  1. So when I did my slave cylinder I had to take off the left hand rear finned cover. Evidently I did something wrong putting it back on. I noticed the other day the center or lower bolt of the three has fallen out. I have several spares of various lengths in my tool box. I tried to put one in, it never tightens up! It feels as if there are threads because the bolt feeds inward as I turn it, but never bottoms out. I'm guessing the threads are stripped in the head, but there is just enough left to allow the bolt to suck inwards? I was wondering should I drill our and retap and helicoil it, or just tap one size bigger and use a different bolt? if I go from and 8 to a 9 will I have to open up the hole in the cover? The cover feels snug and doesn't vibrate at all, but it does hold the freeze plug in place doesn't it?
  2. So I'm going try it! Synching my own carbs. Hopefully this will be what I need to get the MPG up to where the rest of y'all claim to be. I'm consistently 29-32 MPG for 4 years now. All kinds of riding and kinds of weather, I got up to 35 on a long interstate trip at 75+mph last year. Bike has always ran good, and the power seems consistent with my last two v-4 yamies. Pipes aren't black or sotty at all. I Live in FL but need the choke every morning to start, some folks fell that unless the temp is under 50F i should n't need it. Occasionally loud "POP" on deceleration, if I let the motor do the work, instead of the brakes. (I Know that can stretch the rods) I do have KN filters in place. I have not disconnected any hose or did the "Jason" mod bike is all stock except for cosmetics. i guess the gauge will be here during the week, I'll do an Oil change and the Sync next weekend and report back as to my results.
  3. There are some posts on a couple of the car sites i frequent about these bulbs. Slyvania gets the output by running them hotter! Lots of guys replacing them every couple months. If everything else checks out it just may be the bulbs. You got lucky with your first one lasting so long. Maybe its time for a BROVIEW led?
  4. So finally had the chance to talk to F4. explained the situation, and they are sending me a new shield. I should have it in a couple days. They do want meet send the original back so they can examine. But I'm happy with the fact they are taking care of it.
  5. I'd love to have both mid or upright controls (like or on the bike now) and a set that I could operate from the forward position. Years ago I saw some kits that allowed both to be used.
  6. First a few months (maybe longer) back, I pulled the starter switch on the bike because I was having to hit the button twice to start the bike. I pulled the push button apart cleaned it then buffed both side of the contacts with a dremel tool. This took care of the problem for me, until!! I have the same issue recurring starting today. I guess i'll have to pull it apart and do it again. It seems to me that several of the "Electrical Thingies" aren't very well sealed on these bikes any suggestions to avoid making this a semi annual repair? Carb SYNC tools for 4 cylinder bikes run between $65 for heche en china to over $120.00 for the one recommended by most of you. My local bike guy will do it for me for around $80.00. Should I get the tool and learn it my self of is this something that can be done once every couple of years and be forgotten about? ( i've had the bike since 2012 just out of warranty) and it hasn't been done yet.
  7. Let me follow through here. It appears that you are claiming PIP on someone elses policy due to an accident involving them, correct? PIP in florid covers the insured vehicle occupants and can be waived by the purchaser. You need to submit a claimed based on the insured bodily liabilityI believe. Either way, GEICO is incorrect in the statue they cited, it actually refers to the replacement vehicle you would get if as a result of injuries your current vehicle no longer would fulfill your needs. For example you drive a stick shift and now require a rental that is automatic or a replacement vehicle that is an automatic. Again as others have suggested Fran Haasch 1-866 law-fran or lawfran.com is a FL based attorney who specializes in motorcycle accidents tickets and what not.
  8. YI [h=1]YI Dome Camera Pan/Tilt/Zoom Wireless IP Security Surveillance System 720p HD Night Vision (US Edition)[/h] This is what i bought. no wires except power and i've got plugs outside on all 4 walls. Acrylic weather dome are cheap. They connect to your wireless router and you can get online data storage in15 or 30 day cycles. Then download the video you need to keep to your home computer. Think all in i've got $40 on the patio camera and $55 on the others (with domes). Alerts for movement right to my cell and to wifey's. Either of can download video from storage.
  9. Sorry guys been busy, post IRMA. I've not been able to engage in my usually witty repartee'. Losing electric and internet and phones at work put us way behind. Of course new homeowners don't care that builders and subs (US) lost almost two week of work, they want to move in now!! 11 hour days non stop. This is worse than an IRONBUTT ride, most days i hit the desk at 5:45 am and don't move until 11:45 or my bladder starts screaming, then do it again from 12;30 till 3:55. Back home and still got yard cleanup and unpacking and resorting everything we threw in boxes to evacuate with. Hopefully its starting to settle down. Miss you all Walt
  10. I'm packed and ready to bug out. I live in a mobile home park, the evacuees order went out at 6am, we decided to ride it out for the next 24 hours. we do have a high and dry spot to go to only 5 miles away, and he's expecting us. Spent several hours yesterday tightening up the homestead, screwing the awing down moving the patio stuff inside all that. If I go the last thing to load in the portable generator and the gas can, try to decide if I need to take the pistol and shot gun. Already warning us of looters as whole neighborhoods are empty.
  11. I had this discussion with my SO recently. She can't/won't be comfortable on the bike anymore. Thought after her eye surgery it'd get better but not yet. I suggested selling my bike and my 96 LSC and getting a late model used mustang convertible, so we could still tool around. She always is worried about me on rainy days on the bike ( Ride almost every day to work). I figured that no bike meant no worries, getting ride of a 20 year old car and replacing with something only 5 or 6 years old. Would make her happier. Well the upshot of the whole conversation after I went on for 20 minutes about all the advantages, was this. She said "YOU BETTER NOT SELL THE BIKE!!!!" Evidently if I don't ride every couple of days the A$$hole factor goes up and the nice guy goes down. I thought I was lovable all the time! So I'm keeping the bike, and the convertible is a few years off. The other thing is the price on even a low mileage RSV has gone way down, We all know its a superior bike, but the public is enamored with the glitz and glamor of Fuel Injection, computer controls and blue tooth connectivity.
  12. Back in my day.... 13 boy scouts sat on the EDGE of the pick up bed with all our gear in the middle and sang songs for 2 hours driving to a "wilderness camp" Sleep overs meant sleeping outside.... Every boy and most girls carried a folding "jack knife" even to school and church Some schools had target ranges and KIDS carried rifles to school Mom dressed in a skirt but wore the "pants" Popcorn came from a pan not the microwave (ask a kid about jiffy pop) Taking a girl out meant you were taking her home
  13. Sorry PUC the second half of the wizard of OZ was filmed in TECNICOLOR and the first part of the movie wasn't black and white it was SEPIA. Neither of which showed up on TV till the mid to late 60's depending on who your richest neighbor was
  14. Back in my day...... A young man came out and put the gas in my car and washed my windshield for less than a $1.00 a gallon. Back in my day.... The first few times you saw a car with radial tires you speed up and flagged the driver down to tell them they had a flat.
  15. My Broview looks the same and I have the same little issue. Not enough back scatter on HI. It would be perfect if the HI was the same as the LOW but just Higher! Well duh! You know what I mean.
  16. Started taking alive before bed, tired of sore hips waking up.
  17. I believe the USB units have a "TUNE" on them, so they'll work right out of the box. Software is PC addressable. Check Dynas website I don't know if you need special editor or not. Move the Rev Limiter up 500 RPM and try it! you'll smile. The stock curve in the Yamaha box takes the advance out at higher RPM putting it back will give even more pull. Adding 2 degrees across the RPM band is a good starting point, and should not be harmful at all.
  18. Perhaps you and he could "partner" you include a set of his plans with your kit at appropriate price, and on every sale he gets $ome your get $ome
  19. Naw go back a comma or two. a well regulated militia. At the time militia meant any able bodied man between the ages of 14 and 35. Age has changed over the years and also abled bodied meaning has changed so has man to mankind, but you get the drift. Also armed meant, long gun not pistol or concealed carry. Keep meant own, and bear meant in the event of riot or insurrection. I wish people would read all the supporting documents to our consitution.
  20. Or for strict constructionist agnostics who hate text abbreviations and can find the innuendo in almost any comment:banana:
  21. sorry i got big mitts 7" tip of finger to palm pad and palms are 6 1/2 across I wear a size 14 wedding ring. So yeah 1 finger.
  22. 5 miles and how much time? have had carbs gunk up sitting for a while on the shelf. I'd try a little seafood and run the beastie for a few miles and see if it goes away. There may be a little of varnish on a needle or seat.
  23. Well I've had mysteriously disappearing fluid in the clutch reservoir for quite some time. Now i drive almost every day in town so I use the clutch a lot! About every 3-4 weeks i'd refill the master cylinder. Never any drips on the floor, and the oil level isn't going up, so I assumed a leak somewhere. Well I bought the gaskets and o rings and coper washers etc from mama Yama and had them on the dresser in the spare room. Saturday morning i went outside and sitting cross legged began disassembling the beastie. I should have put her up on the stand but once I got started, oh well. Got the covers off and pulled the hose. I unbolted the the slave unit and began turning it threw a very complicated set of left right clockwise and reverse motion till I got it out. The clutch fluid evidently was coming from the main seal not the dust boot. a bit wet and heavy dust under the bike, but most of the fluid must dissipate while driving. The piston was a little difficult to remove. when I got it out i cleaned the bore and the piston with an old headlight polishing 4000 grit sponge i had laying around. got the new seals in place popped it together and reinstalled. I was anticipating a fight getting everything to line up in there with no room and its dark, but it almost fell back together. I got out the Mighty-Vac and bled the system. Wow one finger clutch operation like when it was new to me 4 years ago! No leak , its staying dry in there. ( I did debunk with some spray solvent) ' so good to go!
  24. You may want to check with the MFG or at least the owner's manual or a RV dealer that handles that brand. Many of the RVs built in the last decade isolate the chassis or start battery from the house or coach battery automatically. Also the house battery may be wired to the generator already to charge in place. Some of the rigs now have three way switch which allows the house battery to connect to the chassis battery for starting only in case it is runs down. RV electrics are a whole different animal . as mentioned above the 110 volt plugs are different when connecting to shore power (NEMA std i think) The house or coach 110 sockets should be already wired into the gen set, as is the A/C. Some of the onboard Generators have a panel on them or in the compartment where they live with clearly labeled 110 out and 12 volt out ports. very few have 220 out, even though the gen may have 220 windings for A/C. Most on board gen sets are 11kw or higher from the factory. good luck
  25. more or less decided to give tis one a try its from daytona helmets. I know that some people figure there's very little protection in a thin lightweight helmet, but it is both D.O.T. and ANSi rated. Any helmet is only rated for one impact anyway, technically even if you drop a helmet it should go back to the MFG for recertification. Anyway the weight of a bigger helmet in stop and go traffic gives me a sore neck, I refuse to wear a full face and neck collar!!
