  1. I always knew the Venture was a big bike....but that really didn't sink in until I went to store today...and parked next to a Fiat. Yikes! What were you thinking I meant???
  2. Tricia, Yep, need to keep snacks on bike or in pocket. AND try to eat 5 small meals a day with two of those being healthy snacks. Maybe try some dried fruit. Dried apricots and such come in small bite size portions that will allow you to only eat enough to raise BS back up. Just a thought...I lived with a Type 1 Fragile for 8 months and learned a lot... Good luck... david
  3. Sure looks to short.....
  4. Mark, I know there is a cure to your problem and the clue is no tach.... I just don't remember what! Suggest you do a search using no tach as part of your search terms.... I'm almost positive the answer is here on site. Guys and gals here are great and very knowledgeable! Hope you join up.. Best bux you will ever spend!! Update. Just had a thought. The TCI is the computer that fires the plugs via the coils. The TCI is located under the battery box. If it's corroded inside or the connections are corroded... You will lose a plug or two and no tach. Sometimes is a simple matter of moving TCI to above the airbox and cleaning up connectors. The wires are long enough to move unit. You may have to open computer and clean out gunk. Possible you will need to replace some old capacitors too. The TCI is fired by sensors.... That's a small possibility though. These bikes are reliable and easy to fix. All these issues can be found searching this forum. Also suggest you read up on the First generation tech area where members have posted notes, pictures and more on all types of repairs...
  5. Question: A friend of mine saw a guy with a long beard at the Home Depot yesterday just south of Tucson on I-19. He was next to a 1989 blue Venture like mine. Anyone we know fit the description? Thanks, david
  6. Yep...been here for over 40 years.....don't think I could remember to change clock time twice a year. Geesh. Too much other stuff to do! Angelo....I'll try to remember to give you a shout if I ride up north....maybe you can join us!
  7. My Radio Shack has a small section of pull out drawers that has a lot of small parts (surprise to me). And I did see one chassis mount 5 pin connector in one of the small bins. FWIW....I don't remember seeing a drawer system like that at a RS in Phoenix. Maybe it's what the store manager wants to carry???
  8. Oh...and there's a DQ just up 219 from Marlington!! Hmmm....

    Ditto....
  10. I haven't had any surgery on the back yet....but have been researching it. I hope you have been too. My lady needs surgery in her lower back and we have gone over multiple doctors and techniques to get the various opinions. Best way we have found to get as much information as she needs to make a decision she is comfortable with. So far, she hasn't found a doc she likes... If you haven't searched the net for info...may I suggest: Learn More | Laser Spine Institute Back Surgery: Types, Recovery, Risks, and Benefits Back surgery: When is it a good idea? - Mayo Clinic Hope any of these will help answer your questions....
  11. https://youtu.be/E2lNz1LqYyQ Enjoy, david
  12. Jeff, let me know how it goes. I have the board but haven't ordered parts yet....still not sure about this whole thing. still don't have my head around how the thing goes together.....old age in the way I guess!
  13. You didn't let us down...nope! Just get well and get back out there and try again!
  14. Almost 7 hours....a few drips from by-pass valve once I started the bike....then nothing. No leak yet by the hose clamp. Guess I'll check again later tonight..
  15. Temp gauge has been reading fine. Takes a while to warm up, which now I understand, since the valve was closer to the by-pass position than the normal position . I just turned the valve to the proper position...moved easily... and am going to warm the bike up and watch the whole system. Wondering if it was on by-pass due to a warped thermostat cover or other issue. If no other problems pop up...I'll cut the hose clamp off and replace the hose...it's getting pretty soft. Ordered the bypass valve kit...and will do all that when it comes in.
  16. Thanks.....I'm just concerned why my valve is in the position it's in? Weird. In the middle....well, Guess I'll try turning it and see what happens. And the hose clamp...yep...cut the darn thing off. Replace the hose as well. This is the hose that can be matched close enough at an auto parts store, right? Thanks again.....
  17. I don't mind having a leakie or any other issue on the scoot. But this takes the cake. Look closely at the bottom clamp on the large hose to the left coming into the thermostat...the P.O. or some worker bee at a shop put the clamp on backwards. I'm not taking the motor out to replace the hose!!! Also notice my by-pass valve position. Interesting! So...which way do I turn it to get it right? Er....or left? Or?....
  18. May see some record heat here in the Southwest this week! With "WARM" regards, Prayers Up!
  19. Doug, If you weren't kidding about "cheap"...you can buy cheapo foam grips on EBay for $9 pair...or the Grip Puppies...more expensive but much better quality that will last. Amazon.com: Grip Puppy Comfort Grips: Automotive I've had mine for 6 months now and very comfortable... david
  20. I agree...I like to use them for winter riding...but want to close them solidly for summer. Don't need more heat in Arizona! I'll take a set as well....powdered black....sounds nice...

  22. Andy, Nice simple utility. I would be having fun locking in the white balance and experimenting with the cam. Thanks.... Now who wants to buy my JVC and GoPro? Grins!
  23. Decent footage but I don't like the way it changes white balance but still doesn't get it right on the cloudy day. Good picture though for the bux!
  24. Wishing You a Wonderful Day! Happy Birthday, Don!
  25. Final Update: Picked up tire on Thursday evening. 42 pounds of air. I spent weekend in Phoenix, came back and tire still holding 42! So guess the valve stem was the culprit. Looks like it was leaking on the inside of seal.... Thanks for your ideas!
