new muffler need brackets
baylensman replied to baylensman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Misspoke not P clamps the large chrome clamps at the joint end are what I have. I need the bracket under the saddle bag -
so i got my Mufflers and P clamps. Thanks Barry. Now i need the brackets. I don't have a garage anymore so no vise. I've seen the drawings here, but I would rather just buy a set if I can, elsewise I can try and get to friends shop sometime in the next couple of weeks and try and make some. I'd rather just do the job right here at the Condo if I can.

The old DYNA was the single best mod to my 96 Royal star. Pipes, carbs, valve springs everything! This really perked the bike up, sorry to hear they are now USB instead of the dip switches.

I'm now writing the schedules for my department so I will get off that day, if not the whole weekend

Well I hit 125 miles and got gas. TOOK 4 GALLSON SO NO REAL IMPROVEMENT. Unless it wasn't full last week, will keep an eye on it.

i've seen them 07/08 models with that mileage for as high as $11K at dealers. Bought mine with 7K miles for $10K flat with new tires and some extras thrown in. Having owned both (1st gen and 2nd gen) they are different bikes. In my humble opinion the 2nd gen's are more a riders bike, 1st gen's are more of a drivers bike. Don't get me wrong both are fun and deceptively quick, I just feel that i'm more in tune with the pavement on the 07 than i was on the 86. The 1st gen just seems to insulate me more from the environment.

So I;m a week into a new tank of fuel. Been riding different keeping the rev's up! So I show 100.4 miles on the odometer. The onboard gauge shows over 1/2 a tank left!!!! I know its not 100% accurate, but wow! Normally i'd be thinking of getting gas tommorow

just open the trunk and saddle bags and reattach everything laying in there!

Did a little ride with my sweetie yesterday, we went to the Clearwater Marine aquarium to see Winter. We took the scenic route home (about 20 miles) it wasn't overly warm yesterday, but there seemed to be a bit of heat on the right (brake foot) side, my ankle still felt warm even when i had my foot out on the hiway peg. Is this normal or something to look at. The other thing is I don't think I've ever heard the fan come on, my last royal star didn't come on often but it did occasionally, and I could here it when it did. Is there an easy place to put a temp sensor? Has anyone ever put a direct read gauge in one of these beasties?

It was a toss up for me last august when I got the RSV. I was down to two choices both at tampabay powersports. between and ABS goldwing and RSV both with around 26K miles. Then I found the one I bought on Cycle trader the day I was going to the bank to get the funds for the one at the dealer. the one I bought had less miles (10k) and was $2K cheaper. So more goodies on the bike. well I hope to met up soon walt

So I'm putting in a PIAA H4 motorsport bulb next week. (days off changed) While I have the fairing apart (split) I have a small audio issue. sometime when I accelerate my radio makes a POP CRACKLE sound like some one is plugging a Mic into an amp and the speakers seem a little louder. It only does it once and ususally right when I start out ( speed bump in condo parking lot). So do i pull all the connectors and spray them with electric contact cleaner and put dieeletric on them all? or is there another known issue

I hate my cable and internet provider because
baylensman replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
I have bright house which used to be TW. I wish I could have a car as reliable as my cable internet has been. Having heard the horror stories about what happens with the also ran cable/internet providers, I'll stick. People jump to save $$ and find that they end up spying as much or more when they write the check and don't get the service they were promised -
We have several threads about the bikes we have or had. We had a little cross chat on another thread about some great old cars we have owned. So let's put them here! All you BOW TIE guys can post also even if you didn't own a great old car (FORD). Having said that my all time favorite cars were my 72 Oldsmobile Cutlass S 350CID 4bbl dual exhaust and my 73 Lincoln MK4 460CID. I think the Olds had the edge in handling and 0-60mph but the MK4 HD it in comfort and time to 100MPH. Both of, them were, Green with Green Leather/vinyl interiors. The car that was the most fun to drive and got the most ooooohhhs and aaaahs was my 65 mustang coupe. It was painted 64 Lincoln gray from the factory 289 2bbl with C4 and a posit. I upgraded it to dual exhaust and dropped a Stealth 5.0 HO under the hood painted gold and black like the 2bbl original motor with that ridiculous looking 20" air cleaner they had back then. Added a rebuilt C4 with a "K" code vacuum unit. I had a car that would spin the tires in three gears!!!! But it was noisy hot and uncomfortable!

Well i'v also noticed not shifting up so quick means not having to down shift so much either. I can come out of a corner cleaner( does that men safer?) not having to quickly down shift. When traffics gets a little dicey being up in the rev's gives a quicker response also. So all around its a better way to be. Just have to think on it a while till it becomes second nature, I found my self shifting to soon on the way home today, had to actually force myself not to upshift in to 5th. Will pay close attention to the MPG next time I fill up. As to the car stuff we need a new thread

F4 windshield performance
baylensman replied to orlean1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yes the windshield acts as claimed in low to medium rain. It beads up and blow off at slow at 35mph -
Call your company! Talk directly to them it's amazing what they can do when you say you're going to cancel. I have he bike and the car with the lizard, told them that Flo was going to give me the same coverage for $200 a year less. They came back on the same phone call and dropped it almost $300! As far as towing I got AAA gold so I don't have any issues with mileage or out of pocket and getting reimbursed

love those storeies 'bout the mighty 289. Back in the day guys with the 327/350hp thought they was king SHI@ but along come a guy in a falcon or 65 mustang coupe with a 289 4bbl and a set of headers and would pack their lunch, then eat it, then spit it back out.

So i've read and reread mileage threads here. I usually poke along at around 45MPH on the way to work. the trip is only 2.6 miles one way. Living in town everything is close. I mostly shift early and keep the rev's down. I figured low rev's less gas better MPG. well was I wrong!! on one of the threads someone said "Keep the rev's up" for more mileage, that just seems so counter intuitive to me. More rev's more sparks more ignitions more gas right? So this week, I rode a little harder than usual, not maniacal or anything just stayed in third longer shifted later, kept the rev's up and avoided fifth gears unless i was over 55 MPH Well when the fuel guage hit the refill line i was 30 miles further than usual putting my around the town MPG right at 40 when i usually hit 32-35 mpg. So this week I'm really gonna try and ride differently and see if i can get the MPH up there.

Assume they can't see you ever!!! Drive accordingly!! Practice driving with one hand so you can extend the middle finger of the other to inform them of their driving error just as a community service

:innocent-emoticon:so I've had the links and the E3 on for a while. The bike did feel more spry but I haven't pushed it. The other night was my last evening shift ever!!!! The night was warm and dry, I want to get home to see my sweetie. End result the hinges on the bottom of the floorboards do work and so do the scuff plates.LOL
