  1. Found this connector while cleaning the electrical connectors on the left side of bike alongside the frame above and to the left of the fuel pump. In looking over the schematic, I can see only one two wire connector with one red and one black wire...and that is for the condensor which is used with the voltage regulator. However, the black side is a frame ground and the red wire has 12.6 volts to it. So, any ideas? I simply do not see anything within range of the plug that is unplugged. I can't get to the regulator to see if the 2nd connected is connected to anything.... TIA, david
  2. KIC, could be! I may have to meet you for breakfast early some day and let you hear my VR. I would be interested in your opinion.....
  3. I enjoyed his show on AFRTS...American Forces Radio and TV Service. I was a radio jock and TV director for them way back when overseas... I remember his light informational banter.....the most. Made me a better DJ for sure... david
  4. Folding trick from my better half: Button shirt. Place face down on bed with sleeves out. Fold sleeves back over themselves in the direction of the other sleeve. Fold bottom third of shirt up unto middle of shirt. Now fold next third of shirt up on top of shoulders. Turn over and pack that way. Should fit in saddlebag. Do that to all shirts and jackets. This folding minimizes wrinkles. Most hotels now have steamers available for free and irons as well. Have a nice ride! david
  5. Interesting day: Today was repair Yukon and VR day....huh! Yukon shows no brake fault codes at all...none, zilch. Lights are out and running/stopping fine. What the???? VR - ran fine. Slight whine at 55mph like day before but no where near as loud. Checked air system...all good. No scrapes on fender, nothing to indicate a problem. I give up. Must be the nature of the beast.
  6. LOL! She was happy with ride...but it was too hot. She was glad I turned around to head home. She felt she could fall asleep the ride was so good. Uh oh. I'll be looking into the VR rear end this week. First, gotta take a look at the GMC Yukon. This am the brake warning light came on. First warning I've had on that truck since new...136K miles ago. Good to know the swing arm angle shouldn't change anything. Thanks, david
  7. My Daughter came down for the weekend. She's all of 105 pounds. I left the air shocks on "Low" but moved the rear damper to "2". She's my first pillion rider on the 89VR. Got up to about 55mph and heard a new whine. Coming from rear....to me sounds like the drive shaft, guessing here that the increased weight changed the U-joint angles and it may be dry. About the only thing I haven't checked since I bought the bike recently is the drive shaft. Thoughts? and Thanks! david
  8. You are encouraging me to explore with my Venture, Scott! Hmmm....
  9. Congratulations proud parents!! You both look great!!
  10. I run a leather jacket with armor in winter and have two mesh jackets with armor for warm weather. To me, fit and durability (based on ratings??) is more important than brand. Many of the inexpensive jackets do have CE approved armor....and those pieces can be changed/added at reasonable costs. Both my mesh are Bilt (under $200 on sale). Leather is an XElement with two liners (warm and water). Pleased with all. david
  11. Wow! Great Pictures! Thanks for inviting us to ride with you... david
  12. Sitting at a light on Continental in Green Valley, Arizona and a VR turns through the intersection. I only got a quick glimpse as I was watching a car behind me. I gave a quick toot on the horn, got a toot back..then my light changed and I went off to my appointment. Dang...wish I could have stayed long enough to say "hi". david
  13. Thinking out loud here...(uh oh)... If the by-pass valve is upside down when normal and right side up for draining...that makes sense to me. If you can read it, you are draining! Convoluted logic, I guess! david
  14. Really am enjoying following along with your posts and pictures! Thanks! david
  15. So good to hear how happy you both are! Enjoy! david
  16. Sorry to have missed you both, Puc. Down in Green Valley, AZ, helping a friend out unpacking after a move from New Hampshire. We were worn out after unloading his uhaul Pods! Glad you enjoyed the ride in AZ!! be safe and have fun! david (videoarizona)
  17. Been following this thread...very good responses. But I'm still confused. In your last post it "seems" like there is a charging problem...but that has been checked, right?. Meanwhile, The hesitation sounds like a cutout or a short within a system wire that is powering or interfering with the computer or the spark....since it effects both the engine running and the tach. So two problems. Question for the brain trust: What might be common to the two events as I've described? david
  18. That depends upon your definition of "separated"! But no...it's all one tank. The reserve pick up is a lower height tube than the normal pickup. So you are now able to access the fuel closer to the bottom of the tank. > That question can also be up for debate. All bikes seem to behave slightly differently with regard to the number of bars and quantity of fuel. The owners manual only says 1.1 gallons is left when the light comes on. How accurate that is depends upon your bike and how accurate your gauge "seems" to be. Recommended that you grab a spare gas can, fill it and ride until the bike dies on reserve. Calculate your miles while on reserve so you have an idea. If the mileage is close to what you normally get in a gallon of gas, then your gauge is pretty close. Hope this helps.
  19. Wish I could help, I'm at the bottom of Arizona.....and I'm unloading a buddy's Uhaul pods that came in yesterday. Two done so far in 109 heat....3 more to go....hope to be done by Monday!!! I like the idea of a WalMart nearby.....I've always purchased their Rand McNally Atlas as it lists the stores...just in case I needed a parking lot to stay in while towing the boat. david
  20. Hmmm...problem here. No longer married....so will ride carefully until I get another lady who loves to ride. If I understand correctly, the bell I have on my 950T should not be transferred? david
  21. I have both the JVC and the GoPro. GP has more mounting choices, JVC has better picture. Both offer outstanding value and can be had for under $300. david
  22. Mine's an 89 and has "14" stamped on the Master... david
  23. I got an EasyPass from New Hampshire last year and carried it in the front pocket of my riding jacket. No problems. david
  24. Know that RT 89 Between Sedona and Flagstaff may be closed due to a fire...but that's a few days away for you yet. Safe ride! Call me when you get close...maybe I can get up North! It's hot here... david
