Whoa! Happy Birthday, Boss!

My take on the problem: I was on jury duty. It was a fatal DUI case. I asked if we were going to be able to get his prior driving record. Answer was "NO". I then told the judge "that if we cannot take into consideration previous DUI convictions (if any), I would not serve on the jury. Alcoholism is a disease and needs to be treated as such....but in the meantime, no driving allowed. I've seen to many broken bodies in my lifetime due to DUI driving, and frankly blame the legal system for making it worse". Judge thought about what I said and then let me go. One DUI is all it should take to lose the license. 2 DUI's should make that permanent. Period. Sorry...but I've lost friends and watched the guy walk away with no jail time and still driving. I don't take kindly to that.

Your records should be safe. I went in in 1969 as well and my records are good. Only a limited years were effected by the fire. http://www.archives.gov/st-louis/military-personnel/fire-1973.html I applied and got copies of all my records years back. But still have copies of my DD214 floating around! Thankfully, most places accept copies!!

Replacing stock cassette stereo and soeakers
videoarizona replied to Lug Nut's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
With 15 watts RMS power handling, looks like a perfect match for our amps, too. Good choice! -
I like the full web browser....that is fun. Be a while before you get to use the UHD...but you will have it ...when the time comes. Good choice, Jeff...

Hello guys and Gals... Just spent an hour speaking with @cowpuc. He is doing well. For those who have been buried under snow or out riding and haven't heard...his right hand was operated on the other day. He's doing fine, but will not be able to post to much in the coming month as, in his words, "I'm down to one finger in my left hand, and I'm right handed!" He was laughing and in great spirits....and Tippy is taking "most excellent" care of him! So "Prayers Up" for Scott... ...and beware....know that he is lurking here....so be careful what you say! Grins! david PS. Thanks, Scott for taking the time to discuss carbs with me!

Can't see how those would work?

Interesting problem: You could try to augment the shielding by making like a Faraday cage around the radio...nothing more than a metal type shield that covers the non-seen outside of the radio chassis and ground that cage to radio chassis and truck ground. You can try and add a metal shield plate behind the phone between the phone and mount...and find a way to ground that...or maybe not...just the shield plate might work. The idea here is to capture the spurious signals before the front end of the radio does. Other than that....I've put all sorts of radios into vehicles and only ran into this type problem once: In a 1972 Open GT. Had to build a cage around the instrument panel to isolate all the ignition crap and such that was giving us fits and ground it. We used a fine mesh chicken wire looking stuff made out of copper. Worked.

Getting at the coil power connector
videoarizona replied to camos's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Clive, I was able to get to the coils to replace the spark plug wires. I did it without pulling all that plastic off...just the two side covers, the battery and battery box. It was a very hard job in that if my hands had been thinner I wouldn't have scraped off skin. As it was, I got the job done with all four plug wires. Took some doing but you can do it. I got to the one set of coils from underneath. Suggest you take some time and get a good flashlight....and look into the frame area until you see if you have a pathway to the coils. That's what I did and it worked for me. Taking the coils out? Nope...think that would require some surgery! As far as the connector is concerned. Try and check out the coil power from the computer to the coil. If it checks ok, then the connector is good as well. If it doesn't, then yea....going to be difficult to get to the connector AND be able to get it apart. -

Don, You and I must be of the same computer generation. I started before Windows then went to 3, 3.1 and so on...right up to today. I'm Win XP on office machine - handles my data, music, videos and stills through three hard drives...and Win 7Pro for my professional editing machine. Since I'm retired, I'm hardly on the Pro machine...but thinking seriously of migrating what I can over to that machine and having on one desktop in the house. Problem for me...is the XP machine runs so well even though it's 9 years old. I kept upgrading MB, ram and processor to where I'm running top of the line Athlon, etc.. I like to be able to rip my DVD's easily, run Outlook Express for email (simple and fast), run an old version of Photoshop that has been with me for years as well..... Not sure I want to upgrade to 10 though as I'm running the Pro version of 7...and it's been solid as a rock. Guess someday soon I've got to make the change and drop the older system. Sigh.

I have no clue what percentages it ended up being. Sorry...!

Help in finding a company to ship a bike
videoarizona replied to Mike from Ohio's topic in Watering Hole
:sign yeah that: I've used them and experience was great. Driver was cool and the trucks are huge and well done...just for transporting our scoots. -
Bob, You could use neutral density filter stuff...but the cheapest and easiest by far is simple window tint film. I went to an installer and asked for a handfull of scraps of different tint densities. And got some. A touch of super glue in two or three points along edge and no one is the wiser. BTW, I used a razor blade to cut through the super glue and take off the tint. No longer using it....using nothing...guess I got used to the bright light!

Past taxes? Seems a little more than interesting since I've been retired since 2012 and have worked occassionally, and have investment income as well as social security and now don't pay taxes at all unless I sold investments and have capital gains. But I don't worry about that either since I have a huge carryover loss that the IRS only allows me to deduct a few pennies a year that will take beyond my life time to fully deduct! So...you sure about the taxes? Make too much in investments? Inquiring minds want to know....if you can/will.

2016 Hot Dogs, Tater Chips, Cokes, Party Beads and more...

Awfully far to go for a hot dog! Grins! But since I love them...who knows! -
Some more pics of current Arizona weather. We have entered our riding season. We are actually way over our normals for this year. Broke 4 records in Tucson this past week...over 80 in February! Our normals are high 60's-low 70's and 50's at night. Perfect riding weather. Last night I went for a run to check out my lights with the RSV. Night before I rode the VR to check out lights. 70's last night when I took these two pics: Tomorrow...I'll take off to Rio Rico for one of those nice-sized omelets they have. Stuff them or not...one price $7.50 with potatoes! Yummm david

Du-Ron has it nailed, above. I add: 1: whether you want a standard 4K or a "Smart" 4K. Smart simply means it has built in WIFI...so if you have WIFI in house, you can get youtube, Netflix, Vudu and a gazillion other channels if that appeals to you. As well as be able to access your own home WIFI network and one of your computers and watch movies and family pics on TV (some really do that!). I like being able to watch my bike GoPro videos through my wireless home network. 2: Some TV's also have the ability to work with unified remotes much easier than the old days. Read reviews on those you like to check it out. 3: some TV's, like the Sony Bravia series...allow you to work with the Sony tuner, Blue-Ray players, etc., and add features to the showing of movies directly through the TV. Like a real "system" should do. So it depends how you plan on upgrading your entire hifi system. Good luck...lots of choices! P.S. I'm keeping my 1967 Dynaco stereo stuff running. But that is another story...

Gas Mileage Question
videoarizona replied to Chaharly's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
CJ, Puc said it all in one sentence: "Do your diaphrams and sync her down first - your peeing in the wind trying to tune with bad diaphrams" Then go from there. And yes, normal mpg's should be around 40 for average driving. Above 70mph and/or 2 up/trailers/heavy winds....mpg's go down. I average 38 to 44 with 75 mph indicated depending upon winds.
