I didn't see it mentioned so I will. If the fuel drained through a weepy petcock into the crankcase. and the bike only runs with the choke (high vacuum) is the petcock open? closed? on reserve? is there fresh fuel in the tank deep enough to allow the pick up to work? I know it seems simple but sometimes>>>>>

As far as UMPHH of the line. I'd have some one check the sync on the carbs. Also the air filters, believe it or not normal operation can clog them up quickly. KN's made a big difference for me. When I first got my RSV I'd thought the same no punch. However, riding with the guys I was keeping up when we were hot dogging and most times catching and passing before the next light! The power of the V-4 comes on smoother so you don't feel that Kick in the Butt the V-twins give when they finally hit the beginning of the torque curve. Just my observation, also don't want to start a war. You may look into a DYNA 3000 box (find an older one with the dip switches not the USB) It will move the stumble bumper up a few mph in 1st gear makes all the difference!!! Check the forums here in reference to living links different tire sizes and others to improve the handling and remove the top-heavy feel! GOOD LUCK AND WELCOME -
Screen Shot 2017-06-09 at 6.26.02 AM.pdf So i found this on the net. A friend of mine had an older KZ1000 police bike with a similar unit added by who ever did the Police bike upgrades. Its a rub wheel that is spring loaded, so when you push the button the motor turns the gear against the spring and the assemble rotates, when it contacts the tire the arm can't move any further so the energy is transfered to the scrub roller which turns the tire. These things are called 'CARAVAN MOVERS" I've seen them for sale between 900 Euros and $1200 AU new. maybe a few used ones on Fleabay or elsewhere.

just an idea, how long till one of us figures how to get the infotainment system and associated handle bar mounted control off a new bike and onto a gen 2? Ditch the CB, and the current radio system. Should be plenty of room. Move the gen3 D pad to the bars and the USB dongle out to the phone mount and BINGO. Next electric reverse!

I don't think anyone is "BENT OUT OF SHAPE" or a 'BUNCH OF WHINERS". We all took to a public forum, and kept things civil and expressed our collective disappointment over one aspect or another of the "NEW" bike. Some of us do resort to a bit of extreme in our writing in order to express the emotion that we feel (I'm guilty I admit, see earlier post in this thread) Unfortunately big touring bikes are a luxury, not a necessity! Unlike the automotive market or the over all motorcycle market, we are dealing with a small percentage of a small percentage. So therefore the builders must think about sales. Yamaha, Harley, Polaris and the others do market research to find what they feel is the best way to get the largest market share possible. Now that the initial shock has worn off, I for one, am intrigued by a lot of what they have done, and I'm hoping now that the platform is out it may evolve a bit quicker that the 2nd gens did. I'll reserve my judgement of the v-twin platform and trans/clutch combo, my brothers Harley with a little V&H upgrades runs around my V-4.So until we start getting some reviews from the magazines as the new bike is put through its paces, we can continue to good naturedly discuss the new bike to death. FOR THE RECORD SO FAR EVERYONE IN THIS GROUP WHO I HAVE INTERACTED WITH IS A REAL STAND UP PERSON, NOT A WHINER OR A CRYBABY, EVEN THE LIBERALS ARE OKAY.

Why two models? Why not just offer an upgraded entertainment system and the electronic locking and be done? Looks like a lot of room under and around gas tankard side fairings. (room for the 4 cyl in a year or two? keeps the interest alive) Having ridden both a GW and a V twin for long distances, its not the same ride. I know a few folks here locally that gave up the GW's because it wasn't riding anymore it was more like a two wheeled lounger. I was expecting much better fuel economy!! computerized fuel management and ignition couple with a 6 speed and variable clutch, I was thinking more like 43 to 53 MPG. Over all I think the styling is BLAH. It doesn't stand out at all, I would think walking down a line of bikes at Daytona you wouldn't even notice it. Electric reverse! now that's something. 700 watts MEH! even little cars have 100 AMP alternators! With the long wait and input from riders over the country (yes I'm sure they even read these forums) I expected something new and unique, its just a run of the mill tourer. My brothers 2 year old heritage ultra has everything that the yamaha does, and he get over 45 MPG! Overall a clean miss by Yamaha! At this point a sport tourer like the FJ is a better alternative in my opinion. Guess i'll just have to wait it out and see what develops off this platform over the next couple years, or like the song say "we'll see the world from my Harley"

HAD A BURNT OUT LED STRIP UNDLER THE RIGHT WING GLASS. Went through the whoopee box i didn't have any new ones left, i ordered 1 pack of 10 on amazon. got them the next day. Ripped the old one off got new double sided tape put th e new on reconnected IT DIDN"T WORK! Pulled the tank and r/h steering head cover found a broken wire ARRGGHHHH resolver and some anti chaff good to go. Also added the Broview LED to the headlamp housing.

these are available on line 5 gall size is $40. Plain and $83 bucks with flex spout. I bought a dozen late last year to meet osha requirements, my guys need to carry fuel for the on board generators. Much easier to pour having the trigger right at the handle than those stupid plastic push the nozzle in things. The ones with the flex spout are vented so we can dump 5 gals of diesel in about 2 minutes.

Well My battery in the 07 is the original. the PO had a tender lead installed because he didn't ride at all.(why get a bike) Since I 've had it I don't use the tender. I do however clean my terminals often. my 96 literally ate batteries due to poor cables and connections. it took me a while to run down all the loose terminals and chaff spots on that bike. So many people just snug up the terminals because they're afraid of over tightened and stripping. I always bear down on the last quarter turn, pushing the bit down into the screw head, and I listen for that little squeal. As far as charging system being inadequate? i've read hear or another forum that the RSV actually puts out max volts all the time and dumps the excess to ground. I've run for hours with the AUX lamps both sets of LEDSand having phone plugged into the power port, and never had an issue. The first time it started funny i panicked , after checking the battery i went through the system and the started switch in the grip was at fault. well 20 minutes latter i had reinstalled and reassembled the switch after polishing the contacts back to a mirror finish with my drexel. Since then no more issues. I've got $$ put aside for a new battery. Probably going to order YUSA on line and hope for another 10 years

This happened late last week. I'm in first and make the coffee at the shop. Usually I go back to my desk and start the overnight orders. After about 10 minutes I grab my insulated mug and head back to tiebreak room and the coffee is ready. Sweet! Well I think it was thursday, I got tied up ( not the fun way) didn't get back to the break room for about 45 minutes. Well a few of the guys had stumbled in. They can't function till the first cup. Well i walked over to the machine and grabbed the sugar poured a generous dollop and a splash of cream then filled up the mug. OH MY GAWD. What a free for all, evidently there are people who have strong feelings about whether to fill the mug with coffee and add condiments or put the condiments in and add coffee. I can't even swear I do it the same way every time. I mean geez! Well this "DISCUSSION" went on for about 10 minutes the funny thing was that Myself the Ops manager and my direct boss all agreed that it really doesn't matter. everyone else thought it made the coffee taste different. Interestesting side bar the three of us are bikers ( i mean we ride a lot) Any how it got me to thinking and observing, how much we are creatures of habit. We do things a certain way at a certain time. Try this cross your arms, now look down and un cross them and recross them with the other arm on top or backwards. Difficult? Ask your friends to do it. I think you find that those of us that run on two wheels are a bit more able to deal with change and doing it different.

No its because when yamaha made a deal with Victory to build there new cruiser. So we get maybe a release date and a 1 bike per dealer roll out before they have to redesign, so we are without a bike for another 4 years.

On the 2 day shipping. I've found that most shippers count from day after pick up to the day of hand off. A lot of parcels get handed to the good old post office for final delivery. so if the pick up on tuesday the two days are wednesday and thursday. If they hand off to the post office on Thursday. they've met their obligation. I don't think removing fluid from the master will help brake lock at all. Master cylinder doesn't have a pressure seal so it could push fluid out. its the check valve that stops fluid from going backer in the wrong direction. AS to heat on the rear caliper, yes it gets hot enough to be uncomfortable to handle, not like skin shriveling hot but very uncomfortable. No air flow. No cross drilling and proximity t downstream exhaust all add to heat build up.

Also several blah blah paragraphs about warranty only covering replacing lubricant and the parts that was damaged due to oil failure, I wonder if that means if the rings seizes they pay for the rings not the rest of the motor? also the cost right now is around 3 times, what auto zone or others has the wet clutch motor oil on sale for on a regular basis. I've always been more afraid of time more so than mileage. i've seen 300 mile old oil that's been in a crankcase for a year turn to pudding due to moisture pick up.

hot weather riding...helmet and clothing

My 86' never felt hot riding it, here in florida. As to gear, i ride every day almost every where except the supermarket and Legion nights. I wear a half helmet and good sturdy shoes. I don't know that boots are always necessary, but that's a personal preference. i have leather full gloves for cooler weather and leather palm half gloves for when its warm. But not always on. I'll admit that I do ride in shorts and short sleeved shirts. Here again, I'm not against those that feel more is better. I've tried fuel face helmets off and on over the years and they just ain't for me. I think what you feel the most comfortable in is good. Being in control and aware is worth more than anything you can wear. I've seen too many squids wearing body arm full face helmets and jack boots doing wheel stands at 60mph, then see them on the news being scrapped off the pavements. -
I have an idea on the layout. can we move the meet and great forums to the top of the list. I don't always get down to the bottom on every visit. I get lost in the other topics on the way. just found out there was a quicky not to far away.

i've got Yamaha tattooed on one check and FORD on the other. My first bike (non centrifugal clutch was a Yammie and so has been every bike since. Both my brothers are the same way until recently, when one bought a Harley. I really hope that this is even half the bike we've all talked about here for the past few years. Otherwise my retirement plans may include a different emblem on the gas tank!

SO WATER COOLED V TWINS ARE AVAILABLE FROM YAMAHA. THE VIDEO MAKES IT SOUNDS LIKE THE'RE THROWING AN ENTERTAINMENT SYTEMS AT FULL DRESSED STRYKER TO ME, AND ADDING AN ELECTRIC REVERSE. NOT EXCITED TILL I SEE SOME MORE OF WHAT WE'VE BEEN ASKING FOR FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS. NOW IF THEY TAKE THE R19M AND CHANGE THE TANK AND BARS THEN DRESS THAT UP!!! MY SOCKS WOULD DEFINITELY GO UP AND DOWN

Attempt to remove the bolt first with the correctly sized end wrench or socket. Purple 222 will break free with 20 foot-pounds of torque or less, while Blue 242 will hold to about 50 foot-pounds. If you've got red Loctite, don't bother trying to break it free; Red 271 is rated for about 3,000 psi of shear strength. Break out your propane or acetylene torch. If you're using acetylene, you need little more than a smoky, yellow "starter" flame to heat the Loctite to its 550-degree-Fahrenheit melting temperature. The yellow starter flame provides more than enough heat to do the job. Apply heat to the bolt head or stud with your torch, just touching the metal with the end of your flame. The trick here is to keep the torch moving around the bolt or stud to evenly heat it, and not to get in a hurry. It's best to avoid heating the bolt up any more than necessary, and to give the heat a little time to work its way down through the metal and to the Loctite. Some like to heat the bolt to a dull red to be sure, but that's a bit overkill. With the bolt still hot, extinguish your flame and immediately fit the proper socket or wrench with a long breaker bar attached. Apply steady pressure, and the bolt should come free with little more than the amount of torque it was originally tightened to. -
RON & MON numbers?

So quick update. at 111 miles i still showed 1/2 tank by the gauge, at 130 miles the gauge showed 1/4 tank and the fuel light came on. at 132 miles the bike started to bog and i switched to reserve. at 135 miles i put in 4.58 gallons to fit the tank. -

Many of the internet articles that pop up on this topic from standard search engine are older, even articles 2 to 3 years old are quoting information that is 5 to 7 years old. Here are just a few of the quote from more recent articles. The most recent reading I've found about the RFS is that someone in the TRUMP administration casually mentioned repeal of the Ethanol mandate, the immediate reaction from the other side was explosive threats . So who knows what the next year of Presidential orders and congressional mandates will bring. The other thing to consider is what we are talking about, E10 fuel or what we think of when we talk about ethanol is a recent addition to the mix, it is a politically sensitive issue to assuage corn farmers and the amount of federal subsidies. In actual fact most refineries (90% of the worlds gasoline is refined in the US) have added Ethanol to there fuel mix for over 30 years for various reasons. So the Ethanol free gasoline being sold is not Ethanol free it just is not as high as those mandated in various states to 10% US FEDERAL MANDATE. The RFS requires renewable fuel to be blended into transportation fuel in increasing amounts each year, escalating to 36 billion gallons by 2022. Each renewable fuel category in the RFS program must emit lower levels of greenhouse gases (GHGs) relative to the petroleum fuel it replaces. [h=2]Fuel Properties[/h]Ethanol (CH3CH2OH) is a clear, colorless liquid. It is also known as ethyl alcohol, grain alcohol, and EtOH (see Fuel Properties search.)
