  1. How silly of me.... I think I knew that. If I had a name for my bike I'm not sure I could post it here; after all there are rules of decency.... Sometimes I have a nice name for it... Other times I don't.
  2. So KEVIN! What DON"T you have in the way of venture literature and info? GEEZE!!! what a resource!
  3. I have1 seat that I am willing to part with...open to offers, shipping expenses extra.
  4. Not Found The requested URL /yamaha.htm was not found on this server. Dropping the /yamaha.htm will get you there!
  5. I would roll them up and put them under the radiator overflow bottle, or with the compressor, under the seat maybe....I have 2 or 3 rubbermade style boxes I use for parts, I might keep them there.
  6. I saw one on ebay the other day $30.00! can you believe that? That's way beyond reason ...
  7. When it doubt you can check Boats.net. There you can look up YOUR part and find out what models it was used on. They have a data base that will tell you what models used what P/Ns... so far as I know it's all inclusive of the Mk. 1s and Mks 2...if not I'm sure some one will clear that up.
  8. Well the new cable came today; in the factory wrapping and I got the entire assembly! I thought I was just getting the cable proper, I got the sheath too! Hooray! For $15.and change (that included shipping) I'm not complaining!
  9. Pete is a big fan of brevity.....
  10. I called everybody I could think of in town, I asked my other riding buddies, no one knew anything about a battery with a sensor in it, it may have been Interstate or Auto Zone that had one and they wanted another $50.00 for the battery with the sensor, well after joining this site and learning what was in that "sensor" I went to radio shack and got the resistor ($2.?? for 4 of them) and made my own. Interestingly enough all the batteries I saw for our bike had the hole for the sensor but they wanted another $50.00 for it. Screw that. BTW Auto Zone batteries warranted for 3 months... the one in my Road Star went bad 3 months and 5 days after purchase, I got a new one from them gratis and it is still just fine...Next battery is going to be a AGM or Lithium. I want to do that generator mod too but that's down the road, I got other chicken to fry...carbs, progressive springs...lighting....
  11. Back in the day the cops would pull you over for poorly aimed headlights..or running your "brights" in the face of on coming traffic...nowadays (Ford trucks anyway) many pickups have 2 lights in the air damn below the grill. MANY drivers turn these on or they just come on (I don't really know) with the main headlights...4 headlights used to be called "BRIGHT LIGHTS"; on the vehicles that ran 4 head lights; the 2 head light vehicles seemed to not show as much width with their lights....once in a while you'd see a vehicle with poorly aimed head lights but not too often... there used to be mandatory annual safety checks too. The State patrol performed them. When i se4rved in Iceland all of us that had shipped a vehicle there had to take it to an approved shpt where they tested the vehicle for safety issues, (tires, glass, seat belts, head rests etc...) and they aimed the head lights, and told us it was a huge fine to be caught with them out of adjustment so if one burned out you have better get it aimed professionally or match it up to the other light. Please pass the word around on these new whiter than white and brighter than bright head light owners to make sure they are aimed so they aren't blinding others....
  12. Got a Interstate Part Number for that battery? When I shopped for my battery NOBODY had the probe, not even Interstate, (or they didn't want to sell a battery) or they wanted $50.00 for the probe! Yeah I would love to have a part number from their catalog!
  13. What ever the stock size is and it's conventional. I got a 84....VR.
  14. My problem with LED headlights are 2 fold, 1; many times they are too bright for the people in front of the light (ie other drivers) I have been so blinded by HID and LEDs (same thing? I donno) that I have come close to entering a street only to have a car pop out from behind some one with headlights that are way too bright. 2; Some people get behind me and their headlights are in my mirrors, I have to lean forward to I can get the light out of my eyes to see to drive. I'm all for improved lighting and seeing, but no one is landing an airplane, we shouldn't out drive our lights and should we really NEED to see 1000 feet down the road aren't we riding a bit fast? My OEM light leaves much to be desired but I don't want to blind others, so a reasonable upgrade would be welcome. I don't want a blue light but I don't want one that's so white it hurts the eyes. Any ideas?
  15. I have a 85 Y/M Cover, Top (the false tank cover) on my 84 and I need a NON-locking (no key) "SIDE COVER LOCK ASSEMBLY" It's the no key thingy to that opens the fuel access door to get to the gas cap thingy. Anyone got one please? The P/N is 54K-21780-01-00.
  16. Well of course now that the new cable is on the way I found my old one in the road today... I lost just the cable, not the sleeve housing...Yesterday; if I had walked another 30 yards I would have found it (IF it was in the road, we have school kids walking the road twice a day so who knows where it was) and not ordered the new one but it's not much and having a spare isn't a bad idea. Thanks all for the comments and advice!
  17. $ button unit? Got a picture? I got a set of two switches, black with gray buttons, 2 momentary (your "seek") and 2 on/off, one type in each housing. I also have a switch from an '85, a panel looking thing....I don't ride the '85 (parts bike) but I have the panel type multi-switch off it.
  18. Never leave your speedometer cable loose on the bottom end. The cable inside the sleeve will depart the bike and you won't find it. However I found a NEW one on Amazon for $15.00 and free shipping, way cheaper than the parts outlet. Just sayin'....Apparently Yamaha does not install that little keeper thing you see (that I have seen anyway) on the speedometer end of most cables making it install from one end only.... ...
  19. I'll buy a set you bet!
  20. I'll never tell. Besides why can't it be listed in the chart I cited? I know, I know it's not American/English thinking.....
  21. Well I never heard of them before... but it's good to know we have more to choose from....what kind of reputation do these MFRs have?
  22. All the time with the details....details , details Smetails....Well he was talking about a different bike,,,, but the info is still correct as applies a whole different bike; neener, neener, neener! So what's the minimum on a 83 to 85?
