  1. That was fun......thanks!
  2. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-horns/motorcycle-horn-comparison.htm Well...be that as it may, I put the Stebel Compact on my VR and it is great. Had it for 5 months and it's loud. Put it on the right side, using the right side wires to trigger the relay for the horn. The left side stock horn is still there and working. Mounting was easy, wiring was easy. Looks and sounds fine.
  3. Don't know if this will help anyone....but Yamaha gas caps that are held together by two screws have a habit of getting out of alignment internally. Making it harder to take off. Also, if the screws get loose, they fall out into the tank with associated problems there. Best bet is everyone should loosen their screws (on the cap, ok?), and make sure the key works easily. Then put some locktite on the screw and snug them up. If adventurous, take cap apart and clean.... Preventive medicine...... Got this from my days with the 650 Classic...very common problem with them. 1100's had same type cap...like ours.
  4. On my 950T a while back near Cochise's hideout...65mph. My buddy rode beside me to take pic. Girlfriend's iPhone.
  5. My guess is you had some crud or water in gas??? Went through carbs and now gone...
  6. Oh my...this will be interesting! Lots of pics!!! david
  7. I concur with full tank, Stabil, tire pressure, on stand, block exhaust for mice, Battery Tender on battery or take battery out and put in house. Properly charged battery will not freeze. Shame the orange beastie isn't staying out here in AZ, I'd volunteer to help you ride her! OH! Thank his family for their service!!! david
  8. Bio, Yep..you are running lean. Not much actually...just enough to cause the popping. An air leak can cause same as well as an exhaust leak. But I'm betting lean due to less restriction in the pipes. I had the same problem with my last carb bike. Changed exhaust and made it more free flow caused an overly lean mixture...corrected by re-jetting in my case. One thing to think about...running slightly lean is good for gas mileage! You might consider taking bike to a dyno shop and have them run a test. Just to see how lean you are running...might be OK...(unless the popping really bothers you) To richen the carbs, either re-jet or shim the slider... I personally don't know what would be best for your bike... Sounds great though!! Thanks for the video... david
  9. Portsmouth, NH. Took my drivers test in snowstorm. We got back and school was cancelled. My bus was gone. Mom had to pick me up. She wasn't happy. Before cell phones! david
  10. LOL! Sounds like me...but my problem is Lactose intolerant....so regular ice cream and I do not get along. Sigh...do remember how good DQ was when I could stop there!
  11. Pete, that truly sums it up for me as well! Thanks...
  12. No brainer for me. Until I rode the 1st Gen and understand what Yamaha did to make the bike run so well...I would not hesitate to buy a new RSV. If I had the bux! Seriously. I know the drive train is pretty much bullet proof. I know the confort will be there. I know the handling will be there. I don't care about the cassette deck cause I make my own music mix now from my library...so I can make cassettes for different travelling moods easily. Yes, MPS3 would be nice...but I can add that myself. Everything on my 1st works and it's 25 years old! To have a brand new version of what I ride now would be great! Still supporting two kidlets in college so no more $$. But yea...I would buy. What a bargain! david (drooling)
  13. Happy Birthday, Tippy and Squidley! Hope to meet you in the future! david:322:
  14. That's it! OK...now I know what is ahead. Really appreciate the pictures too! Thank you, Kevin!
  15. That is really well done. I'm envious as heck! Thank you so much for sharing! david
  16. Ahoy! Need to confirm: On a 1st Gen (1.2), the "neutral switch" is the same as the "gear selecter" switch...located at the very bottom of the bike...seen between the frame pieces but accessable by removing the cover. It is a white phenolic looking piece with a screws and electrical connections? Looks like mine is leaking....and from what I read here...it's not exactly easy to get to, clean and put a new seal on.... TIA, david P.S. No picture...can't get in there!
  17. Nice! Sure wish I could find one today.....really enjoyed that 250. Wheelies in first 3 gears....topped out at around 90....so darn fast. Either a late60's or early 70's 350 or a 250 would be nice...just to ride around town on. Loved the oil lube system. Pour oil in and forget it for a few days! Ah well...no room in the garage as is. Can't get truck in with both scoots! david
  18. That it does. Having spent the last year in New Hampshire after 40 plus years in Arizona...I can say..high humidity sucks! I'm glad to be back in the dry heat! So Puc...when are you moving to the Tucson area? Huh, huh? Grins... david
  19. Kev, Are you serious? 9,000rpm? I know everyone here talks about how good these engines are...but that is way over red line. I'm impressed!! Guess the secret is keep the valves in spec and good oil...and enjoy the ride! Thanks, I'm not going to worry about the engine at all...! david
