise it more. Dropping the wheel out needs height. Now undo the pinch bolt on right side of axle. Place wood block under tire. OH....take a good look at where the washer is on the right side of the axle between the brake mount and the wheel. It only goes in one place as it positions the rear brake caliper properly. Take a picture.....!!! Pull axle out to the left side. Should come out easy if tire is resting properly on block....or as video showed above...do that with tire resting gently on ground. Once done...tire will come off to the right at a slight angle to the right as you are pulling it off the drive on the left. Then it will drop down. Hint: There are some good threads about this on this site. Search function works well.....and don't forget to look below each search page for hints from the site of other threads with similar topic! I do prefer to take off the mufflers and rear brake. I like learning how to. But it isn't necessary....the wheel will come off if high enough. And....after the tire is out, put the axle back in. It should go in easily with some fresh grease on it. If not, then you probably should loosen the 4 acorn nuts of the rear end (left side..between drive shaft and rear end) and then re-tighten them. Do this until the axle slides in and out easily. Congrats...you have just aligned the rear end! -
I'll add my .03 cents to this thread. First, Seafoam is good but more as a maintainer, as has been mentioned. Techron is better if you want something to run in the tank. But good ole Carb cleaner works best to dissolve old crud in the passageways and jets of a carb. I use carb cleaner once in a while while bike is shut down. Techron example: My dealer wanted big bux to replace my spark plugs in the 6.2ltr GMC Denali. Just because of a simple miss fire code at startup. I came home and put some Techron in and about 200 miles, the engine light went away. Cleaned out those injectors nicely! Second, If you are new to these V4's, Patch mentioned 5th gear as an overdrive...well... so is 4th! You can wind that motor up to the limiter without fear...I hit 75 in 3rd gear all the time. Lugging the beast won't clear the carbs. A simple saying we have around here to remember...every once in a while...put some Seafoam or Techron in the tank and ride it like you stole it. BTW, I don't shift to 5th until 70 to 75. I can get 41 mpg's on my 05 by staying in 4th gear....and holding 65 to 70 mph. Bottom line, Get the carbs checked out. Check the tank for any kind of "stuff" that shouldn't be in there. Pull the fuel filter, replace it...and move it. It's in an awful place to get to. I put mine directly aft of the tank under the seat...in plain sight once the seat is removed. Do these things, then keep running it in 4th on the way to work. Take your time.....she will clear up most of the time. If not, then a carb removal is in order. That would be best, as you would be able to set the floats, clean the jets and would now know that you have a good starting reference point on the carbs. On other thoughts... It's easy to check timing, check compression, pull plugs again and double check gaps. Do these things so you know what you have done. Next time Seafoam or Techron is on sale, by a case. With this crap gas we have...they both come in handy. Add Stabil to that list for those times when you might not ride in a month. Good luck and let us know what the dealer said and how the scoot is doing! Oh..download the manual from the site.

Agreed. I used to clean the generator on my Austin Healey. All the time. Dust and dirt would get in there and no or low charging. Got pretty good at that. -
That makes three of us. I like the stuff too. 20-50wt in both scoots.

Mine did that after sitting for a while. Took the wood handle from a screw driver, tapped the carb bodies, shot some Carb cleaner into the carbs...and problem went away. Mine was probably a stuck float. -
I'm not going to suggest a particular model, but suggest you get what fits your fingers, your handlebars and your wallet. I mounted my radio on left handlebar, antenna on right. Wired 12 volts to cig lighter inside fairing on left side using patch cable. Audio out goes to a "Y" connector into the "Aux" input inside fairing on right side center. Member Steve K M61A1MECH makes 12 volt harnesses to patch/add things to. Recommended! Let me get some coffee and I'll find some pics. (time passes) This is what my view looks like. Yamaha controller on left. To the right is the XM radio. On other side is the GPS and behind that you can barely see the black round stubbie antenna for the XM.. Here you can see part of Steve's patch cable to the right of my hand. Looks like a mess, but is a clean, plug and play patch for the 12volts to power the XM radio and Garmin. What I'm holding in my hand are the 2 extra leads for another patch cable from Steve that is running my LED marker lights and my Aux fog lights. Heck, half my bike is wired with his patches...which makes my life so much easier as everything is plug and play! I tried various places for the antenna. Liked inside the fairing...but signal kept getting lost when riding North! So outside on bars it went. I bought the antenna, power cradle and radio from XM. They just announced some new stuff a few days ago...Motorcycle specific. I haven't gone to look as I'm happy with what I have. Good luck and let me know if you need anything else. Thought I'd try some pics of the audio Y connector. It's hard to see but will give you an idea of where the Aux cable gets connected to the Clarion Radio. This is what the aux cable looks like that goes to the little 3mm jack inside the cassette door. It is a tiny black cable. The connector is to the left of my fingers. Unplug that, add a Y cable to one side, then connect the XM audio out to the other side. This is where I ran the XM radio cable...it is zip tied to the radio frame area directly below the windshield...my fingers are holding that cable. hope this helps...

After spending most of Saturday replacing the stator on Mark's Ultra (primary case had a ridge so we couldn't simply take off the stator...we had to take apart the inner primary case too. Ugh. But it got done and no leaks! So Sunday morning we met at 7am and took off for 3 hours looping around northern Phoenix area. Nice ride. Putting her back together... Breakfast...such as it was... Felt very good to be back in the saddle...if only for a few hours. Way to hot here in AZ for this time of year!!

BTW, Arizona got smart about the virus thingie..... Yea, they closed down the concessions, rest rooms and showers at the State Parks, but the parks are open. You can reserve your tent/rv space on line and just go. Plus, this time of year our "normal" weather is such that boondocking, or camping in the wild is open just about everywhere.... Arizona is smart enough to realize campers keep far more than 6 feet apart...more like 30 feet or more if boondocking. We don't like next door neighbors...we like quiet and peace. That's why you go out into the boonies to camp. Right? But then, don't want this statement to get political...but the worse hit states are not like Arizona as far as leadership. Stay safe everyone....
