Had the same issues with my 09...ditch the Venoms asap! Cured my handling/wobbling issues immediately. I went through a process of rebalancing the front tire, adjusting F/R/pressures (tires and suspension), tightening the steering head, replacing the tires (went with Michelin Commander II). Last step was the tires and that was it!

I replaced the [worthless] Avon Venoms with the Michelin Commander II's and love it! Made the whole bike handle and ride better for me. I like the narrower front...much better handling and rider feedback. Tires are like oil and insurance...everybody has their opinion and preferences. Go with whatever you like best.

When I got my 09 RSV about 6 months ago, it had front end shake and really spooky shakes when cornering slowly or letting go of the bars. I decided to go about fixing it through process of elimination. Step 1: Have front tire balanced. Helped a little. Step 2: Tighten up the forks/steering head. Helped more than a little, but the problem was still there. Step 3: Junk the worthless Avon Venom tires (still plenty of tread left) and replace both with Michelin Commander II's. Amazing results! No more head shake, no more problem! I'm also a sportbike owner, so I like the smaller tire on front. Better control, better feedback, better confidence all around. And I have always used Michelin tires on my other bikes so it's my brand of choice anyway.

I have the slip-ons from LA Chopper. A bit too loud for me, but they're okay at cruising speed. I'll keep them on for now.

When I was shopping for one the Yamaha dude told me that 2013 was the last year of production. Dropped for 2014. He strongly suspected a new model in 2015, but not certain on that. I picked up a beautiful 2009 about a month ago. Had just over 14k miles and looks like it just rolled off the floor. I'm very happy now!
