Gas cap stuck
videoarizona replied to mralex714's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If the screws are loose in the cap, you can usually turn key and hold...then wiggle cap to one side or the other.... while gently pulling up. Eventually you should be able to get it off. Two things: One... dirt or corrosion holding one of both extrusions from retracting... or Two... The two screws are loose and assembly not in alignment. Be advised... If screws... one or both missing... They may be in tank. Common problem with VStars as well. -
Thanks for the thought. I'm running Shinkos front and rear. They do ride nice and stick like glue. I'm keeping pressure up and hope to get good mileage like you did!

Best Western in Hershey, Pa. Close to everything but mold and mildew everywhere. They sprayed some stuff but would not drop the rate or move us. Full. I was taking my daughter to Boston for her Masters degree studies. I wrote a nice letter to BW and got a nice response and some compensation. But still...no excuse for mold and mildew on inside walls and rug near door. BTW, I told them I thought the problem was the condensation draining from the AC units above us were running right down the walls. The maintenance guy looked at it and shrugged. Guess he thought it was normal. Never again for that placed. BTW, most of my BW nights have been really pleasant.

I would be sorely tempted to make the switch even though my Shinkos are new and running nicely!

Been having problems getting our site to load, any one else?
videoarizona replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Usually never have any issues. My try this evening netting 43 seconds to load this page: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/index.php I waited and it did come up. At bottom left Chrome said it was waiting for venturerider blah, blah... There was some disc activity on my puter during this time frame...intermittent. Nothing stood out unless some ad or cookie was being loaded/interrogated and/or responded to. Interesting.... Good luck, Boss, finding this problem! david -

I'm on Lisinopril as well. Still a little high but no more "dizzies". And yes, Sleep Apnea was on my docket as well. Resmed S9 is now part of my nightly routine!~ Hope you can get a handle on your BP... GW! david

Took a long weekend to the Mountains. Payson, Arizona
videoarizona replied to videoarizona's topic in Watering Hole
Scott and Steve... Arizona does have some really nice 2 lane rides. 260 is one of them. But being Arizona, most of the rides need to be done in the Spring or Fall as the summer heat is a bit much for "most people" (Puc....sigh, what can I say. You do like heat)...even up north. March/April...October/November are prime riding months....although I did ride my little 250 DS6C around the northern part of AZ in the summer of 1970...summer of 100 days over 100 degrees in Phoenix! I got out of town a lot! Bill, Don't know if I can make the Saturday ride...but maybe Sunday at the church. But lets talk if you have time when you get settled... david -
extreme popping and back firing - help
videoarizona replied to cntnvision's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
(I host a root beer run there every year on the last Saturday in June.) Illinois. Sigh. Why cant all the good things be located closer to me! If I rode up to your part of town, I could visit Venture riders for 2 months and stay within 500 miles of you all. Guess I should start thinking of a road trip back East!- 29 replies

extreme popping and back firing - help
videoarizona replied to cntnvision's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That's going to be hard, Mike. The last soda fountain in Phoenix no longer serves the old style root bear and I haven't seen an A&W stand in a while. Dad's isn't on to many shelves either. There was a old time name that sold the best root beer in bottles, haven't seen that in so long I no longer remember the name. Maybe it's still back East... I love good old fashioned root beer!- 29 replies

Me to.....wanted to try F4's since I'm a fan of the large, vented shields from Clearview. But October is a bad month for me with property taxes, vehicle registrations, etc., all due in one month. I hope Don does this again next Spring....(hint!) Thanks, Don for offering this sale to our members! david

Browsing youtube today...saw this film. Cool ride. From NYC to San Francisco....the old Lincoln Highway still exists in most parts of the country. Basically, it was a marketing dream of a couple of guys to produce a series of roads into a legend making route across the country. Lots of cool places to visit, stay and eat. I need to look up the routes now available and see what it would take to do the trip. Like to do that ride some day.... If you get a chance...look it up on youtube and watch. 56 minutes or so... UPDATE: Took off the 2 vacuum hoses and capped all 4 vacuum outlets on carbs. Went for a scoot test run. (that's how I justified it anyway). Ran so much better. Seriously. I remember I posted somewhere a while back that I was mystified as to why the 1st gen motor ran so smoothly up to rpm's and the 2nd gen (mine) didn't. Well...the Jason mod was the issue. Now it climbs rpm's nicely, quickly and smoothly. Now it does feel like the same engine as what's in my 1st gen! Done with that, thanks!
-
Thanks, Robert....think I'll go pull the mod off my scoot as well. Never could get a definitive answer about splitting the vacuum that satisfied me...

Yep. My rear chunked but front was great. Got rid of both though....no trust left. I think you are good to go with ME on front...

How far have you driven on Reserve Fuel?

How far have you driven on Reserve Fuel?
videoarizona replied to Du-Rron's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You guys are nuts! I try and gas up around 120-150 miles and don't like to ride over 75mph indicated. Usually lots of gas left. Fuel level drops rapidly on either scoot over 80 indicated! I let others pass me...I'm good with that. Guess I don't like to walk.... -
Carb sync confirmation
videoarizona replied to videoarizona's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It doesn't take much to add a little bit of buzz. Mine was running and starting good before and after...but do have less buzz on tank. Guess I must be close on the carbs! -
A buddy on his HD Ultra and I took off last week to spend a few days in Payson, AZ. Did some much needed work on the deck. Saturday we took off for a ride up on the Mogollon Rim. Pronounced "Mug-ee-own". It's a mile high escarpment that cuts across above Payson. When I first came to AZ in 1969, we used to camp all over the place up there to beat the heat in Phoenix. I brought up my VStar 950 Tourer on the trailer as I needed to use the truck to carry wood and tools for the work we needed to do to "pay the rent" so to speak. The two scoots on the rim road to Woods Canyon Lake. Didn't realize how long the 950T was. Me and my little scoot....Think I'll go back up in 2 weeks with a Venture. I left the tools up there so I could ride up the back way from Tucson. Hiway 260...looking west back toward Payson. Nice ride.

Carb sync confirmation
videoarizona replied to videoarizona's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Put your thumbnail on the tank at speed. If the tank is really "buzzing", your carbs are out of sync. If it's not objectionable then they are good. That's what I remember from a post.... david -

RainX now has a plastic version of their famous product. I'm going to try some as soon as I can find it in the store.. Used the glass version on my Slipstreamer and no issues. Love the way the rain just beads up and moves off....
