I think I will just use the SD card in my Garmin Zumo. Less things on the bike that serve the same purpose.

I just found out from Yamaha Motor Canada that the iPod they offer as a promotion for customers buying a new Venture is not an iPod Touch. It is an iPod Shuffle. If American Yamaha Motor Corporation is giving away a Touch and an i-Simple and all the connections and instruction then guess what I think of Yamaha Motor Canada. I guess I should have known because back in 1972-73 when I won them 3 National Motocross titles it was for the grand sum of $2,000 a year.

Reality is we are all children. The only difference is that we are old children and have learned to build fences, hide our emotions, and mask our intentions.

If you have not been there, and this is for Americans also--make sure you go to the Battle of Restigouche National Historic Site at the mouth of the Restigouche River when you enter the province of Quebec from Campbellton, NB. This is where the nationality of North America was decided and New France was lost forever. After this decisive battle between the French and the English, the French were hunted down and repatriated back to France. This didn't work out so well and many French hid out in the northern forests. Those who remained in this area became known as Acadians and their culture survives to this day. If you like history then this is a "Must See". If you subscribed to Motorcycle Mojo magazine you would already know this. ha ha

Yes, we had ployes and fiddlehead soup at the New Brunswick Botanical Gardens on our first day, Canada Day. My very first trip on a motorcycle was in 1965 on my 305 Honda Super Hawk. I was 19 years old and I rode all the way from Newcastle, ON to Bath, NB to visit my girl friend. What an experience that was--and I'm just talking about the girl friend.

Hi Mike: Will do.

OK, thanks everyone. I'll just wait till I get my package in the mail.

Some great pictures and memories. I write travel stories for Motorcycle Mojo, the best bike magazine in Canada! We did the Gaspe last year and Cape Breton the year before, and have done the Charlevois and the south shore. This year we did the St. John River Valley and we were in Edmundston on Canada Day. After that we did PEI and then went over to Isle de la Madeleine. Each will be a story for the magazine sometime over the next few months. On the way to New Brunswick we went to Ottawa then north from Montebelo, PQ to Mont Tremblant, then east all the way to Quebec City. Did a story a couple of years ago about Mont Tremblant. I can send you a few stories that have already been published if you want. Just send me your email address. keysyrider@gmail.com Did you go to Banc-du-Peche-de-Paspebiac? Great historic place with an interesting history.

Just read my blogs on the web site and you can't go wrong. I'll be adding a blog a month starting in April and running to November in 2014.

Anybody coming to southeastern and central Ontario and needs info on roads etc. let me know. I haven't ridden them all--but most of them I have.

That is misinformation. I have been to Old QC a number of times and have been in the walled part of the city with my bike and trailer and even stayed there overnight with my bike parked on the street. Bikes are welcomed in QC.

Ontario Tourism has invested in bringing bikers to Ontario. Their web site is fantastic and is a work in progress. Their Blog is being added to on regular basis with new routes and day rides. Here is the site: http://www.gorideontario.com/

That windshield bag looks like a handy thing to have. Hopefully my iPod will arrive this coming week and I can get started on connecting it. I have until April to do this because of this %$@#& Canadian winter. Three more years and I'll be using that Florida condo I invested in. Can't wait!!

I imagine that when I get the iPod I will also receive a cable long enough to connect to my iPod that will be mounted on my handlebars?
-
There is a connector there that has eleven flat pins in it. Would that be the iSimple connection device?
-
Sounds like I should buy a three outlet headphone adaptor when I buy it for my GPS and then, both the GPS and the iPod will connect to it. Right?

I just bought a 2013 Yamaha Venture S and expect to receive my iPod Touch any day now. It seems that I will be left to my own initiative and capabilities to try and connect this to my stereo system on the bike. And that is why I joined this Forum. With my new iPod Touch in my hand, what do I need, and how do I connect this to the stereo system on my Venture? I have noted that it can just be plugged into the single pin receiver beside my cassette player. But how do I them close the door to the cassette player? I will soon be going inside the fairing to setup my GPS connections. Is there a connection in there for the Ipod? Seems odd that Yamaha would give new owners a free iPod and then no information or cables to connect it to the bike. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on iSimple or other stuff so can anyone help me?

And that is why I bought a Venture rather than a BMW K 1600 GTL. I wanted to get back to what motorcycling is all about. I could have bought a harley--but I didn't want to watch motorcycles going by while I was broke down on the shoulder. With the 5 year warranty and unlimited mileage Yamaha has much faith in their product. We all get caught up in the Wow Factor with all these electronic gadgets---until they go south on u--and so does our bank account.

I have had both J&M and EdSets, and both required warranty for the connection between the helmet and the pigtail. They call it a dongle, and it has a very small wires that break when bent enough times. Both J&M and EdSets replaced with no questions asked, however, I favour the Edsets. Smaller company and Ed stands behind his product-even when past the warranty. I have 40 to 45% hearing loss in both ears and the EdSets work great for me. Just crank em up!!

Please don't flame me but if Obama had just followed the template that other governments used when instituting their health care things would have been much easier. Why did he have to re-invent the wheel?

No engine torque whatsoever.

Wow! Everyone wonders what Honda will do in reply to the BMW K 1600. Rest assured there will be a reply. I just hope they stick with a motorcycle rather than the Roger Ramjet myriad of electronics that BMW has put forward. All is well-----until the electronics go phhhhhssssstt. Yes that big sucking sound is the bank account emptying.

Things will pickup now that the colder weather is upon us and the bikes are stored for the winter.
