  1. There are some inexpensive wired mics out in web land. Some with headsets too. Just make sure they end in standard 5pin DIN plug....You can use an old style computer keyboard cable for an extension if needed.
  2. Actually, here is a Costco in Prescott, on rt 69 very close to where rt 89 is to go the back way into Sedona. I wonder how many people I can get in to a Costco with my card if all we want to do is eat hot dogs!
  3. Cool beans. Saw that on CBS news this morning. Guess these guys have missed the boat as far as spreading the news about hot dogs. They have had plenty of years to wrap up the hot dog franchises! http://www.wienerschnitzel.com/food/hot-dogs/ I personally love the Costco Hot dogs! $1.50 with drink and free saurkraut!!
  4. Prayers to Linda and family! And Jonesy ....wishing you Godspeed on your new journey.... Keep the rubber side down!
  5. In my playing around with the slime compressor, I don't think it's a high volume unit. Rather low volume, high pressure unit. Takes a while to pump up a tire, gets very hot. But I do think it could blow the seals quickly on shocks.
  6. Agreed. Doesn't sound like the tire caused the fall. But what else could have? Agreed also about riding the VR. My buddy who rides an HD Ultra Classic is impressed by how fast my 89 is.
  7. CJ, while riding a 250cc Yamaha DS6C from New Hampshire to Arizona, I had a rear tire go flat outside of Mineola Texas. The wonderful way the town took care of me is another story (being a serviceman heading for new duty station). But that's another story. The only indication I had was I found myself slowing down, then the rear end started to sashay down the road.... I pulled over and rear was flat. That was the only indication I had the tire was flat. Sorry to hear about RSV.... But do think you will thoroughly enjoy the VR!!
  8. Yes! It's works great....lasts a long time on charge and sits nicely in the cassette door when it's open. I keep forgetting to put some velcro on the inside of the door so I can velcro the unit to the inside of the door and not worry about it bouncing off. Plus...it also works inside the house where I can plug it through a stereo mini to RCA jack cable to the stereo and play anything bluetooth through the stereo too.
  9. Here's another thought I'm questioning: Has anyone added a separate power amp and simply taken the speaker outputs from our Yamaha amp and fed a secondary power amp to send more horsepower to the speakers? I know there are amps out that do this...and curious if anyone has done this mod to their 2nd gen scoots?
  10. I've had the original grip Puppies on all 3 scoots. Very happy with them. Worth every penny of the $25 clams I paid. So far, the 950T Gp's are 3 years old and look new. They made the grips larger and more comfortable. david
  11. I think the best thing we can all do is check our own posts, then if we have any photo issues...send the photos and info to Don and then he can fix them on his schedule. And yes...thank you Sir Don for all you have done for us! I'm going to look up my posts and see if I have any issues...
  12. Portsmouth where?
  13. Here ya go.... note...there are two different pictures/diagrams...depends upon what year your bike is... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?92274-How-do-you-quot-Jumper-the-CMU-quot-for-LED-s-bulbs-to-prevent-the-warning-light-coming-on&highlight=jumpers BTW, I used the search term "jumper cmu". Sometimes I'm lucky in searching...other times I can't get the term right to find anything!
  14. Congrats! I'm loving every minute of my retirement...and now the lady retires on the 5th, just two more days! Whoo hoo! Take it easy at first, enjoy getting bored...then slowly start with the honey-doos and get things done you've been putting off. Trust me on this...take your time getting used to all the free time. Soon you to will be wondering when you ever had time to work! david
  15. Larry, spoke to my buddy...he was a crew chief on the T38's as well. I told him your battery story...He laughed and said "Been there, done that"! So guess it's a normal event with the T38!! He got a good chuckle about the memory... Thanks, david
  16. Mark, there is a pin out for the tape unit....don't know if that exists for the rest of the system. But go to the 1st gen venture tech talk section...read only...and search there. Should be the schematics and wiring diagrams for the scoot. BTW, do highly recommend you pay the $12/year and join up. And fill in your profile so we know more about you and your bike. Best bux you've ever spent will be right here. Lots of good folks...ready to help... david
  17. Yea, I know. But I do enjoy the old technology. I'm retired from working with state-of-the-art video/tv and audio stuff....and like the old stuff more. I still have a tube amp (Dynaco) around and two reel to reels that work well. Even the Dynaco pre-amps and power amps I built back in the mid 60's still work. Besides, mixing my own mixes for various riding moods keeps me busy and allows me to change tapes as my mood changes. Now I'm thinking about how to add a 32 gig thumb drive to the RSV aux input.
  18. Larry, I've got to tell your story to my buddy who worked on T-38's back when Moses was a Senior Master Sargent! He's retired now and has some stories of his own. He was in Big Springs, Tx.
  19. Funny...I just went to walmart dot com and ordered a new 7 pack of 90 minute cassette tapes! $9.80 with free shipping. I'm going to be laughing about this for a week. Now my scoots will have new tapes to play! Guess if Yamaha can supply the cassette decks...walmart can sell tapes for us. Hmmm...now what kind of mixes should I create?? grins, david
  20. Lots of people have played around with that. Search the older posts. One problem that is easy to solve is the tape deck is tied into the amp system and if unplugged, the system must be jumpered so the amp thinks the deck is still around. Remember though that the intercom, CB, radio tuner and tape deck all use the same amplifier. So it is probably easier to simply remove them all and go bluetooth on helmet and add a separate tuner/amp tied into stock speakers. With bluetooth you have everything (except the cassette deck) and add the ability to talk to other riders with bluetooth.
  21. Pulls a wheelie at 190mph. Sigh...cool...but not for me.
