  1. Wizard has a good proceedure, Puc. If that doesn't work (I'll be surprised if it doesn't)...then you do need to delete the wireless adapter info...then reboot and insert adapter and fill in the blanks. IE, treating the adapter like it's brand new to the puter. Only way I could get my Toshiba lappie to work once the files were corrupted.
  2. Scott, You need to go in and erase all information the laptop has about the wireless networking...including the passwords. Vista and Win XP both had that issue and the only cure I found was to erase everything and anything to do with network and start over. Somehow this stuff gets corrupted once in a while and that is what worked for me. Your timing is impeccable, my office puter, running Win XP, just started asking me for my password and now won't let me send out emails. Guess tomorrow that will be my job...erase network stuff from email client and start over. Sigh... Hope this works for you...
  3. Ugh...nope. It was bloated and not really photogenic... If you know what I mean. On side of road... Rt 260 just up on Mogollon Rim.
  4. Finally got around to uploading the video. Not good quality as it was later in day, sun going down and the only position I could find to mount camera on RSV without excessive vibrations was low on bars. 2 ways for you to do this: 1: Dropbox and download and/or 2: Vimeo and stream. https://www.dropbox.com/s/52afmsfcdq7lsez/Devils%20Highway%202015.mp4?dl=0 https://vimeo.com/153192215 HD 720p on both sites. BTW, click on the "Vimeo" name and it will take you to the site where you can watch in full screen...also...I edited the video way down...threw in some "2nd Gen Turbo Boost" scenes (300% video speed) and left in only the different types of scenery as you go from 9,000 feet to 3,000. It's 46 minutes...and even @cowpuc is mentioned! Anyway... Hope this helps someone who is planning on coming out... david
  5. Rats, skunked again!
  6. Why?
  7. To continue this thread: I ordered the 2nd (lost somewhere) bumper that normally buffers between the inner fairing and the triple tree. Since My bars no longer sit close due to the Baron's extensions, I found what I think will be a good place to mount them now that I have some space between the inner fairing and the bars. See a few posts up ^ with pics. Here is the orientation that seems to fit best..actually touching both the bottom of the inner fairing and the bars. And here is what they would look like once installed. I may have to trim them a bit to get the angle right...I'll know that when the 2nd one comes in by end of week. Any negatives about this placement I might be missing? Should I find some 3M double sticky tape to mount to inner fairing or just epoxy the suckers to the fairing and not worry about them anymore? If I place them right against the bars, they should provide damping action just fine... TIA, david
  8. Steve, In our Yamaha parts manuals, the part number designates the sizes of the bolts. Sorry that I don't remember what part of the number means what, but either someone will chip in or you can search the older posts. I know the explanation is around here somewhere!
  9. Just tried it. Fun! Like it....Thanks Boss:clap2:!
  10. Thanks, Dion. I got a response from a dealer mechanic.. He said the valve is designed to keep gas in tank if bike goes down but should vent air back into tank. Not sure about the last part... Went for a run today to check out Chinese tach and RSV pulled right up to limiter. Maybe it was just a clog. Put a new filter in this part summer. BTW, tach was junk.
  11. Update on this thread. I never felt a need to see the rpm's on the RSV but curiosity finally got me. Ordered one of those little cheapo's from China and went for a run today. not even close. Even with fiddling with the settings couldn't hold an accurate rpm if it's life depended on it. Took the back off and saw one circuit board and battery sealed with goop. Tried re-setting and went for another ride. If anyone wants to believe 35 mph is 240 rpm in 1st gear....good for them. But not for me. At least it came off quickly! Rip! P.S. Well... it was interesting! Did see 6K rpm as a max rpm...only once...then that disappeared, never to return no matter how many times I played with the ignition switch.
  12. Scenerio: Took off the vent hose from tank wanting to check to see if it was blocked. I seem to now have a fuel starvation issue at high rpms full throttle. Could be spark related but new plugs and timing and advance are not adjustable. Question: I tried to blow into the vent hose but felt a lot of back pressure...like it was blocked. Is this the result of the roll over valve in the vent line? Should I have sucked instead of blown to check if valve was plugged? (down guys!!) TIA, david
  13. Took the Blue Beastie for a spin around the neighborhood. She needed a run and some food! Madera Canyon snow. Tucson way off in the background.... Nice day....
  14. That's kind of what we are thinking....the dissimilar metal thing strikes again. Thanks Puc!

  16. A friend of mine owns a 2012 Ultra Classicand we ride together as much as we can around Arizona. He's had two issues since he bought the scoot: 1. An occasional oil leak we haven't been able to find source...from around the oil filter. Intermittent. 2: His shift shaft broke inside the motor somewhere resulting in a partial teardown to repair. Something about dissimilar metals??? Any of these ring a bell? (sorry for hijacking post but help appreciated) david
  17. Yep! Spent 6 years in Colorado. Saw almost every 2 lane they had in my Austin Healey. Gunnison and the entire middle of the state is stunning. david:biker:
  18. Testing bikes beyond what a human rider would care to go for fear of physical harm. That makes sense to me. Also, parallel testing of robotic functions and controls. Pretty cool...

  20. Larry, so far I've haven't found a mounting position I really like on my 89 VR or my 05 RSV. It's either to high and vibrates like mad or to low and makes me sick to watch the road going by at what looks like a gazillion miles an hour. Not a good visualization of what I see. I ruled out the windshield based on other comments but am hesitating on the helmet as well. Don't want the aerodynamic drag, additional noise of wind flow and prefer a more stable environment as I'm always looking around. Chest mount is a possibility but not sure I would care to keep putting the harness on/off, on/off. Sigh...
  21. (And I thought I remember someone insisting that they were immune to my toys.......................) Silly me...
  22. Art, I would stick to 720P resolution. It is Real HD, even though many marketing people don't agree. They think 1080 is the only Real HD. Sorry to disappoint them but real hd specs are both. Besides, 720P is far better for moving video and much smaller file sizes as well. Easier to edit, transfer and upload as well. As far as the camera mount. Looks like a good solution for ya. I'm still not sure that's what I want to do...but do appreciate your pictures and explanations! Vimeo is excellent, but not needed unless you really want to preserve high end video quality. I used to use Vimeo for my film and video business (important to show clients great stuff), but have since taken most of my pro stuff off the account and only have a few things left there...don't know why I'm even saving them. Hmmm....I think after seeing your video, I think I'll take one of the curved sticky mounts for the GoPro and just put that camera on the helmet and walk away. Better than trying to fudge a mount for the scoots and I'm coming up on prime riding season down here. I prefer the JVC but maybe I can figure out a good place for it on one of the scoots. Thanks, Art. Stay safe and enjoy the camera. Oh, for inexpensive editing software that is truly fully functional...try Sony. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudio I have the Pro version and have been able to send edited projects to theaters, broadcast, extremely large screen presentations, the web and everywhere in between. It simply works. Unless you on a MAC. david
  23. Got the word last night that wifemate wants to try MC camping as well....so... This is about the least expensive MC camper....about $3K plus a hitch and wiring for bike. There are bigger and heavier ones but the price goes up considerably. I like this one better...it's bigger but more $$. http://www.openroadoutfitters.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=91_122&products_id=191 And another: http://www.trailmasterinc.com/sentry/sentryindex.html Don't think she would go @KIC's route...we already "camp out" in a 23 foot sailboat...so she knows that and is good with it. So...guess I need to start watching Craig's List and start studying about pulling 300 pounds behind the scoot! Sigh...
  24. @Flyinfool said: ((Puc that is whats called collateral damages. Just one of the perks of living close to me.)) That's not collateral damage! This is in my front yard in Arizona. This is what I call collateral damages! Grins!! (going to be over 60 today - think winter has about run it's course down here....maybe!)
