  1. So I am or was a member of another site. This site has to do with a particular car Marque. Now In my bio on the site it lists my experience (over 35 years in the classic car biz) and the vehicle i own as it pertains to the site as well as a list of vehicles i currently own in my sig. Some rather TALL claims were being made by some folks about 1/4 ets being obtained with that particular car in its stock form. I reread the bio and sigs from some of the posters, I asked a rather straight forward question about what was considered stock? I also posted quotes from several magazine articles testing the vehicle and the resultant 1/4 mile times. Several of those poster in question came forward and confirmed what I thought their term STOCK meant only that the bottom end of the motor hadn't as yet been rebuilt. Intake ignition ram air turbo superchargers were used to get these times. AHA. Except one poster, who took an entire paragraph to belittle my IQ my experience my car , my family my dog and anything else he could thing of because of my "stupid" questions. I opened a new post. listing what I thought was stock and what was obtainable as far as performance under that condition, and broke it down as to what could be expected for each step away from "STOCK' Again several helpful posts and honest discussions. Then the same guy who rained on my last post did the same thing again. Calling to question my IQ and upbringing ect. I did complain to the forum admin. I got a "basically its not our problem if he doesn't threaten you" answer. I responded I would like to be removed from the roles of this site. The response was "we don't/won't do that"...My final response was if you don't remove me and and any reference to my email address from your site and I hear from this bozo again you'll hear from an attorney. Well the next time I went by, the post chains were both gone and I was not able to log in. The question is did i go to far! How much should one expect to put up with when reading responses to a post. Perhaps this one guy would ruin any forum he belonged to?
  2. So cruising the site today and I see "YAMAHA RIGHT HAND CHROME BALL" that's it. Kinda peeked my interest to say the least. Sometimes these computers due to either window size of limitation of html or whatever, leave some very interesting lines of text. so "yamaha right hand chrome ball" becomes yamaha right hand ball milled cover. and "female torsion ass" becomes female torsion assembly right side. there have been many other over the years, these two above are recent. I understand the limitations of the internet and computers, what really gets me is when things get published with out a proof reader, or maybe an IQ reader. 'Cause just because the words are spelled correct don't make it right. These are a few i've collected over the years.
  3. I i don't know who quoted you that much? I found a receipt for the last car i shipped. In 2010. It was an 1986 mustang svo from illinois to florida (around 1700 miles) it cost me $846.00 enclosed trailer and extra insurance (the car wasn't on my policy at the time of purchase). Didn't pay for priority so it took around 3 weeks but again they hit the date range they quoted.
  4. Best job ever for a motorhead was working at the SUNOCO station. Our outside air pump was the only one in twon that went to 150 psi (air shocks baby) and everyone ran 260 on Friday nights ( except a couple of AMC guys who thought AMACO ran better) oh well. Our station was right on county line road about a block from the high school football fields. Every friday they'd line up at the light in front of the station and launch to see who could get to the hiway ramp about 1/4 mile away. Oh the memories!!!! Cragar SS wheels! poor man's line lock! 8-ball gear shifts! Gabriel Hi-Jackers! Mini Skirts.......
  5. WHAT!!!! There's another Venture site??
  6. I saw where someone posted the legal defintion of "MOPED" ha. There was one scooter company that actually put pedal on a 250cc step thru just so it could be a "moped" There's suposeed to be a 15 hp aor 150 cc limit on the interstates also. biggest issue is enforcement, cops should be pulling these guys and gals over left and right till the word gets out be legal or walk!! As far as helmet versus bare feet and bare torso. The helmet no helmet things has been done to death its become a personal choice. However no shoes or flip flops affects other drivers because of your reluctance to put done a foot as needed. Bare torso, here again the helemet no helmet. In our state your supposed to have PIP of a certain level ($30,00) i think to operate sans headgear. Same should be true for no shirt due to road rash!!! Again enforcement, bring back inspecton stickers, twice a year your vehicle goes to a state or state approved facility and they check registration and insurance, as well as a cursory exam, Bald tires NO STICKER no lights or mirrors NO STICKER. On the road NO STICKER you get pulled over and impounded.
  7. Haven't looked at the 07 but the 96 did have removable wear plates on the boards! look at item 7!!
  8. 1. LACK OF GEAR INDICATOR 2. LACK OF TACHOMETER 3. GEN 2 LACK OF ON BOARD AIR ADJUST (REALLY MISS THAT) 4. CRUISE CONTROL SUCKS 5. LARGER GAS TANK 6. FUEL INJECTION. Never mind that started becoming a wish list. The question is what don't I like about my bike? Cruise control & range on a tank of gas around town. That's about it. I like the styling and the performance (yes I think my gen 1 was a little quicker) I'm very comfortable on the bike. I can see at night (better light than my car) The ride is smooth. Speaker are loud and clear ( use the aux port). vibration is minimal. She can see over me.
  9. We've kind of veered into this topic in a few other threads but its time to get it all together. The recent gas price increase led to a lot of folks getting two wheeled transport. In my state FL 2 wheel vehicles don't count as a vehicle against your auto policy if you have a teen in the house, so they don't become a PRIMARY operator if you and the wife each have a car and your RSV sitting in the garage. Well it turns out that any vehicle under 50cc and or partialyl pedal powered does not require in our state (FL) insurance or a special operators license even for teens. Several folks have interperted this as meaning that their 13 year old can drive to school!! Well I for one am really upset that these yahoos give the rest of us a bad rap! I've see it all. In just the past month on a six lane hiway through town heavily traveled and speeds in excess of 60 mph. Three people on a scooter! Driving a rather large woman, teen girl on the back also large, with a grade schooler also large standing on the floor board, all carrying groceries in each hand!! Doing 25 MPH and taking the whole lane! An individual on a scooter swung to the right, at least 200 yards from the red light, into the bicycle lane and passed all the stopped traffci, when he got to the light he stopped looked and crossed in the cross walk while it was red! After hitting the road on the other side of the light he moved back into a vehicle lane and speed off. A young man in shorts bare chest, bare feet moving at a least 45 MPH. I my writing to my NEW congress man to see about modifing the current laws, I want to see the following. (now he's one of the few DEMS who unseated a REP so unless he can figure out a way to tax the he might ignore me) 1. All two wheel powered vehcile that are operated on the hiway must be licensed and insured! 2. Operators of any two wheeled vehicle must take a state ceritfied course ( now just motorcycle endorsement for bike over 51 cc require this). 3. Splitting lanes and use of bicyle lanes is strictly prohibited. 4. Maximum usage is 2 persons and all persons under the age of 21 must wear a helmet and eye protection, 5. Closed toe shoes at all times, and no bare torso's 6. Twist and go, Moped or motorcycles of less than 50 cc's are restricted to side streets. 7. All two wheeled vehicles primarly operated by someone under 21 years of age gets a special plate. (already have this but applies to the owner only) stops dad from buying his 16 year old a 2 wheeled rocket with an unrestricted plate. 8. Any two wheeled vehcile being operated by a person who is not certified, will be impounded! Did I miss any?
  10. For over 30 years I made my living in the classic autobile trade, selling mustang parts and restorations. Dealing in other mucsle cars as a middle man for a profit. Just before I left the business started dabbling in antique cars (packards mostly). I shipped a lot cars around the country to and from my shop and well as sending cars to specialty shop for custom work and bringing them back for assembly. I can personally recommend horsless carriage. Used them mulitple times. They're insured, every delivery as been within the time window quoted, and neaver a mark on a car that wasn't there when i bought it. I've used a few others that were cheaper. Had cars arrive filthy, 20 to 30 miles extra on the odometer ( just rolling offand trailer right?) one came 14 days late, others missing chrome, spare tires ect. You get what you pay for!
  11. Big plus if you have silver bullets. You get to where one of those neat o masks Like the Lone Ranger
  12. Has anyone had the oppritunity to get a protractor or other device on one of our bikes as it heads into a hard left hander? I hit the traffice circle on Clearwater beach a little too hot last weekend, almost 45 instead of the recommended 25. Well as one lane was occupied on the circle I was forced to go inside as I slowed. I heard two long scraps from the boards and felt the board push up against my foot during one of them. Well no biggy I got her down to 20 and exited the circle and headed south to the beach area. When we stopped I tried to lean the bike over to see far it was to make the board scarp like that. I couldn't lean it that far!! I had to have a little help getting her back up then three of us leanded it that far, I'd say with a little kentucky windage it was close to 50" definely more that 45". now my 96 Star was built closer to the ground so it scrapped a lot, but this is the first time with the '07. Now in another thread we we're talking about a guy who hit a corner too hard with a trailer on, in that thread they said the tip over angle is 36" on a RSV versus 52" for a gold wing, and I remember somewhere in that thread someone stating that the crash bars hit before the floorboards would , is that correct? I definetly didn't hit the crash bars, there's no scrap marks on them just on the floor board. So how is this mythical angle measured? Is this a number from some magazine articles back in the 90's , when Honda could do no wrong according to magazine editors, and before we all got together here and made our bikes better? With the leveling kit, the shinkos and the shock changes this is not the bike that rolled out of the dealer as far as handling.
  13. A local deputy and good friend of mine, took early retirement two years ago now. He found himself "slapping leather" (his words) when a woman dipped into her purse looking for her wallet. It a shame really we have these wonderful men and women willing to step between us and the bad guys. We pay them peanuts, and give them no respect. When they do do the job there'e supposed to we put them on administrative leave and investigate them. Becuase one percent of one percent of those officers have made poor choices in a high stress situation it is now "open season" and we're supposed to understand why that poor young man stoned out of his mind, robbed a store and ran away, killed two people in his escape attempt shot back at the cops!!! to all our first responders Here's to you!
  14. ACTUALY GOLD WEIGHS(19.3 GRM/CC) .585 % MORE THAN LEAD( 11.3 GRAMS /CC) NOT 100% THIS IS A THREAD ABOUT TRUTHFUL ADVERTISING:bang head:
  15. I don't know about you all, but I find myself yelling at the TV set more and more, especially during commercials! First off there must be over 100 different classes of pickup truck, every singel one regardless of MFG claims to be NUMBER ONE in its class for any one of a dozen different things, mileage, carrying capacity, towing, seating more freaking cup holders !!!!!. I'm a car guy I'll admit I lean a little towards the Blue Oval but, Chevy truck commercial tearing up Ford for the aluminum bed. Okay if you are attacked by a bear climb in the steel cage, but if you gottat carry that summabeach up a mountain, which would you rather haul on your back? A commercail showing a DODGE dually going through some mud while other trucks are stuck, then the next commercail for Viagra of all things shows the same truck stuck in the mud and the driver gets out and uses mules to get the truck out, somehow that equates to sexual performance. Which leds us to Boner pill commercials. I've never sat outside in a bathtub holding hand with my girlfriend while she sits in a matching tub watching the sunset! Now if the put girls with bigger chests and short skirts back in the pick-up truck commercials We wouldn't need so many boner pills. Speaking of pills. whats with fiber/laxative ads? Is everyone full of shi$? Mattress commercials. Foam guys yelling at the camera that thir mattress is scientifaclly proven to give a better nights sleep, the next dang commercail has a guy and gal sleeping on a bed with violins playing while the overdub whispers that their innerspring is guaranteed to give you a better nights sleep. Oh and the Prius commercials AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH. I don't care how quick it feels but a cop in a Mustang or a Camaro or a Charger will run circles around the prius, with the tires smoking while they do it. Cruise ships. Not one of thosing lying mother F$%$#%RS every shows 30 people stagering off the boat puking their guts out because of food poisoning! Also can we stop with the trendy booze please!!! Apple flavored bourbon, Cinnamon whiskey, Marshmellow Vodka? Will Drinking this get me anything? If I can get somebody else to drink it maybe.
  16. Are we really parseing the questions on a poll? That's worse than Shaun Hannity parsing Hilary and Trump all afternoon.
  17. no just the click...all the lights stay one nothering gets dim... now this morning it didn't do it. fired up on the first push
  18. no just the click...all the lights stay one nothering gets dim... now this morning it didn't do it. fired up on the first push
  19. THE NARWHALE because its really awesome and almost legendary, but does exist.
  20. So this is recent, when i get on the bike after its been sitting a while, when i hit the start button i get the solenoid click, but no start. if i hit the button a second time it fires right up! Also noticed it won't start in neutral with the kick stand down anymore. Did a wire jiggle loose, is this a harbinger of battery issues, am I just loosing my mind?
  21. I'll weigh in now that I have some data. Only about 200 miles on the tire so far (model 777) Couple of things i noticed right off. It seems way stickier than the E3 it replaced. I bought the reinforced sidewall or 80 load rating. riding two up its very noticable that the suspension is working not the tire ( that's a good thing). Overall pleased, I don't see anywhere marks yet so I can't attest to longevity. The only thing is I couldn't find a valve stem mark on the tire... I guess some tires don't have them? but it doesnt wobble or thump so its all good. Well it's been a bit longer and i've had the need to "push" it occasionally. What I really like is the handling. The elites I had before stuck well but when leaning into a curve I always felt a bit of resistance at a certain point (around 15 degrees from vertical maybe less) then I had to lean harder to get it the rest of the way over, especailly at lower speeds, which led me to think from all of my reading here on getting the narrow front tire that everyone reccomends and seeing if this would help. Not needed now, the 777 is very stable and predicatable from vertical to floor board scraping, girlfriend screaming angles and it comes right back up with a little throttle or easing up the pressure on the bars. I'm looking forward to putting one on the front.
  22. way to complicated. a simple "P" clamp from HD (Home depot not Harley) on the back of the bag rail is all you need. Its been holding my pipes up for three years now! There's plenty of treads here about HD (Harley not Home depot) mufflers on our bikes. A lot of us do it becuase its cheap and sounds bettery than a Harley does.
  23. First let me say thank you! THANK YOU ALL. I've read and asked question and generally have been a pain in the butt to some of you. The culmination has been me changing my own rear tire. Now back in the 70's I did a few tube type dirt bike tires. This is the first one of this type. Used my lift adapter, got it up in the air and took of the wheel assembly. I used a C clamp to break the beads and two tire spoons from Harbor freight ($5.98 each) I removed the tire. got some soapy water on the new tires and reversed the process! 7.5 oz of RIDE-ON filled her up! while it was apart did a little lube here and there and new pads on the rear disk. buttoned up and wiped down tools away in just shy of two hours! Couldn't have done with out all the great advice here. again THANK YOU
  24. I used to camp with the family, and looked for "Family Friendly" Camp grounds, and after we got a dog "Pet Friendly" campgrounds. Kids are gone, so I always call and ask is this an adult park or a family park. You'd be suprised at how many place answer "oh we a a quiet section, should i reserve you a space there?" Even in the family friendly parks if you get a good 1/4 mile screen of trees between you and the Family side, you barely know their there.
  25. So i've been doing some internet readin' to get get ready to DIY my rear tire. Found this bead breaker on line. Only issue I don't have a spare mercedes lying around.
