  1. Hey don't make fun of us in Florida it gets down right frigid here too. Why just this morning I got out the Leathers, my gloves and my scarf it was down to like 54' BRRRRRR
  2. I don't think the E3 is quite twice the price of the Shinko more like 1 and half time if you shop it. I will say this i'm very aggressive rider and a big boy (282# yesterday) The Shinko 777 i've had on for the past 2000 miles still looks brand new! the last E3 got me right at 5000 miles before the wear bars and center tread were the same. Check you tire descriptions carefully Shinko's make the correct size tire for the rear in several load ratings get the highest number available. A lot of times on line retailers make a "deal" with an importer or wholesaler and will buy 1 big lot of "cheaper" or lower rated tires for a sale or promotion. In other words the $90.00 NAMELER OF NAMEELIN tire may not be the same as what you had last time.
  3. Oh well i may have a bit of time going up. Honey do list is empty finally. Social calendar shows empty days this weekend and both upcoming holiday weekends during the days, and i don't have to work. So I never did get the horn fixed (went on the santa parade with just one) going to do that for sure, I got new lights for under the saddle bags (got batman instead of yamaha logo). I'm thinking of the "Jason" mod and maybe syncing the carbs. I have a tool on order. I changed to Road King pipes and KN style fair filters. I've never managed more than about 34-36 mpg even on trips ever since I got the bike. I also have the "popping" thru the pipes on throttle shut down. (Road King pipes do make it very loud, gun shot loud sometimes) I hardly ever use the cruise control but I'd like it to stay operational. : Will the "J" mod help the popping on throttle shut down. : Will it help with the MPG? : Do I sync the carbs fist then do the mod or vice versa? : I know that riding style has a lot to do with mileage, however even keeping the rev's up doesn't help as much when all your driving is stop and go. I do get slightly better on trips by keeping the RPM higher (shifting into 5th above 60 MPH) What else will help with fuel economy? i'm currently getting about 125 135 miles per tank when the fuel light comes on.(i always pull over and get gas the second the light comes on) i'm usually putting in just around 4 gallons sometimes a little less sometime a little more.
  4. never a stupid question! There are question you feel stupid for asking, I often figure something out as the question passes my lips, or as I hit the enter key on a post. I thinking the mental process of formulating a coherent questions helps us think.
  5. If you are doing anything other than just playing in the back yard or garage during the winter, I'll say this, more than 4 rotors is much more stable. Auto land and auto return are nice. Live video is a must. Check upgrades to software/controller, some of the newer controllers you don't really control the drone, you tell the onboard computer what you want more of a fly by wire experience. (not a bad thing) Some of the starter models also have a "Learning" mode, which slows done the reaction to controller inputs. So if you slam the joystick left or right you get more a of a gentle roll, and it limits the range to about 100 feet from the controller so your $$$$drone doesn't run away.

I was braced and doped for almost three weeks while they moved a vertebrae back into place. Guess what I worked fro my bed. 12 years of school and internship don't necessarily make you smart

  9. Even in city driving there will probably be no increase in fuel economy in the TRUCK scenario. On a Pre fuel injection Big Bore Yamaha with the vacuum operated butterflies there will be an improvement but the same thing could be achieved by staying in a lower gear. Leaving the better ratio available should you get the oprritunity to cruise.

Or any of the dozens of others wanting ungodly money for what is a part time job? :backinmyday:Here we go into the way back machine but in high school the fast food (not all chains at the time) jobs were good for 8-15 hours a week, you went factory or garage/gas station (yes gas stations were manned) if you wanted up to 20 hrs a week(limited by law if you were under 18 and still in school). 20 hrs to about 30 hrs were dry cleaners tailor shop and light boo keeping for moms who wanted a little more income or experience before going back to work full time. The big difference was getting over 36 hours a week and becoming FULL TIME. with benefits and cost of living raises. When business starting cutting everyone back to 34 hrs a week the state (I lived in PA) stepped in and said 32 hrs was full time and benefits had to be offered. When some bigger businesses made noise about cutting staff back to 28 hrs a week, the sate said " we can make 20 hrs a week full time" that stopped. SORRY OFF THE SOAP BOX NOW:soapbox:

Well the bottom line is that the smaller the pinion gear or higher the numerical ratio i.e. 4.10 to 1 (a typically high ratio) means that the quicker your acceleration will be and the lower your car’s top speed that can be reached will be as well. You will be going through the transmission gears more quickly while driving and achieving a faster acceleration but will be losing fuel economy as well.
  12. Oh i hit the chip in first gear three or four times a week!! it just seems like the power comes on quicker than i can move my size 13's to the shifter
  13. Devcon and Loctite both make a Repair putty that is specific to aluminum. Loctite used to sell a release agent that you could spray on a bolt then thread it into the broken casting and spread the putty around it. after thirty minutes you could unsure the bolt, let the repair sit for 24. hours then grind it down and reseat the bolt up to like 85 foot pounds. great for car intakes.
  14. So Ive had a few of these bikes now (three is a few right?) I find that the Stumble Bumper (rev limiter) is in exactly the wrong place (rpm range) for first gear. I mean for me personally If i hit it hard (chuckle head next to me at the light) I generally keep up with or smoke most others, until i go to make the shift, just as i start to move for the shifter and clutch, the rev limiter kicks in. Now on my '96 I had put in a DYNA box and moved the shift point up ( not much from like 41 mph to 47mph, or a couple hundred RPM) it made all the difference. Now i've been looking I don't see the old dip switch programable DYNA kits anymore. Just the ones that have a USB dongle and are programed from a laptop( and cost well over $400.00). is there any other way to move the rev limiter up a bit? I know on the mid 90's Z-28s the rule was don't cut the green wire. On some of the fords you just had to pull a plug. (although I'd never do anything to defeat an EPA device)
  15. So evidently my beloved bike has two horns. One of these horns is conveniently located on the right side and is easy to change. Its easy location however means that it seldom works as its exposed to the weather. Also the wiring is a bit weak, delivering something under 12 volts occasionally. The other Horn is located somewhere in the depths of the left side of the bike, most like under the cowling, its nice cushy spot means that it always works HURRAY, but I've had baby birds FART louder than that horn. So the time has come, before the SANTA parade on Sunday when I must address these pesky things. Any advice on easing the miscreant horn from the cowl? Should i tap into the horn system and get a relay and run a pair of horns somewhere else. I haven't bought horns yet as I've been messing with this part time for the past little while. As i said now i get serious!
  16. if your talking FORD t-bird/ Mercury cougar mid 90 with the IRS set up. automatics had stock a 2.80 or 3.08 ratio it was possible to get a 3.23 special order .also anything over that 3.50 and up was aftermarket install on that car
  17. it may not be the slave leaking but the line to it. theres a junction on the left side where the rubber line transition to the steel i had the small puddle a couple weeks back about the size of a quarter. an 1/8th of a turn with a fitting wrench and no more leak.

Enjoy, an old friend planned and scrimped and invested and took the plunge at 59 1/2. got his SSI rolling his pension and investments, bought a boat and a truck then got bored, started tournament fishing got bored. 6 years in, he's started and sold two businesses bought 3 building and moved twice! He won't slow down. Hope you are blessed with excellent health and plenty of pep and conquer the world or at least your corner of it.
  20. My sister found this going through some of my parents stuff. Its my dad sometime in the late 40's or early 50' notice the throttle and clutch are both on the left! he lost his right forearm sometime in the 40's in an accident and didn't give up the bike for a few years.   21. Actually Larry Struass was the american engineer working for yamaha when the venture came out. He was the one who thought digital tapes were making a comeback so suggested the US edition have a tape deck. everyone thought he was joking so FL means Funny Larry.
  22. THIS POST IS HORRIBLE!!! BECAUSE ITS SO TRUE. 40th class reunion was up north this weekend, and all these pictures of old people were on Facebook.
  23. I was lucky, Dad gave it up when he realized doing the crosswords with a magnifying glass meant he couldn't see so good. He kept his license and the keys to his truck in a box by the front door in case of an emergency, but other than that he didn't touch em again. Living here in FL especially as we moved into a 55+ park last year I see it every day, I wish there was a mandatory retest or at least eye test but the GREY LOBBY is very strong and anything that sound like its limiting seniors will get someone kicked out of office. We actually had a case about three years ago where a man died. His license automatically renewed (YES AUTOMATICALLY NO PICUTE NO TEST NOTHING) his wife returned the license to the state unopened with the word "deceased" across the front in red marker. Several weeks later a letter arrives in a bigger envelope from the state, she open it thinking it part of the final probate. inside is her Deceased Husbands new license with a letter from the state telling it is the citizens right to keep the license regardless of medical condition!!
  24. Yes i feel it's going to be one of those WINTERS:snow2:. why just Monday alone I had to put on a scarf to ride it was a frigid 49"F at 5:30 AM went I left for work.

Its the fear of a national minimum wage that is pushing this. when I was a bit younger McDonalds and others were not careers"!!! it was a part time job for school kids or mom's reentering the work force and the like.I could go on a POLITICAL RANT here about the great society and the evils of welfare and such but (puppy dogs and rainbows) I will not.
