This whole helmet replacement thing seams like a big contradiction when you consider that there are still States that permit one to ride without a helmet... anything is better then nothing. Having said that I won’t ride without a helmet however I would like to know how these companies formulate the expiry date. I agree with straycats comments and don’t think that anything magical happens to a helmet that’s been looked after to warrant its disposal after five years. Call me cynical but I have a hard time taking advice like this when I know the motivation is to sell on something else.

Guess it would help if I included the 'link'! http://www.papffa.com/

Just read the post and seeing that truck sure stirs up a lot of memories for me... here's a link to my old station at Toronto's Pearson Airport. The truck photos must not be up to date because they've got some 'BIG' guns in there now.

Thanks for the info. Today I went into an Auto Zone and they had the 1 Gallon Sea Foam for $59.99 (the Tractor Supply is too far from me). The good news is that they called and confirmed the sale price then gave me a price match.

Yes, mine is North City who uses Road Wings through Elite Insurance compamy... No wonder Insurance is so expensive!

Hey Charlie, ask your broker to get a quote with 'Road Wings'. My rates for full coverages is $898.

I agree with most all the comments here however I had a big disappointment at one point during the Olympics. It came when the media started ‘quantifying’ the success of the Olympics by the ‘number of metals’. Don’t get me wrong because I think the metal system is a wonderful symbol of achievement and this is a competition, I just didn’t like the talk of ‘owning’ the podium. Thankfully, through necessity I suppose, that talk got turned around and the focus went back to ‘efforts and achievements’. I was thoroughly impressed by the level of passion, determination, and skill that was exhibited by all the athletes! The filming, analysis and technology that has gone into the coverage and bringing it to the ‘screen’ is truly amazing! My compliments all around.

Hey Yammer Dan, all this talk of "cow patties" I think you'll get a kick out of this song... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwkRz-aMiPE]YouTube- cow patty[/ame]

To answer your question, yes there is a way. You can go in to your GPS and delete unwanted files such as all the different voices and languages and just keep what you’ll use. I called tech support and he took me to another site where we could link our computers and he was able to go into my GPS and delete enough files to make room for the whole download. All this after replacing my unit two times outside of the warrantee... I sure can’t complain about their service! In fact the second time I sent my unit in they received it on a Friday and the following Monday I received the new unit delivered to door. Not only that but they also (at my request) transferred all my data to the new unit. Oh, and the 2010 update was complimentary.

Who would like Dinner/comedy theater for eight in Niagara Falls?
dragerman replied to dragerman's topic in Watering Hole
I hope some of you were able to get your stories in, the dead-line for entries is on Feb 28 and the winner will be anounced on March 3. The odds of winning are pretty good! -
I was going to say that folks up here generally flash their lights to oncoming traffic for them to slow down. Not just for speed traps but for accidents or obstructions as well.

After moving to Niagara Falls the first thing I did was to renew my passport. I really like being able to make trips over the border for shopping, motorcycle trips etc. and feel as though I have the best of both worlds. Truth be known, whenever I've been in the States I've always felt at home, borders and passports are merely a formality. So apply for your passport and get your butt up here! Enjoy a bit of what we have to offer... this is your home too! Life is good and if I win I’d like you to join me, cheers, now let’s eat and have a few laughs! -
Just recently I had submitted an entry to Niagara Contest and won a third place prize for a $100 gift certificate towards a local merchant here in Niagara. Fist place prize was a new furnace (installed), 2nd was a fridge and stove. Unfortunately (depending where you live) the contest was only open to Niagara residence. Well, they’re hosting another contest and this one is open to whoever wants to apply! All you have to do is to write a little blurb about ‘What you are doing to beat the winter blahs’! Submit your stories and 'you' will have a chance to win! Stories will be published online and will not include any personal information (name, phone number, email, addresses, etc) and will be assigned a contest number, they will reply with your entry number. I have talked with Walter, the CEO of Shop Niagara and he has informed me that you do not have to live in Niagara to submit an entry. So who better to write about "Winter Bla-ahs" then motorcycle enthusiasts!! Simply go to www.shopniagara.ca and click on ‘CONTEST’, it’s near the top right of the page. Once you’re there click on ‘Contest rules’ and it will give you details such as prizes and contact information for any questions. First prize is dinner for eight at ‘Oh Canada eh’ (dinner theater/comedy). Get your stories in, have some fun with it and good luck!! Perhaps you’ll win and the weather will be nice enough to ride in to beautiful Niagara Falls with your scoot to claim your prize! You folks in the 'sunny south' might struggle a bit with this!

This little guy has my back covered... my little girl sits up front with me.

Perhaps it would help if those who ‘don’t’ have the wobble post their tire dates as well. Is it possible to set up a poll?
-
We can write it off as PMS (though it was quite funny) PS. I'm still laughing!

The date on my Kumho 4508. Still no word back from Kumho in regards to the max install psi.

... the dust from your PC. Just a friendly reminder to everyone to check your PC’s (Personal Computer’s) for internal dust, especially around the cooling fans and power supply. I took my unit outside today, opened it up and took the air hose to it now it’s as clean as a whistle! Yes I know, it's hard to unplug from VentureRider.org but it will only take you a moment. Besides, if it hasn’t been done in a while it might just save yourself power supply problems down the road. If you don’t have a compressor with ‘dry air’ you can buy compressed air in a spray can. Don’t forget to unplug!

Hoping and praying for the best!

I still wonder if the excessive install pressure is possibly affecting the integrity of the tire in a way that is not visible. I have made some inquires (last week) to a Canadian Kumho representative who is consulting with the US technicians in regards to the install pressures and the effects that excess pressure may have on these tires. For the most part I suspect that I will get a textbook answer (if any at all) but I’m hoping they will not only answer but also expand on it and perhaps also provide some test results. As soon as I hear back I will post the information. If in fact the wobble is a result of the tire being exposed to excessive pressure the next logical question becomes ‘how can the tire be installed without over pressurizing it’?... One thought I had (which if going to the Darkside is not controversial enough...) was to modify the rim. Just thinking out loud and trying to think outside the box.

Before you try to secure the cowling back in place check that the front side engine guards are in proper alignment. If the bike has been bumped or dropped on its side the engine guards may slightly pushed back causing the cowling to come out of alignment. Have a close look at the engine guards to see if there are any rub-marks on them. Just a thought. If you need any plastic repairs I have had tremendous success with Plastex ( http://plastex.net/ ). You can permanently rebuild plastic tabs, fill in large areas or mend small cracks. With or without a bike this product is very handy to have around.

If you ever use this stuff you'll never use anything else http://plastex.net/ . I'm very impressed with how well (and how fast) it works and am a very satisfied customer!
