windshield question?

well order the F-4 today. Biggest deciding factor is ability to use original rain-x and clean with standard towel and windex. -

windshield question I see both the clear view and the F4 highly recommended on this site. anyone have experience with both? Prices similar claims similar. F-4 claims a bit wider than stock to help with buffeting. Also F-4 comes up to 2" taller than stock Clearview comes 1" taller and wider but with a curve at the top to increase the "bubble" of quiet? The PO kept the bike very nice and clean but claimed to be 6' 4" so he had longer bars and a shorter windsheild? Right now when i sit up straight I'm looking over the top of the windshield with ease. If we get a sudden florida sun shower I have to hunch down to get behind the glass. Also tint versus non tint any opinions? yes I'm getting vented either way

blown hose?
baylensman replied to baylensman's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Fot it done (well made the kid do it) hose split just above clamp where it goes into cylinder head, -
need to tear into this tomorrow early hope some one is on with and answer. 96 RSTD my son blew a radiator hose (he thinks) on his way to Gasparilla tonight. Looking at the diagram all the hose look as if they are the same diameter at either end, so I can probably fix with bulk hose at local parts store right? Any thoughts on what sizes? 5/8 3/4 metric?

Just looking at the picture it doesn't look like what i can see still haven't pulled it out -
At one time it was legal across the country. Shortly after the civil war ended, the plant was outlawed as it is the best source of a natural fiber called "hemp" this fiber is both softer and stronger than cotton easier to harvest and grows everywhere! As part on rebuilding the nation after the war it was necessary to export as much cotton as possible to pay for everything (other sources of income also) the channels for harvest manufacture and distribution on a world wide level were in place. In order to keep the price as high as possible the plant was made illegal to plant sow or harvest. As far as its medical benefits? Lots of evidence on both sides of that issue, so I can't say. As a gateway drug to other substances? Again lots of evidence both sides of that issue. Dope is a lacquer like substance applied to cotton cloth to make it stiff, the fumes of which can produce a "High" many folks used it when alcohol became illeagal in the US, the Term Dope Doper Dope head Dope sniffer became generic terms for folks who used any substance other than alcohol to get a buzz. Basically if they can take the money out of it for illegal importation, control the distribution to keep kids of it and tax it like anything else, I feel why not. I don't want to see Panama Red for sale at the circle K, but get a scrip from a Doc and got to CVS sure. Doesn't mean I'm gonna run down a get some, but if it help the nice old lady in the next Condo get thru the day with a little more peace Heck yeah!!

the air fork balance kit listed on this site from dennis kirk is no longer available! Is the Progressive kit still available at other suppliers and or is there a different kit that accomplishes the same thing?

Thinking about trading in the RSV for RSTD
baylensman replied to Ventureless's topic in Watering Hole
I went the other way and most of my riding is solo and local. few group rides or GF along trips but do partake of both on a regular basis. The main reason is I had an 86 venture royale and missed it, the 96 is/was a great bike and still in the family. For me however the RSV is the bike to use! I think its as easy to handle as the RSTD was -
Head removal in the frame?
baylensman replied to rjsteiner01's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Good call out Goose. I remember my 86 would run like a 125cc bike at idle up to about 1/3 to 1/2 throttle then "Wake up" I had dirt and corrision on the idle screws on two of four carbs. -
Head removal in the frame?

Most commercial spark checkers either the type that go between the plug and wire or the ones that go on the wire measure the signal being sent (i.e. voltage spike) the spike can travel thru the wire into the plug and to ground with out causing a spark in the combustion chamber. swap the bad cylinder plug with a known good one (switch two plugs) and try your test again. As far as your carb situation do you smell any unburnt exhaust (eye watering gas smell) at back of bike? If not then fuel air mix not getting in to cylinder. Why? cloged fuel orifice in carb (all of them?) or stuck intake valve? -

not the right switch for a 96 -
i'll try again as it seems no one understood what i was asking. on a 96 standard the igntion switch is located on the right side under the seat. having pulled the seat, the battery, the battery cover, and the lower plastic sheild where the passenger foot peg mounts, it is still a bear to get at, what am I missing or is this really that poorly designed? Second, where can i get a new switch? can I use my old tumbler? third is it the switch that is the problem or the tumbler? sometimes the key won't turn or release from the switch other times it seems that the key turns but is not doing anything inside (turns to easy) P.S. this is my old bike which I gifted to my son when i got my 07RSV

quickest gain in performance is a DYNA box it changes the factory times curves and move the redline up a bit. Makes all the difference. I always hated the "Stumble" in first gear right as i was ready to shift... Moved the shift point from around 36 to 41 mph and all other gears moved up accordingly. Don't get gready though if you move the red line up too far you run into other problems. By the time i was done I had the Dyna, rejetted carbs, new exhaust, new valve springs, head gaskets surface gap plugs and who know what else... the issue is every little change affects something else. So make small changes and see what happens

igntion switch replace
baylensman replied to baylensman's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
the ignition swith is on the top of the gas tank at the tripple tree on the venture on the plain old royal star it is under the seat. -
see plenty of articles and posts about column mounted switch. on the 96 Royal star (not venture not tour deluxe) the switch is on the right side cover under the seat above the body colored battery cover opposite of the seat lock. Any leads on a how to on this little baby. I've pulled every cover i can find and the battery and box, the switch seems to be tucked up behind the frame tubing. Second question is where can i get a new one?

think about the guy in the video. Two auto loading fully automatic twelves! one in each hand blowing thru 20 round mags!!!!!

try looking around for someone who deals in tamiya model kits. I don't think the RSV is in their current line up, but they did a lot of yamahas. the number of models imported for mass market is limited, but they made almost every bike in a 1/12 scale in Japan

Or sub titled the most irresponsible I've been in 20 years. Well we were out riding over the holiday Me 07 RSV Luke 96 RSTD Joe Gold wing. Big Dick on his Trumpet little Dick (don't laff) on his 600CBR Bob and Bill both on overly noisy HD's of some vintage. It was shortly before midnight and we were heading north out of the swamps towards the pretty lights and beachs of St Pete. There is this spot on 301 where the road goes from 2 lane to three and after 100 ft there is a stop light. I guess its a feeder for morning traffic or something. As we roll up the light goes yellow then red, o one else on the road so we take up all three lanes. Grinning like idiots we are all reving our bikes and popping the clutches for a foot or so. The Liitle Dick open the visor on his helmet and shouts " you old guys know I can take you all by third gear right?" well chin straps get tightened dew rags stuffed in pockets and various other little prep's. I open my damn stupid mouth and yell back "if we go we go, the bridge is about a half mile ahead, the first to the bridge." well the light turned green Me Luke and Joe are out front by a lenght and never looked back, up to about 100 we were side by side at about 105 or so Luke and joe staart to pull away abit maybe half a length or we stayed that way till about 125 or so and I hit my limit the bike didn't stumble it just wouldnt go any faster Luke and Joe hit the bridge at the same time about 6 lengths in front of me. later Joe said he topped at at 130 on his speedo Luke's only goes to 120. so who knows. we dialed it down and along comes big Dick on his triumph. then Bill and Bob followed by Little Dick. The rest of the way Home we kept exactly to the posted limit, even on the down side of the big bridge Now I don't know who has the fastest bike I just know at that time on that road which of us had the bigger (insert your own word for round hanging down things) and held the right grip against the stop!

one nice thing about those Harley guys, it only take one harley rider to right the check for $100.00 to change the bulb

Does lightbulb tech also apply to newer LED's or do we need a new thread?

I used to sell this stuff. A few points If I may. Home use versus Gym, Its a toss up whatever works for you. I know folks who spend hundreds a year on gym memberships that they don't ever use other spend hundreds on equipment they never use. bike versus eliptical versus treadmill again a preference thing but treadmill tuffest of the three on your knees and ankles. elipticals more overall full body workout than a bike. Bikes are great but finding the right fit is tuff. stay with nordic track or Sole stay away from proform or horizon brands. Check big box stores now and early january for closeouts and deals, the fitness season ramps up in mid to late january! I've seen $700 machines sell off the floor at sears for as low as $250. GET THE EXTENEDED WARRANTY. the electronics in these things are expensive to fix boards and cables are well voer $300.00 so an extra $100 on the exteneded service plan is well worth it.
