Hey Don, not to put anybody on the spot, but how many of the 7,520 members are "supporting " members. I know it none of my business but I'm just curious.

One other thing... I tried higher octane (93) gas once and it caused it to spit and sputter for a few seconds when changing gears. I went back to 87 and it quit. Some experience this and some don't. My bike does not like the higher octane gas. You may not be running 93 but I just thought I would throw that in.

I agree with Carbon One. If you shift early and the revs are not what they should be it will shimmy somewhat. At times I still catch myself shifting into 5th too early...

To get by until you can purchase an adapter you can stratigically place some wood spacers on your lift under the frame to work. There was a sketch at one time showing sizes and cutouts to clear things in the way. There also is a drawing to make your own adapter. I'm not trying to cut into Carbon 1's deal but there are ways to get by in a pinch. Good luck...

A wise man once told me to never jump a bike from car, if the engine is running. Always jump a bike from a vehicle that has the engine off, or just jump from a battery removed from vehicle. Is this good advise?

Took mine off and never put it back on. No problems. With it off you can open the lid a little more making it easier to put things in.

"I gotta ask what is a progressive air pump and where can I get one?" I got mine at my local Harley-Davidson store. It has Harley logo on it but it is made by Progressive. Believe it or not it was cheaper than you could get it direct from Progressive. Who cares about a logo... They make a 0-30 lbs. and a 0-60 lbs. Be sure to get the 0-60 so you can use it on your rear shock.

All the roads in the area are good, some better than others. One of my favorites, besides the Dragon and Cherohala, is 28. If you don't have a place to stay I suggest Two Wheel Inn in Robbinsville. Clean, reasonable and great people. Check them out at www.twowheelinn.com

I have a few questions about the "ignition switch failure". First, let me say mine has not failed. I'm just preparing in case it does. I would like to do the bypass of the switch but before I do I would like to ask a couple of questions. Can you have the bypass wired with a toggle switch ready to use and still start the bike with the key and start button as if the bypass was not there? I have read where some have the bypass in their saddle bag ready in case the failure occurs while on the road. Why not have it in place ready to use if needed? How does the bypass work? I understand all power, except the radio, is lost when you have a failure. Once toggled and power is restored, is the key and start button still used to start the bike? I would assume so but if I knew for sure I would not ask. If not please expalin the starting procedure. When you read this and laugh just know I am ignorant when it comes to this kind of stuff, so go easy on me with your replies. Thanks...

Hey SIMILOST, just give it some time. When I first got mine I thought, "boy have I screwed up." I moved from a v-star to this monster. It was big, heavy and hard to negotiate at slow speeds. I was scared to get on it the first few days I had it. But after a few miles in the seat all the fear and doubts went away. Now I would not trade it for anything. The only thing that bothers me now is gravel driveways and parking lots. It don't like gravel. I'm sure when you get a few more miles under your belt you will feel much better. Don't give up on it yet...

HOG - Harley Owner's Group. I thought if you bought a Harley from a dealer you were automatically a HOG member. Maybe not. Three of my riding buddy's ride Harleys. One of them has always ridden a HD while the other two "moved up" to theirs. The one that has always had an HD is a memeber of a local HD Riding Club. I don't know if they are HOG members. I have been on an "unofficial" club ride with some of there members. They treated me like I would have treated them, a fellow biker. If it is an "official" club ride I am not allowed to join them and that is fine with me. They have club rules and requirements and this also is fine with me. If I paid $1500 a year to be in a club I would want some restrictions also. I don't know what they say about me when I'm not around but they have always been kind and respectful when I am around. That's all I can ask for and expect. Maybe paying HOG memebers are different. They may be too hard core for me.

Hey Mark, let know how your's runs on higher octane. I tried running 93 in mine and it ran like crap. Spit and sputtered and was hard to crank. I went back to 87 and all was well. Strange but true...

Wiring Help !! - LED LIGHT BAR- Brake and Signals
jrcain32 replied to birin's topic in Bike Accessories
I just bought a 5-4 converter at WalMart for $12 to hook a 4 wire trailer harness. I added a 15" LED running/brake light with no problems. -
"Im looking for anyone who have some Harley Davidson faded glory boots." I have a pair of H-D boots but I'm not sure if they are faded glory. They are 6" ankle boots with a side zipper. Once you get them broke in they are very comfortable. I got them from a co-worker who found them on sale and picked up an extra pair, $50. They may be made in China, but what's not. I'm happy with them...

One of the tires you ordered must be at a warehouse in some other part of the country. I know they have one in Florida and one in Tennessee and I'm sure in other places. I just ordered and received a new set of Michelin Commanders and they came to me from Tennessee. That's understandable with me being in Alabama. They have alway given me great service. I was worried about manufacturing date on my tires. The rear had a date of 0309 (3rd week of 2009). The front was not a good but I'm not complaining, 4307. This is my 4th set of tires from them and will I will continue to use them.

I did the same with my small air compressor and it blowed a fuse before I could blink an eye.

I just put a new set of Michelin Commanders on my RSV. The max pressure rating on side of tire says 41# both front and rear. I am used to running 42# in rear and 36# in front on my old set of 404's. The ones of you that have had Commanders what pressure have you run? I want to get the most out of these tires as possible and I know air pressure is very important.

Needing an excellant tire
jrcain32 replied to dleggett1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I will not buy another set of Dunlop 404's. The first set, I got maybe 7500 miles. The second and last set I got 5000 in 7 months and it (rear) is wore out. I just put a set of Michelin Commanders on and I am expecting great things. It was between those and the Venoms but I chose the Commanders.- 19 replies

I would like to hear from some of you that have ran Commanders on the RSV. I would like to know how many miles I can expect out of a set, how they handle, etc. I have only run D404's and I am not happy with them. Only 6000 miles on my current rear and it needs replacing. I am interested only in the Michelin. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

That's why I only read the sports pages. I would rather read about peoples accomplishments than their failures. All the news is so negitive right now, it's depressing.
