In my garage I have a 03 vstar 1100 classic along with my gen 1 venure and Vstrom. I've had the vstar since new and have 55,000 miles on it. It has been a great bike and trouble free. On the starting issue...put in neutral, pull clutch in, hit starter. no gas...if this is done you should have no problems. here is a good site if you haven't found it already... http://www.sloneservices.com/SilverBack/VStar1100-FAQ.htm it is a good central resource for information. I'm sure you wife will really enjoy the bike!

is the pastex an adhesive or is it formable for a filler? mine is in decent shape except for the left long edge, what I will call the return flange, that comes back to meet the dash face. That return flange is missing a few pieces and I'd like to be able to fill it in with a litle something something to blend it. Bob

MiCarl, you are correct that is the right piece for waht I'm looking for. I was picking out the wrong one. ugh.. $$$$!! but it was under the cowling 1 fiche on babbits. thanks for the info. WOW this plastic is expensive on these older bikes. may have to live with the glued cracks for a bit longer. bob

Front wheel wobble
Indyventure replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I had the decel wobble also. Air pressure affected it, however it went away with a new front tire for me- Elite 2. Bob -

After some searching here I'm still a bit confused. I was investigating a small amount of fluid found under the bike today. It appears that I maybe am getting a bit from this valve located right under the Rad. It's not too bad of a leak and I've added a new o-ring to the need to get list, but I'm a bit confused ont he on/off markings. The manual picture isn't clear enough for me to tell what I'm supposed to be lining up. So I read on here about how it should drop into a detent. OK...I felt that. I have the OFF lined up at what I'd call 7 o'clock as I look at the valve. I let the bike idle for a while and the temp gage seems to be reading ok. is this the correct position for normal riding? Thanks everyone. 89 VR w/ 47K on her. bob

cee bailey blue
Indyventure replied to Indyventure's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
it does look like clearview has a 2nd available for $205 and it has the vent installed already. They say it has a light scratch about 1" long in the upper right side of the shield. it is 22.5" tall which I think is about stock height. I think I'm wanting to go with a 20" height. looks like a decent deal. I like to see over the shileds and not through and the stock height is jsut on that border for me. I cut down the OEM but I don't liek the tuberlance I'm getting from it...also it seems to get even more back pressure than before. -

I'm aware of the clearview. http://clearviewshields.com/shop/product.php?id=82 Look nice but a bit $$$ compared to the Cee Bailey's but I can't speak for either. I still have OEM.
