  5. Yikes! We can always get another scoot, but body parts are not that easy to replace! Glad you are OK! Wishing you a speedy recovery and then the fun of finding another ride or repairing yours!! God Bless... david
  6. Richard, Sorry I missed this post earlier. I was in Phoenix this weekend with my 89 VR. I could have stopped by and checked it out... david
  7. I'm going to Phoenix this weekend. No buggies around there..at least the kind we are supposed to find. Dreading the traffic...after the peace and quiet of Green Valley! Suck it up, David...you leave in 45 minutes!
  8. Ice cream! Makes sense to me......!! Good news Jeff....
  9. See if this works for you... http://www.wikihow.com/Flash-a-Phone david
  10. LOL! I can imagine! Yea, ch 20 ish would be better for range, but to many truckers out there stick around the ch's 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 area...and using their linear amps, make a mess out of the rest of us trying to communicate. A buddy of mine and I were on 22 until we hit I-20....geesh...so much noise I had the squelch almost all the way on. I think we'll try 29....that way if I do miss a Venture going by, maybe they'll yell out... Off to Phoenix this weekend....breakfast in Wickenburg on Sunday, and play around the Valley on Saturday!
  11. I was just going to ask...guess it's official: 29 Thanks guys from 2009! david
  12. Yikes! Prayers the healing goes well!
  13. Glad to hear your scoot is running well! Good job!
  14. Please...more info. I'm looking for new pipes as well. Mine are old and not looking so hot.
  15. Actually sounds very good! So what's available for the 1st Gen?
  16. Past: Honda 160, Yamaha DS6C Current: Yamaha 2009 VStar 950 Tourer, Yamaha 1989 Venture Royale
  17. That was fun......thanks!
  18. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-horns/motorcycle-horn-comparison.htm Well...be that as it may, I put the Stebel Compact on my VR and it is great. Had it for 5 months and it's loud. Put it on the right side, using the right side wires to trigger the relay for the horn. The left side stock horn is still there and working. Mounting was easy, wiring was easy. Looks and sounds fine.
  19. Don't know if this will help anyone....but Yamaha gas caps that are held together by two screws have a habit of getting out of alignment internally. Making it harder to take off. Also, if the screws get loose, they fall out into the tank with associated problems there. Best bet is everyone should loosen their screws (on the cap, ok?), and make sure the key works easily. Then put some locktite on the screw and snug them up. If adventurous, take cap apart and clean.... Preventive medicine...... Got this from my days with the 650 Classic...very common problem with them. 1100's had same type cap...like ours.
  20. On my 950T a while back near Cochise's hideout...65mph. My buddy rode beside me to take pic. Girlfriend's iPhone.
  21. My guess is you had some crud or water in gas??? Went through carbs and now gone...
  22. Oh my...this will be interesting! Lots of pics!!! david
  23. I concur with full tank, Stabil, tire pressure, on stand, block exhaust for mice, Battery Tender on battery or take battery out and put in house. Properly charged battery will not freeze. Shame the orange beastie isn't staying out here in AZ, I'd volunteer to help you ride her! OH! Thank his family for their service!!! david
  24. Bio, Yep..you are running lean. Not much actually...just enough to cause the popping. An air leak can cause same as well as an exhaust leak. But I'm betting lean due to less restriction in the pipes. I had the same problem with my last carb bike. Changed exhaust and made it more free flow caused an overly lean mixture...corrected by re-jetting in my case. One thing to think about...running slightly lean is good for gas mileage! You might consider taking bike to a dyno shop and have them run a test. Just to see how lean you are running...might be OK...(unless the popping really bothers you) To richen the carbs, either re-jet or shim the slider... I personally don't know what would be best for your bike... Sounds great though!! Thanks for the video... david
