JB, Since LED's are coming into their own, might I suggest you continue your post with install info and pics as well as RFI interference tests and current draw of your unit. I, for one, would like an LED headlight...but am waiting to hear more about the coverage and issues before I jump min. Thanks! david Well...just a few posts down the road I run across your post on the mods you did with pictures. Thanks! Do have one question: Went to web site...the motorcycle bulb unit doesn't say anything about hi/low beam???

Can't answer that...but hope you were the one who took out the diodes...right??!! -
This past Saturday, Pat and I got up at the crack of dawn and rode out to meet @KIC and his riding friends for a breakfast ride. We met and took off, heading south on Rt 83 down to Sonoita and on to Patagonia where we ate breakfast at the Stage Stop Hotel. From there we motored to Nogales then up I-19 towards Tucson. I broke off at exit 56 for home. Nice people, nice ride! Thanks Bill for inviting Pat and I and our 1st gens for a great ride! david Two pics: The gang and Bill's and my 89 VR's!

Everything I've read says the little holes MUST be lined up properly. I don't remember why...just remember it needs to be. SV carbs are very simple in theory and operation. Crap gas and time clogs the little holes and eats the diaphrams...so the theory remains viable just not sustainable. Since you have the problem anyway...my suggestion is to at least go back and check the diaphrams to make sure they are still mounted on the slides then turn them so they are lines up properly. At least from there, you can start troubleshooting knowing those two parameters are spot on.

Condor Fork brace on ebay?
videoarizona replied to Great White's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm not sure why this part is needed. I know it MUST be since it was made. BUT, what handling problems does the 1st gen have that requires a better fork brace? I crank my bike over pretty hard and don't feel any issues....? -
Thanks for sharing. I do enjoy following along! Have fun and be safe!

For years, I used to rent Class A motorhomes. 32 to 38 feet for short vacations to West Coast. Loved them. Then I got back into sailing. Tow a 23 foot sailboat, 4200 pounds, with a GMC Yukon XL with towing package. 12 to 14 mpg's at 65mph. Been towing it since 2004. Truck now has over 150K miles and still gets great mileage for a large truck. So I have experience towing, backing up large vehicles. That said...lady and I have decided when she retires (hopefully December), we want to travel more. Since I've already been to all 50 states and a good chunk of the world...maybe this time we get a motorhome and cruise the backroads of the USA. I like the room you get with slides but not the upkeep and lack of weatherproofing. I think I'll find a nice used one around 34' and tow the boat or the bikes. Can do both. I figure the lack of mpg's will be made up with no restaurants or hotels for much of the trip so that should be a break even. The big decision will be diesel or gas. With diesel I can get an overdrive...and that would help on long interstates. Since many of you like the pull outs..maybe I'll revisit that idea. Food for though....Interesting discussion. david

Top Box amber lens?
videoarizona replied to Great White's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Holy Yikes! No wonder you were a bit upset. The little amber lenses for me were $4.95 each... The prices you got....that's a really a ripoff for youse guys and gals up North! david -
Thanks to @Freebird for his article in the 1st gen tech section about the cassette. I read it through, for grins, and he reminded me that the belts need to be flat when running in the pulley grooves. Now...I've known this for years... but guess I forgot!! His mention in the article lit the dim light bulb I call a brain ... outside I went to take the cassette out, take it apart and re-arrange the belts. Works much better now! Duh! So thanks, Don.... david

Top Box amber lens?
videoarizona replied to Great White's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
GW, Go back to the site and put in the item number (first number in description) in the search area...top left on main page. I found all three doing that and they were so cheap, I bought one of each for backup. Although I think I will install some LEDs in there for run/break and turn at some point. I already have the "YAMAHA" red band lit up under the trunk... Even with the exchange, they should be cheap enough...as they were around $26 US total with shipping for me. -
Something isn't right with VA. They should have strapped you tighter than a drum by now to limit movement. Is there a VA office you can go to and file a complaint? Or, since they can't seem to get to you at all, maybe request a civilian doc paid for by VA? I'm not in VA since I didn't get in while the getting in was good...but do know that different offices around the country handle situations like this better than others. Lots of friends in VA and some have great experiences, others, not so good. Patient Advocate/Representative to talk to? I know they exist to help solve problems... Wishing you better luck down the road! david

Eric, Sounds like the quiet side would be a pair of HD mufflers. Any Road King type works well. Slightly louder than stock with a deeper rumble. No problem at all at high speed.... You will have to make a brace for the rear end to hold it up then a spacer to connect the stock header pipe to the RK muffler. Easy to do though....Sorry, I don't ahve an audio file....

That is a beautiful area. In my next life, I want to live there! Enjoy!

Probably can cut it off, the radio won't care....but why not unplug it from inside fairing and take it off? Little more work but then you can sell it as they are not commonplace.
