  1. What are you asking for it? A weekend trip may be in my future...
  2. I did the same thing a few weeks ago and thanks to Eck () I got it back together. Do just as he says, remove the small rubber plug and "hook" the yoke to align it with the shaft. It is better to get help if you can. I had a friend do the hooking while I slid the shaft in. Everything went together in-a-snap.
  3. "Shouldn't really matter it's under warranty make them fix it." I agree, somewhat. If it's like mine they would have to replace the whole cowling. I don't thing it can be repaired. I did not examine mine throughly but I believe it's all made together in two halves meeting in the middle. The little tabs where they join are molded with the main piece. I just zipped-tied mine together. Then again mine is out of warranty and I did not have much choice.

  8. I agree with Buddy. Sometimes we can go overboard with our "jabbbing". I don't care what you ride as long as you are happy. Most of my friends ride Harleys and I have no desire to have one. I jab them all every chance I get but I know when to ease-up. While we are talking about GWs, don't they have reverse on them or did I dream that? The reason I ask is because Sunday I watched a guy get on his and try to push it back with his legs. He was having a hard time. If it has a reverse why not use it.
  9. Has anyone orderd a Carbtune Pro lately and had it on backorder? I ordered one last week from California Sport Touring and it is on 2-3 week delivery (backorder). I'm just wondering if this is a realistic time frame...
  10. That's what I was thinking but I was not sure. Why would you want to do that? What are the pros and cons?
  11. I guess I missed the thread about the dark side mod. What is it:icon_smile_question
  12. I removed the final drive differental to grease the splines while I have the rear tire off and when I removed the 4 bolts and the housing the drive shaft came out from the upper (transmisson) end. Looking up in the shaft tube there is a coupling that the splines slide into. My question is how do I get the shaft back into the coupling? Is there a way to get to the coupling from that end? I am going to try to align the two with a small stiff welding rod but if this does not work is there another way? Is there anything else I need to be aware of?
  13. I went by after work and got his number. He has not returned my call. I was talking to some guys at work and we decided if we can not find someone to change our tires we will all go in and buy a changer. Harbor Frieght has one that requires a motorcycle adapter. Changer and adapter is about $100. I was real disappointed with 29Dreams. I have been a paying member for years and they would not even consider doing it. They did my V-Star a few years ago...
  14. Hey Mark, I tried to call the number in the book (245-2836) and it has been disconnected. Is there an other #? Do you know his name?
  15. I ordered a new rear tire from Dennis Kirk and it will be here today. My problem is I can not find anyone to mount it. Since I did not purchase it from them they will not mount it. They claim "insurance" reason. I can understand their un-willingness to an extent. All it would take is a "release of liability" signed by me that I would gladly do. They want to charge you $30+ more for the tire on top of the $40+ for mounting. I guess my only option is to buy my own tire changing machine. It would pay for itself in no time...
  16. I've done it on my RSV:cool10:. I'm not sure it is the same for RSTD. I have Baron 1 1/2" risers as do some others. With these you do not have to change your cables. :confused24:I'm not sure they work on the RSTD thou....
  17. "I would be willing to bet bikenut is right on the money here." Hey Eck, you or Bikenut have any documentation on this proceedure? I have my rear wheel off now waiting for a new tire. Now would be the time to do this...
  18. "BUT you CAN may it without new cables. Keep trying". I can ride it now. As matter of fact I road it home from my brothers after we put the risers on, about 40 miles. The only time I see making a hard right turn will be in a parking lot a slow speed. My worry is that if the cable is in a bind when turned, will it at some point break while miles away from home in the middle of nowhere. I will get it corrected before I put myself in that position.
  19. "Are your handelbars stock? Stock handelbars with barons risers should not require longer cables." Yes Jack they are stock. I was going to dig into it a little bit further today but I wanted to get some feedback before I did. It looks as though the cables can be re-routed. Can it be done without disconnecting them from one end? If not I'm thinking it would be easier to disconnect from the throttle end.
  20. I need some help. I installed Baron risers and when I turn the handle bars all the way to the right it puts the throttle cable in a bind and it sticks. I have to manually roll it back. I assume I have to get some slack but from where and how? I have tried to pull some slack but I'm concerned about pulling too hard and screwing something up. I have not remove the fairing yet to see if I can re-arrange the cable some way but that was going to be my next move. Any suggestions?
  21. Don't know if it was worth the 10 bucks or not. If it makes you happy then it's worth 10 bucks.
  22. Check your local Harley-Davidson dealer. They have the Progressive pump with the "Harley" logo on it. I believe they have two different ones, 0-30 and 0-60. Get the 0-60 one. Believe it or not, it's cheaper at the Harley shop than it is from Progressive. I think I paid $40.00 for mine...
  23. Thanks Kbran. That's exactlly what I need. I watched ECK do it and it looked like I might be able to do it with a little help. Thanks again.
  24. Does anyone use Amsoil?
