  3. this was at a movie premier, don't think the guy in the photo knew why I took it right there.
  4. If I remember correctly the first 3 switches control the timing curve. The last three control the rev limiter. I think dynas web site will tell you what settings do what. Mine on the old bike was some advance (ibelieve its the first set over stock) and bumper the rev limiter up to around 6800 rpm
  5. I got up about 8 am, made breakfast,t walked the dog, watched a little bit of the parade. Then I started. Wells its 11:09 am and I'm Done!!!! Instructions are great the parts are First rate. Two pm's to SkyDoc last night to make sure I understood everything. It took longer to get the tools out the clean them and put them away. Do the job on the side stand. The only oild on the floor was what dripped of the clutch disc. I notice no difference in clutch lever feel on my test ride. The big difference was when I dropped the hammer in 2nd gear!! The front lifted on the shocks! The engine still wound up quick, but I was going somewhere for all the noise!! Planning to run the beaches later toady with my GF on the back. I took some more close ups of the internals will resize them and post later today. Gobble Gobble everyone!!
  6. i know its been done to death, but a few questions. I ordered the Sky Doc kit here. checked bunches of pages here, all reference to freebirds post with pics and the Barnett rebuild with pics, but I can't seem to find the original post/articles, any links? also, clutch never slipped a bit till after the last oil change, went to the rotella 4t motorcycle oil for wet clutch, as many here recommend! coincidence? what type of torque wrench do I need inch pound or foot pound? I have a foot pound in 3/8" drive but not an inch pound.
  7. anyone? will stratoliner covers work without changing wheel?
  8. Long story, but I no longer have a regular guy to take the bike to. Going to try to change the front tire myself. What tools do I need? Any articles? videos, picture?
  9. how do I post in the classifieds? Yes I am a supporting member and should have access. can't find a link or tool anywhere since the color change ( I'm color blind red deficient) my next question is how to change the default colors when I log in.
  10. My Great Aunt Bee lived on the SUNCOAST for 70 years, only two kinds of people predict South Florida weather. Damn fools and Damn Yankees. Either way my rain suit works LOL:7_6_3[1]:
  11. read the entire thread three times. When is the M&E? Was it Sept 9th will it be NOV 9th? Or did it get delayed to DEC 9th :7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]:
  12. Don't lower the rear end!!!! The links you see for sale here actually Raise The rear about 1inch Avon venoms, or the aforementioned choices seem to be popular.
  13. :Cool_cool36:So we've had a few discussions on tools and rain gear. What do you carry ALL THE TIME on the bike? Rain gear, compressor, spray bottle of ICE, a couple of rags, a chamois, factory tool kit, aftermarket 10mm wrench, a hex key set, extra nuts and bolts, small roll of electrical tape, two extra pair of sunglasses, full up rain goggles, a couple lengths, of wire and a kick stand plate. What do you carry and can't live without?
  14. So most of us do carry rain gear on our bikes. Some of us even two sets (significant other) Last fall we went out for a ride up the beach, grabbed a late lunch with my brother. Heading home as the sun set it got chilly fast!!! I know i'm in florida, but if your out on a 75' day with a tee shirt, and the temp hits 55 or so that's a bit BRRRRR. So Cindy and I came up with a cool weather bag for our trips. We went to Sears and grabbed two XXl micro suede shirts, a couple pair of cheap isotoner style gloves, and two knit headbands. We stuffed it all in two one gallon zip bags, I pressed em down she closed em up. They take up very little room and now live next to the rain suits in the one saddle bag. these don't replace our cool/cold weather gear when we knowingly head out, (either leather jackets or hoodies or both with padded guantlets and head gear) but its a just in case kind of thing.
  15. Lots of good riding anywhere in FLA if you get off the interstate.
  16. Keep me posted that's in range for my GF. sound good hopeful will be settled in to new job by then
  17. This doesn't really answer your question but. My mileage is about the same as yours light comes on around 120 miles (I've never switched to reserve) I fill up and do the math I am around 29-31 mpg. I like you assumed it was my riding style/area (short trips most days 3 miles one way to work). My bike also was previously owned by a guy with too much money and was dealer maintained,(HAHA) including having the carbs off, cleaned and synched at around 10K miles, due to "Bad" fuel, by the receipt($425.00). I was about to have the carbs off again and have the floats and jets checked, before that I did the following: complete oil change with synthetic oil ( I use the 10w-50 instead of the 5w, because its a little warmer here in good old FL) I also replaced the air filters with K&N filter chargers (fancy name for a high flow design) I also changed my driving style a little bit, Keep the rev's up!!! don't go into 5th at any speed under 55mph!! shift in to second much later, DONT lug the engine EVER!!. my around town mileage is up to 39-42 and my last trip (still stop and go did all back roads) closer to 50 MPG!! I'm now on to my third tank since the changes, and this one will be all back and forth no excursions or little trips in the near future, wil see if the mileage hold up!
  18. Try to avoid racing Harleys all the time,, Not good for her stress level,...Just saying How? I just love the look on their faces:rotf: when you just walk away without having to down shift.......
  19. Ah yes the second time around is always easier. did the rear discs on my Lincoln a few weeks back the left side took over two hours and three trips to the parts store. the right side took around seven minutes (learning curve). Getting any assembly off a shaft with a "Puller" can be a frustrating experience. couple of tips. Impact on the puller not the item being pulled. Quick hit with a propane (not oxy or MAPP) torch or even a blast from a can of compressed air. temp change does wonders. patience patience patience
  20. I may be mis remembering. My old bike 96 "A" model I thought I could start it when it was in neutral while it was on the kick stand. I also thought that when it was in neutral it would start without the clutch being pulled in. Now the clutch must be in and the kick stand up, neutral doesn't seem to matter. Is this correct or do I have a bad wire, switch or sensor? This is the bike I gave my son when I got the RSV.
  21. no cruise control its a 96 A model pretty bare bones
  22. But officer, I only have two wheel so I'd have to do 110mph to break the limit! I'd rather push a Yamaha than ride a Harley. The reason the front tire last so much longer is that it spends less time on the ground. If you never scrap your pegs you just haven't tried.
  23. So I went over finally. Took off the side cover, and used a pair of insulated pliers and bypassed the solenoid (jumper pos cable to starter cable direct) starter came on no problem. took off the clutch interlock and cleaned and lubed it. Now if I hit the starter I get the click, but if I hit it multiple times eventually the solenoid will connect and it will start right up. I assume that the solenoid is weak or on the way out, ordered another one today off Ebay ($11.00) will be here Saturday. Also while cleaning contacts and what not on both handlebar switches I saw that one of the throttle cables is broken. Its:7_6_3[1]: the one on the front side of the bar. which one is this? the pull or push cable? and how hard is it to change?
  24. So I know this weekend was the Fla M&E, However the Light of my Life is not used to long trips on the bike yet. I couldn't get her to agree to running 3 1/2 hrs to St Augustine (she won't go on the interstate on the back yet) I did get her to go to Weechi Wackee springs about an hour north of here. We took mostly secondary roads and wiggled up the coast from St Pete. So next step is to get some rear arm rests and try a longer trip with maybe a few miles of interstate (maybe Orlando of Silver springs) in a month or so. So do avoid numb butt what's the best option for the passenger seat? Will having headsets help? Any other suggestion for 2 to 3 hour trip from St Pete with minimal interstate usage?
