  1. New cars do not actually have the old pin and tumbler connected via rod to the latch. The pin and tumbler sends an RF to the unlock module. To keep it simple the RF is short, and not encrypted. The car MFGS are aware of this. Starting the vehicle on the other hand require the fob and a very secure and unique code.
  2. I've read literally hundreds of pages about the switch from .38/9mm to the .4o. All the articles going back 20 years end up with the same reasoning, "STOPPING POWER". ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL BIGGER IS BETTER, Many of Today's modern designs can be chambered in multiple calibers. That's where price per round recoil and other factors can truly be evaulated

  8. no we can just do another one later on this summer! Ocala Howie in the hills Kennedy space center all come to mind as possible destinations!
  9. The issue i guess is that Dyna probably sells 1 yamaha module to 10 or more of every other bike out there, so their response will be slow to non-existent unless you jump and down on somebody. having said that like every other problem this group will come together and solve it.
  10. HMMMM has me wondering about an IC and LED indicator from good ole radio shack.http://www.learningelectronics.net/vol_6/chpt_7/9.html
  11. I know the area where the trike flipped. I also had an accident in that area back in 94. the issue in the evening all along US19 with the construction(been going on since 91 when I moved here and still not done) is areas of intense bright light (street lights, car dealers, strip clubs etc) alternating with area of deep shadow and NO STREET LIGHTS AT ALL!! At 40-60 mph you can zip into a Black Zone of a couple hundred yards and back out in not time. Your eyes don't adapt quick enough after two or three in and outs. Also with the construction and repainted lanes and what not the "DIVIDER" may have been the same color or colors as the road surface there.
  12. sory kant speel coredtly imma gone to publix school
  13. Ha. my RSV no longer purrs. It snaps crackles and ROARS!!!! Baby oh yeah. The idle is nice and throaty, at speed it just a slightly deeper back note. BUT OH MY GGGGGGG when under full throttle its like an F14 flew over a drag strip. I just can't wait till next Wednesday when I pull into Bike night.

  17. In my ex-house i had central A/C the biggest complaint was the fan "speed" or volume of air coming out of the vents was too low. Several a/c guys over the years tried to sell me a new unit to compensate. One day I had the outside compressor pack up. I called one of those 24 hr emergency guys, He came out and fixed, Yes fixed the compressor not replace it. I asked him about the air handler speed. he pulled the cover of the inside unit and pointed to a couple of wires and said here's the speed control, right now your set at 1850 lets bump it to 2450 and he moved three wire to different places on the motor windings. Problem solved!! I'd still be there if it was my "EX" house but oh well. So in my non EX condo I have the same issue whats involved in making the fan motor go faster? I'm not talking world land speed record I just want to feel the air move when I'm 10 ft from the vent. Right now the house is cold enough in the summer and warm enough in the winter, I just want the air to move more.
  18. A quick note to anyone doing this soon. The threaded holes in the HD mufflers is 3/16"-18 thread. the "P" or Adel clamps I've found at local sources have a "loose" 1/4 hole. a little quick drill or file work and they fit. The shortest bolts in stainless at either Lowes or HD or Ace have been 3/4" which is a little long so again a little file work or more washers.
  19. the only "TRICK" is when removing the lower windshield chrome trim from the fairing, "Upwards" means at a slight angle parallel to the windshield not "straight" up. I like having a magnetic bowl close by to catch all the hardware. An extra set of hand for the first bolt going in and the last bolt coming out is also nice. Don't tighten the 6 bolts holding the shield in till all of them are started.
  20. any ever come up with forward controls for the 2nd gen? have the kurikan hiway pegs
  21. well the odometer was off by 5 yds over 1.5 miles according to the GPS. i'll hit the speed trap with both my car and the bike again this week and see
  22. So does any of you live close enough to st pete florida that you frequent the bike nites at either Biff's or Quaker State(in pinellas park). I like the one at Quaker state because its all kinds of bikes, Scoot jockeys, crotch rockets, spiders, vickies, HD by the ton but very few of us:crying:. I've seen a lot of the new strykers and one RSTD but the rider isn't ever with his bike, guess he's always getting beer LOL. Or are there other bike nights in the Tampabay area that some of you attend on a regular basis
  23. okay we all know that the RSV speedo's are inaccurate. So that leads to two questions. 1. If the speedo is off is the odometer off? 2.Is there any way to adjust the dang thing to get it closer? The first question is about figuring fuel economy, I guess a could Google map the route and see how close it is. The second is about drivability, am I keeping up with traffic that is going to fast or am i doing the limit? i went past a school zone with one of the radar timers that shows your speed, it is active 24/7 the slow down lights only come on at certian times. the other day i held the bike at 60mph almost rock steady and the radar showed 43mph thats a little over 40% error.
  24. Sent a little wish I could do more. best of luck
  25. i wonder if one of these headlight polishing kits would work also?
