  1. Good to hear, Jeff. About the rider. Glad to hear the scoot survived as well!
  2. Just did. Good idea! We shall see... david
  3. It should come off straight up. Orient the arrow on cap straight forward and keep at it. Please let us know where you are with this and what else you have tried.
  4. Got same answer....so guess it does have the check valve...
  5. Rodney, make sure you take off the engine brace beside the front two cylinders. makers it mucho easier to get to the plugs....
  6. I emailed seller about the stop valve. I'll report back what they say.
  7. Heather...that is exactly how my HF jack works. Backwards in my mind but it does work. Sigh. Slam that pedal down, Son!
  8. Solved the problem the old fashioned way...order an AGM battery. No more fills and spills. BTW, the battery still shows good voltage but with it needing to be overfull to charge properly....I decided I'm done with wet batteries. Now to figure out if the landfill will take the battery!
  9. GW, Prayers Up to the family and to you....in the loss of your friend.
  10. I know this is an old thread. But just ran across it and can't stop laughing! This should be a sticky to show how good the humor is on this forum. (or how sick we are)
  11. So, with a newer type battery then Jeff, I would need to change out the resistor to around 2K ohms and run the other end to bike/frame ground or to the battery ground?
  12. Jeff, liquid is acid. Battery is leaking around top on left side somewhere as it's leaking while off bike being charged. Just checked. The resistor is going to a white wire with red/orange (?) stripe. I think the battery is toast. Only charges when fluid levels are high enough to do so...and that's above the "FULL" line on the battery. I think that is why the battery is leaking...it's overfull....and boiling out the seam around the top and the side case. When level is where it should be, the battery stays on charge for way to long. My Battery Tender chargers are slow, but they do shut off!
  13. Interesting situation: Lately my 89 has been acting weird when starting. Like a battery going bad problem. So last week, I put it on the Deltran charger and noticed a few hours later, the red light was still on. Still charging. Hmm...something is not right here. I go to check it, and find the water level is down in 1/2 the cells! What? My first thought was overcharging. But the gauge acts normal when riding and at stop! So I take out the trusty meter and connect to battery to see what is going on with charging system. At idle and at running rpm, charging is good. I Measured volts while running. 13.2 with everything on at idle....13.8 and slowly climbing with everything on at 3K rpm...nothing stands out. Both the meter and the gauge on the bike show normal. I took the battery out and don't see any cracks in the case. There was water/acid in battery compartment though. Could be vibration is causing the crack (if it exists) to leak while riding. If this is the case this will be the first time a battery has leaked on me. I have battery on Battery Tender charging.....no leaks or overflow so far. Question #1: What else am I overlooking? BTW, the PO put a resister in the circuit AND this battery does have the sensor! Question #2: If I replace with a sealed unit....will this resister setup work?
  14. Hmm....must think about this. I do love boats.
  15. Makes me want to take a road trip to this guy's house and have a conversation with him. Grrrrr!
  16. If the screws are loose in the cap, you can usually turn key and hold...then wiggle cap to one side or the other.... while gently pulling up. Eventually you should be able to get it off. Two things: One... dirt or corrosion holding one of both extrusions from retracting... or Two... The two screws are loose and assembly not in alignment. Be advised... If screws... one or both missing... They may be in tank. Common problem with VStars as well.
  17. Thanks for the thought. I'm running Shinkos front and rear. They do ride nice and stick like glue. I'm keeping pressure up and hope to get good mileage like you did!
  18. Best Western in Hershey, Pa. Close to everything but mold and mildew everywhere. They sprayed some stuff but would not drop the rate or move us. Full. I was taking my daughter to Boston for her Masters degree studies. I wrote a nice letter to BW and got a nice response and some compensation. But still...no excuse for mold and mildew on inside walls and rug near door. BTW, I told them I thought the problem was the condensation draining from the AC units above us were running right down the walls. The maintenance guy looked at it and shrugged. Guess he thought it was normal. Never again for that placed. BTW, most of my BW nights have been really pleasant.
  19. I would be sorely tempted to make the switch even though my Shinkos are new and running nicely!
  20. Usually never have any issues. My try this evening netting 43 seconds to load this page: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/index.php I waited and it did come up. At bottom left Chrome said it was waiting for venturerider blah, blah... There was some disc activity on my puter during this time frame...intermittent. Nothing stood out unless some ad or cookie was being loaded/interrogated and/or responded to. Interesting.... Good luck, Boss, finding this problem! david
  21. Don, Get a 1st Gen Shield yet? david
  22. I'm on Lisinopril as well. Still a little high but no more "dizzies". And yes, Sleep Apnea was on my docket as well. Resmed S9 is now part of my nightly routine!~ Hope you can get a handle on your BP... GW! david
  23. Yay! Another Happy Birthday! Success on making it through another year!! Congrats... david
