  1. Here's another thought I'm questioning: Has anyone added a separate power amp and simply taken the speaker outputs from our Yamaha amp and fed a secondary power amp to send more horsepower to the speakers? I know there are amps out that do this...and curious if anyone has done this mod to their 2nd gen scoots?
  2. I've had the original grip Puppies on all 3 scoots. Very happy with them. Worth every penny of the $25 clams I paid. So far, the 950T Gp's are 3 years old and look new. They made the grips larger and more comfortable. david
  3. I think the best thing we can all do is check our own posts, then if we have any photo issues...send the photos and info to Don and then he can fix them on his schedule. And yes...thank you Sir Don for all you have done for us! I'm going to look up my posts and see if I have any issues...
  4. Portsmouth where?
  5. Here ya go.... note...there are two different pictures/diagrams...depends upon what year your bike is... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?92274-How-do-you-quot-Jumper-the-CMU-quot-for-LED-s-bulbs-to-prevent-the-warning-light-coming-on&highlight=jumpers BTW, I used the search term "jumper cmu". Sometimes I'm lucky in searching...other times I can't get the term right to find anything!
  6. Congrats! I'm loving every minute of my retirement...and now the lady retires on the 5th, just two more days! Whoo hoo! Take it easy at first, enjoy getting bored...then slowly start with the honey-doos and get things done you've been putting off. Trust me on this...take your time getting used to all the free time. Soon you to will be wondering when you ever had time to work! david
  7. Larry, spoke to my buddy...he was a crew chief on the T38's as well. I told him your battery story...He laughed and said "Been there, done that"! So guess it's a normal event with the T38!! He got a good chuckle about the memory... Thanks, david
  8. Mark, there is a pin out for the tape unit....don't know if that exists for the rest of the system. But go to the 1st gen venture tech talk section...read only...and search there. Should be the schematics and wiring diagrams for the scoot. BTW, do highly recommend you pay the $12/year and join up. And fill in your profile so we know more about you and your bike. Best bux you've ever spent will be right here. Lots of good folks...ready to help... david
  9. Yea, I know. But I do enjoy the old technology. I'm retired from working with state-of-the-art video/tv and audio stuff....and like the old stuff more. I still have a tube amp (Dynaco) around and two reel to reels that work well. Even the Dynaco pre-amps and power amps I built back in the mid 60's still work. Besides, mixing my own mixes for various riding moods keeps me busy and allows me to change tapes as my mood changes. Now I'm thinking about how to add a 32 gig thumb drive to the RSV aux input.
  10. Larry, I've got to tell your story to my buddy who worked on T-38's back when Moses was a Senior Master Sargent! He's retired now and has some stories of his own. He was in Big Springs, Tx.
  11. Funny...I just went to walmart dot com and ordered a new 7 pack of 90 minute cassette tapes! $9.80 with free shipping. I'm going to be laughing about this for a week. Now my scoots will have new tapes to play! Guess if Yamaha can supply the cassette decks...walmart can sell tapes for us. Hmmm...now what kind of mixes should I create?? grins, david
  12. Lots of people have played around with that. Search the older posts. One problem that is easy to solve is the tape deck is tied into the amp system and if unplugged, the system must be jumpered so the amp thinks the deck is still around. Remember though that the intercom, CB, radio tuner and tape deck all use the same amplifier. So it is probably easier to simply remove them all and go bluetooth on helmet and add a separate tuner/amp tied into stock speakers. With bluetooth you have everything (except the cassette deck) and add the ability to talk to other riders with bluetooth.
  13. Pulls a wheelie at 190mph. Sigh...cool...but not for me.
  14. Wizard has a good proceedure, Puc. If that doesn't work (I'll be surprised if it doesn't)...then you do need to delete the wireless adapter info...then reboot and insert adapter and fill in the blanks. IE, treating the adapter like it's brand new to the puter. Only way I could get my Toshiba lappie to work once the files were corrupted.
  15. Scott, You need to go in and erase all information the laptop has about the wireless networking...including the passwords. Vista and Win XP both had that issue and the only cure I found was to erase everything and anything to do with network and start over. Somehow this stuff gets corrupted once in a while and that is what worked for me. Your timing is impeccable, my office puter, running Win XP, just started asking me for my password and now won't let me send out emails. Guess tomorrow that will be my job...erase network stuff from email client and start over. Sigh... Hope this works for you...
  16. Ugh...nope. It was bloated and not really photogenic... If you know what I mean. On side of road... Rt 260 just up on Mogollon Rim.
  17. Finally got around to uploading the video. Not good quality as it was later in day, sun going down and the only position I could find to mount camera on RSV without excessive vibrations was low on bars. 2 ways for you to do this: 1: Dropbox and download and/or 2: Vimeo and stream. https://www.dropbox.com/s/52afmsfcdq7lsez/Devils%20Highway%202015.mp4?dl=0 https://vimeo.com/153192215 HD 720p on both sites. BTW, click on the "Vimeo" name and it will take you to the site where you can watch in full screen...also...I edited the video way down...threw in some "2nd Gen Turbo Boost" scenes (300% video speed) and left in only the different types of scenery as you go from 9,000 feet to 3,000. It's 46 minutes...and even @cowpuc is mentioned! Anyway... Hope this helps someone who is planning on coming out... david
  18. Rats, skunked again!
  19. Why?
  20. To continue this thread: I ordered the 2nd (lost somewhere) bumper that normally buffers between the inner fairing and the triple tree. Since My bars no longer sit close due to the Baron's extensions, I found what I think will be a good place to mount them now that I have some space between the inner fairing and the bars. See a few posts up ^ with pics. Here is the orientation that seems to fit best..actually touching both the bottom of the inner fairing and the bars. And here is what they would look like once installed. I may have to trim them a bit to get the angle right...I'll know that when the 2nd one comes in by end of week. Any negatives about this placement I might be missing? Should I find some 3M double sticky tape to mount to inner fairing or just epoxy the suckers to the fairing and not worry about them anymore? If I place them right against the bars, they should provide damping action just fine... TIA, david
  21. Steve, In our Yamaha parts manuals, the part number designates the sizes of the bolts. Sorry that I don't remember what part of the number means what, but either someone will chip in or you can search the older posts. I know the explanation is around here somewhere!
  22. Just tried it. Fun! Like it....Thanks Boss:clap2:!
  23. Thanks, Dion. I got a response from a dealer mechanic.. He said the valve is designed to keep gas in tank if bike goes down but should vent air back into tank. Not sure about the last part... Went for a run today to check out Chinese tach and RSV pulled right up to limiter. Maybe it was just a clog. Put a new filter in this part summer. BTW, tach was junk.
  24. Update on this thread. I never felt a need to see the rpm's on the RSV but curiosity finally got me. Ordered one of those little cheapo's from China and went for a run today. not even close. Even with fiddling with the settings couldn't hold an accurate rpm if it's life depended on it. Took the back off and saw one circuit board and battery sealed with goop. Tried re-setting and went for another ride. If anyone wants to believe 35 mph is 240 rpm in 1st gear....good for them. But not for me. At least it came off quickly! Rip! P.S. Well... it was interesting! Did see 6K rpm as a max rpm...only once...then that disappeared, never to return no matter how many times I played with the ignition switch.
