Your timing to post this couldn't have been better :cool10: I am "patiently" waiting for the arrival of a new windshield too. For whatever reason I have heard so many issues about opening the fairing that I thought it was going to take me for ever!!! I want to add power for the iphone and additional aux connection at the same time, and now, after hearing how well it worked out for you I am full of optimism and confidence to tackle it within the next couple weekends!!!! Thank you!!!

I commute to work on the bike. Not only get much better MPG than the truck but I also can take HOV lanes and Express Lines are free so save up to $10 per day on tolls. As IronMike said, it is all about the gear. Once it goes below 35 I leave the leather at home. I have a set of Olympia over pants fully lined and with armor. For the jacket, another Olympia, (I think both are X-moto). I have a heated liner and gloves that come with me every day. Sometimes I don't need them but just in case. Oh and the other change is the helmet, as I also use full-face with a turtle neck guard. It is only 32 mls so not really a long ride, but long enough to be miserable if I don't zip every zipper properly and cover every inch of skin. This season I had to leave the bike home 6 days so far, mostly because I couldn’t' get out of the community with it. This year is the first time I have ever ridden in sub zero temps... well it was just -1 and went up to 4 by the time I made it to work, but I am calling it sub zero :rotf:. I have also learn this year than snow and the venture don't go well together... teh snow piles up on the shield and the time it happened on December I had to stop a million times to clean it up bc I couldn’t see though it. Solution.... couple days ago I purchased the adjustable windshield from baggershield. Can't wait to get it!!!!

I do forecasting and budgeting for a living. Not weather but hotel's revenues. The expectation is to have a 97% accuracy 90 days out... I clearly chose the wrong industry!!!!

As many of you, i have to add my name to the "crazy" list. I didn't look at it as brave, nor crazy though. Most of the times it started with an "oh crap, it was not supposed to start this early, I'm screw" followed by "FFFF"... The last time it happened was a few weeks ago... it was the first time with the venture and I do recall thinking "i'm stupid" every time I had to pull over to clean the windshield. I have to confessed thought that I must have not learned from it as it hasn't stopped me from riding like for instance this morning at 7 degrees.

That is a Panther... I woulnd't be able to tell you the year but based on the angle of the engine I woudl say is a 500.... the 350 was almost vertical.

I am by no means going to defend lack of knowledge and the reality of it is that many people in GA have never been exposed to such conditions so they don't have the ability to drive safely on snow. That said though, roads are different in different areas. I am not referring to the fact than they could be chip seal or asphalt (either conventional or rubberized). Traction is different based on the material and the grading. For instance, Asphalt has a grading system called PG binder. The PG grading system is based on climate. The asphalt binder properties should be related to the conditions under which it is used. PG asphalt binders are selected to meet expected climatic conditions as well as aging. So a road in GA would provide different traction than a road in NY at the same temperature. PG grading system goes on 6C increments so it is very different on every area. In addition to that GA for the last 3 or 4 years has been using rubber modified asphalt in some counties. This asphalt uses recycled tires on a form of MRP (micronized rubber powder) I have lost interest so I no longer followe up with it but I would assume that under stress conditions it probably performs different too. From personal experience, in 2007 I relocated (for a short period of time) from DC to Atlanta. That winter there was a little snow storm. I left work and can say that the same car with the same tires I was driving a year prior in DC did not behaved the same there. So something does change. Leaving all that aside, I hope all of you who live there are safe and warm and hopefully none of you spent a night on the road or had a child spending the night in the school!!!! :bighug:

I really like what you are doing there! And the idea of the plate covering the box is just brilliant. On a side note, is that the corbin seat? I really like the look of it!!

You nailed it!!

Apparently those who approved this bill didn't see one either.

you bring up an excellent point... shouldn't we recommend the addition of an "I don't fit anywhere else" category? Scratch that! let’s change all restrooms and locker rooms to all gender facilities. Call it "whichever". :cool10:

Because I'm a shorty plus my riding position is not necessarily the most proper as I curve my back, I'm afraid I won't be able to see over the shield even without the extension on!! If I recall correctly the stock shield is 15.5" from the top of the chrome trim to the top of the shield? Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken. Does anyone know on the 10.5 to 16.5 how tall the bottom part (without the extension on) is from trim to the top once installed?
