I have both the GoPro and the JVC Addixxion cams. JVC is tiny with built in monitor. GoPro is a GoPro. Lots of good mounts available. I mounted the GP on my VStar 950T in two different places. Handlebar and on engine guard. The guard was more stable. The wind buffeted the cam on the handlebar. BUT, with both cams having such wide angle lenses, the buffeting and vibration isn't really that bad at all. Perfectly acceptable. The handlebar gave a better wide angle view of the scenery...the guard gave a better view of the road. I editing two hours of video down by speeding everything up and cutting out the boring sections. The wide angle lens does make the speed seem less than you are really going anyway, but the result was fun to watch. Venture: I will probably mount the cams in or under one of the rider air ducts on the first gen fairing or make a small plate that goes under the mirror mount and holds the cam just in front of the windshield. We shall see. The only way to go is one of these little cams. They are made for this kind of work. You start them then walk away for the duration of the ride. No distractions on your part. You can buy the JVC for under $200 and the new GP for less! The least expensive GP will do very well...for stills and video. Just experiment with the format settings and location mount to get the best "look" for you. I also carry a tiny Olympus point & shoot for my "get-off-the-bike-to-rest-my-butt" pictures...as well as my phone. If I can figure out a way to post a video...I'll do so.... david

Arizona lakes: Lake Pleasant, Lake Havasu and Roosevelt Lake are excellent sailing, beaching, partying lakes! Plus we are a days drive to San Diego and Marina Del Ray in LA, where we can sail off to Catalina Island for a week of bliss. The problem I have is sailing, golf and riding all take up a full day or more.....so I dropped golf! PUC, didn't notice the moose...that's funny! Good catch! Time to hitch up boat, get some ice in the cooler and enjoy! Have a great weekend guys and gals! Stay warm and safe...

Richard, Two things.... First, I would look over the pictures on this site and search the archives. You may be on to something regarding a missing bushing. I would go take pics for you but my 89 is stock...no heel/toe. Second. I run 20-50wt Yamalube year around here in southern AZ on both bikes. Our temps are cooler than PHX. Much better shifting and quieter. I spent 40 years in PHX and always ran heavier oil year around. I let both bikes warm up for a few minutes...being water cooled, I treat the 89 VR just like my car. 5w-30 is too lightweight I would think. Third (oops). Did you bleed down at the slave cylinder? I assume so. When I bled my clutch a few weeks ago...I went through almost a half pint of fluid getting the old stuff out and the line to run clear. Took a while, but the effort on the clutch is now so much better. Just an additional thought...since I was concerned how long and how much fluid it took for me to change out old for new....

Angelo....yep. Puc, it looks like you had a crack/split right below where the chunk fell out. In picture #1. Gotta think that the first indication of a problem is the split...then followed by the chunk blowout. Bet the heat added to the problem. Just like mine.....except I didn't get that far....just have the split. You were lucky, me thinks, my friend!

Me too. Had that happen outside of Mineola, Texas many moons ago. Fully loaded DS6C at freeway speed...wallowed back and forth....slowed down and coasted to a stop. Credit my past dirt bike riding in New Hampshire woods to keeping myself upright and "sashaying" to the side of the road!

Metzler 880's. I don't know how old...they "look" new...but had serious cupping when I got bike from underinflation. Cupping is reduced now due to my increasing air pressure to just under max of tires. Enclosed two pics show tire wear (lack of) and separation in tire. Cold this morning so doesn't look like much...but after ten miles at 70mph on Friday afternoon, the bulge was pronounced and easily felt....

No Amish around here. Did find a buggy though...but was riding VStar 950T. No snow either.....so youse guys and gals have fun finding this stuff...I'll until something comes up that I can get! Glad to see this thread is still alive!

Well...this past weekend was set for a nice run for the VR and I And my buddy with his HD Ultra. From home port in Green Valley south of Tucson...north to Phoenix, then I-17 to Flagstaff, down 89A to Sedona, Cottonwood, Phoenix then back to GV. Two days with overnights in Phoenix. Roughly 600 mile weekend. Left GV after lunch on Friday and got about ten miles at 70mph when the bike started shaking gently. Few more miles and I knew something was wrong. Pulled over and found the rear tire had a large crack developing on one of the tread ridges. I turned around and came home on back roads at 35. Swapped my gear to VStar 950T and took off. The only thing I can figure out is that the P.O. must have kept the tires at Yamaha pressures, not Metz tire pressures. When I got the bike 8 months ago..the tire pressures were right at factory recommendations. So...I put the pressures up to 44 rear, 38 front and liked the ride and handling. I ride mostly single so didn't need max load pressure. But guess the damage was already done by the P.O with the lower pressures.. Tomorrow I'll try to get some pics and post them. So guess I need to find some time to start tearing down the rear end of my 89 VR so I can get the wheel off. Going to check the drive train while I'm there....may have the dreaded broken shaft/nut since I have noise on decel and a slight intermittent oil leak by kickstand. Geesh...hope I remember where everything goes when it's time to put it all back together...! Grins!

LOL! I was riding the 950T 2 up last year and went through the speed trap on St Rt 89 between Congress and Prescott. (look it up on a map) They had two traps set....but since I was on the 950...I can't corner very fast as the footrests scrape easily and my wifemate would jab me in the side everytime. So I was only 10 over. Couple of crotch rocket guys got caught though.....(grins) . So Puc...when are you and Tippy moving down this way? Come ride from September to June...each year. Do Maintenance in summer!

You can get to Sedona VIA: Phoenix, Wickenburg, Prescott, Jerome then Sedona. Nice twisties...but cops do patrol for bikers who speed....

Geesh! Can't believe we missed everyone..... I was up in Sedona and 89A on Saturday....rode up the canyon to 6K feet elevation, then turned around and headed back to Sedona. Continued on 89A to Cottonwood then picked up I-17 and went back to Phoenix. Spent the weekend in Phoenix. Two pics from Sunset Point rest area on I-17 and one pic from Sedona. Buddy's HD Ultra and my 950T. Would have been on the Venture but had a tire separate and had to swap bikes!
