If memory serves, the Chrysler 200 is really an Italian product. A little Maserati or something like that. One of those brands owned by Fiat. Supposed to be a good car...but the little engine is buzzy...the bigger motor is better. And yes, I've heard they do have some problems...

Good Cheap Bike Jack?
videoarizona replied to ChiefCass's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My el cheapo Harbor Freight has lasted 3 years, so far. (knock on wood)... Took it with me to New Hampshire...where it spent most of 8 months in a storage place sitting vertically against the wall. Still works just fine and lifts my scoots without issue. Only problem I had was getting used to how to lower. It seems if you press gently on pedal, it drops like a stone. If you smash the pedal down...it lowers with more control. I've heard the speed of lowering can be adjusted, but haven't got that far. I raise and lower by myself now. -
Fuel Tank Arithmetic (I HATE math with a passion!)
videoarizona replied to Semi-retired's topic in Watering Hole
So went for a ride this morning to see if my right wrist was controllable. Answer: Yes. 41.4 mpg...mixture of 80mph in 5th gear and 55-65mph in 4th gear. Went to see Colossal cave near Tucson...breakfast at Vail Steakhouse. Bad picture...lens must have been crudded up! -
Looking for a discontinued part.............

Yep. I laid my scoot down walking it backwards into a driveway...left side. When I first got it. Dirt road. Big dip and no place to put left foot....went over to far for me to hold. Scratched that very area of the plastic. Some chrome there would be nice to cover that up!! -
Passing lights electrical Question

I was thinking of running them all the time as well....with maybe an optional switch to turn them off if I ever have a charging issue. Well.... thanks. -
Carb Vacuum Ports
videoarizona replied to AlbertaClipper's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
((I have read you can possibly hook the two vacuum ports together on each side of the bike to get better low end performance. Has anyone done this? If so what were the results?)) The Previous Owner did that on my 2005. I've seen no problems with that. Just one tube between the two on each side. No performance issues, idle issue or mpg issues. Seems to be fine so I'm leaving it. Supposedly, it was done by him to reduce backfiring on decel. Not sure that helped as I still have some...but with HD mufflers on, I kind of like the rumble and noise! -
Carb Washer Shimming
videoarizona replied to VerntureVet's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Robert, This idea has been around a while. I remember this from another bike years back. But your pics and explanation actually made sense to this brain dead and tired guy! So...Thanks! david -
I understand about relays and such. My question is basic. Did Yamaha have a wire(s) setup in the wiring harness for passing lamp installation? One would think they would have a plug sitting in the fairing waiting for the dealer to plug in the passing lamps! They did supply the optional kit for the physical lamps themselves and the bar to install them. Or....are we on our own to splice in how we want the lamps to be triggered? Didn't see any mention of any factory connectors in the older posts.... TIA, david

Carb sync confirmation
videoarizona replied to videoarizona's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Anyone know who came up with the simple idea of using their thumbnail on the tank to see if carbs were in sync? I felt a big difference running at around 60 in 4th gear...between before and after I sync'd the carbs. Whoever figured that out, thank you! david -
This is from an older post. Wondering if the numbers are right RE the limiter. This is the first time I've seen a number put to the limiter. If so, what the heck is going on? 6300 rpm is nothing for these motors!!!! @Venturous Randy where did you get these numbers?? Just curious....don't doubt you...but wondering why Yamaha would set the limiter so low, when my 1st gen will crank past 7500rpm! david

What Fall colors? We are still to green from all the rain. (this is Arizona?) Guess I had better think about a Fall trip to Payson.....hmmm. -
That is pretty cool. I didn't think of that, but went out and spent a few bux on this little guy for the 950 Tourer. Hmmm...here is one from China...for about what a large zip tie might cost??? http://tinyurl.com/o4g5f89 mine was from the US for around $9 at cycle gear. Do like it...although I can't take hands off bars...

did i buy a lemon?
videoarizona replied to douglasp.burdick's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yep...good. Now lower the front end between 3/4 to 1 inch...and while you are there, test the steering bearings for being to loose. Techniques and quick fix threads are both fairly recent here in the forum...check the tech area... -
Taller final drive?
videoarizona replied to douglasp.burdick's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Check to make sure your carbs are synched. If not, you will get more vibration than normal in 5th gear at highways speeds. Hence the "feeling" that your bike should have a 5th gear. Put your fingernail on the tank at speed. If it's virbration buzzy, your carbs need synch. If it's a minor vibration, you are good. Wish I could find who originally wrote about the fingernail thing...but it is so true! Whoever figured that out, my hat's off to you! Thanks! david -
