  1. Craig, those Corbin's sure do look nice. To spend around $1K for a seat, a backrest and a trunk mounted rest for her...is a bit much. Will keep this in mind though if I can find one used... Thanks! david
  2. Puc, Sodium intake is more about the sodium found in processed foods, not the table salt we use to season with. The amount of table salt we use is minor in terms of overall sodium intake. Putting less salt on foods will be negligible in terms of reducing your sodium intake. Yes it will be less, but minor in comparison. Eating less processed foods would be a major change....huge change. Yea...blood in urine after a procedure is normal for some time. Good to hear about the prostate. If that is the type of cancer you have, then observation is the best choice. Many guys have gone years without issues with a slow growing prostate cancer. Surgical choices have improved tremendously in the past 10 yeas...I imagine they will continue to improve as well...giving you a better outcome despite being older and less able to handle the stresses of surgery. Crossing fingies and toes....and...Prayers Up! david
  3. I did move the trunk back last week. She complained that it was nice to have more room, but that position still wasn't as good as the 1st gen with the adjustable back rest... sigh.
  4. Know what I just noticed? The new version doesn't appear to be able to be hand cranked! Shame of it all!
  5. Yep...did that as well. Caught it when reviewing pics of procedure from this site to see what I left out. Did I feel dumb? Yep!
  6. My problem is not that it's to hot, but that it lets the hot air in! It's getting to the point around here that it's time to go back to leather....anything over 102 or so and I want the leather back on. Yea, it's hot, but the hot air isn't sucking the life out of you...like this would.. david
  7. Here is the problem: Wifemate loves the adjustable backrest on the 1st Gen. She is small and has a bad back...and enjoys leaning back a bit. Unfortunately, In the 2nd Gen, Yamaha left that feature on the design room floor. Oberservation: I took the back rest off...3 screws and one bolt in center. Looks to me like I could use a router type tool and give the three screws a short fore/aft channel to slide in. Would need less than an half inch I would think to allow the unit to be "forced" backwards to achieve a slight lean. However, I would have to shave off some plastic on the backrest center bolt standoff to allow movement backwards. I'm a bit timid about shaving off plastic not knowing what is under there or how thick it might not be....SO......decided against that for the moment. Thinking I could also add padding in lower part of backrest and reduce it on top part to give the backrest a "lean angle" as well.....but have never worked on this type stuff. Maybe when Mr. Butler is better he can be talked into modifying my backrest! 1ST Solution attempt: Rather than drill, route out the top of the trunk, I decided to put a couple of washers on the center bolt so it would lift up the bottom of the backrest a tad more than 1/8inch. Just enough purchase left on the bolt to allow the washers and nut to tighten. This, in effect, pushes the bottom of the backrest up just a touch...leaning the backrest back a tad. Guess if I want more, I can go with a thinner washer. Don't think the thin plastic on the trunk lid will crack with the slight pressure. The 3 screws fit back in fine so everything "feels" like I did something right! We shall see if that helps any. Be a few weeks until we get to ride again....and then I'll know. david
  8. Sounds like you are bottoming out on the shocks or the shocks are hitting something at end of travel.. It would be normal to hear the click at the top of the system since the fairing will funnel the sound right up to you...as well as the mechanical linkage between the metal shocks and the metal suspension and steering are all tied together. I would put about 5 pounds of air in front shocks with manual pump and go for test ride. If she still bottoms out, you have two problems...both the springs and air suspension are not working. If the air helps, then the mechanical side (springs) are not working. Broken spring maybe? Something broke inside? Time to take things apart and a good looksee...
  9. I wave all the time. If someone doesn't reply, I think they either didn't see (most likely) or are a jerk. Of course if we are curving through the mountains I understand 2 hands on the bars. Also...most HD riders do respond. To me, those most likely not to respond are sport bike riders. To big for their high tech riding shorts and tshirts, I guess.
  10. Cool! Easy to do. Thanks for write up and pictures!
  11. Love your travels! I enjoy riding along...
  12. Morgan. Loved the looks of their +4 back in the 50's. And then the classic Super Sport.... Good to see they are still a round....!
  13. (I have used a lot of Seafoam, especially with the stuck float, would the new plugs I put in a month ago be fouled by the Seafoam? I did a pretty concentrated dose with the float, and have used a whole can over the last few weeks.) That does hurt the plugs, but doubt that would be the "all-of-a-sudden" problem...
  14. I keep putting in my bid...but am getting outbid. Sigh. Nice looking stuff, guys and gals!
  15. Greg...now that the scoot is running better...it would be a good time to go back over the plugs, wires and carbs to make sure she is running sweetly. You should be able to get over 160 miles to the tank with normal riding before reserve. "Normal" means keeping the wrist in check...most of the time...grins! At least that has always been my goal...40mpg's. Good to hear you are on the way!
  16. In our thoughts and prayers, my friend. You WILL beat this...ya hear!! Besides, I need to see you and Tip down here in AZ this Fall.....we have some nice rides down here! david
  17. Gee and here I was thinking about buying another WallyWorld set for my 05 RSV. I like them on my 09VStar. I was thinking the same area. Guess I'd better re-think under the floorboards! Grins!
  18. Pinwall has this pair for RSTD...seems the same. Can someone confirm? http://tinyurl.com/ptbomsm Thanks for the help. I had forgotten about Pinwall! As much as I would like new.....these seem to be about the same thickness as mine and look good. David
  19. Anyone help point me in the direction of best place to buy new front rotors for my 05 RSV? I'm a little tired of the web searches showing everything under the sun that I know WON"T FIT the 2nd Gen instead of only what I want...(using quotes doesn't help much anymore) thanks, david
  20. Really does look nice! Reminds of my youth when I rented Class A motorhomes and went to Disneyland/San Diego, etc.. Do miss those days! Maybe in a few years we'll get something else....(dreamin...)
  21. Yep. Brian....most of the time ignition noise making it into the audio circuits is from: noise on the power line (amp doesn't have very good circuits to filter it out), poor grounds, unshielded speaker amp circuit, etc.. The power and charging circuits of a bike is rudimentary...without much shielding as well....so audio noise on the 12 volt lines is a given. You will get rid of most of it with a good filter...but I would expect some left over. On both of my Ventures, there are at least two filters in the circuits and I still hear ignition noise on the intercom at certain volume. No biggie. Good luck! david
  22. I know normally docs don't do much for ribs...but 12? Sounds to me like a body cast would help a lot! Like you said, bones won't heal if they are moving around. Geesh! Well, l hope the next docs to work on you can get a better handle on their "practice" of medicine!
