On Saturday, the local Indian dealership hosted the factory test ride crew. I rode six different bikes. The new Indians are really nice, the ones with the liquid-cooled engine are great to ride and all the bells and whistles on the fairings are really cool. If I could afford a bike, I'd consider the Pursuit or Challenger to replace the RSV. When I got back on my '08, my first thought was "this as a really comfortable bike!".

I only find a few hours a week to try to work on it these days. I traced the electrical problem to the pulse generator for cylinders 1 and 4 (pick up coils on the crankshaft). I bought a used assembly on ebay. This picture is taking the old one out, I just got the new one installed/routed and hope to start putting parts back on this week.

I bought a non-running 1981 CB750 Custom this spring and have been trying to get it back on the road (might be getting close with the not running issue, finally).

I have the large Clearview with the vent also. I find there is little noticeable airflow through the vent and would go without if I were to do it again. It is a bug catcher and a pain to clean. This is just my opinion however and even my wife doesn't value that.

I think the failure of the new Venture is significant. The second gen has been out of production for 9 years now. I plan to keep mine as long as I can keep it running, and that's what I get from this place. Thanks Freebird.

Yes, I first learned to ride on a cb750, so I've wanted one for sentimental reasons. Too many have been destroyed recently (hipsters and cafe racers).

Drove 3 hours each way through high winds today to pick up a project. hope to get it running to commute to work. She needs a bit of work.

Cassette deck question
AGrengs replied to rollingjones69's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Rip the guts out of the cassette player assembly then reinstall it. You end up with a small storage area with the door back in place so's the dash looks original. -
Lift Adapter - Need to borrow one in April, or so
AGrengs replied to RedRider's topic in Watering Hole
I'm in Chippewa Falls. If you don't find one closer, you can come and borrow mine. -
We stayed at the Meadowlark motel. Nice place, spitting distance to the Wheels of Time museum.

This is completely off topic, but I was in Maggie Valley last week, also.

Fiats always did suck to work on.

The local Indian and Royal Enfield dealer had test rides going today. First I rode this: It rode really nice, but I didn't care for the really wide bard and the backrest sucked. Then this one: The 116 is a beast! Really liked everything about this bike. Then this little Royal Enfield: It had stupid-loud pipes that I hated and the mid-controls made it hard to ride, but it was fun and with forward controls I could ride one around as a local bike (I'm 6'3" with long legs, so a lot of bikes don't fit me). Finally, I took this one out: It was crazy fast and very fun!

I've been replacing the lights with LED. I did the turn signal relay a little different than the write up: I cut out a section with dremel cut-off to better access the jumper: This made it easier to solder the leads: Then I epoxied the housing:

A neighbor of mine owned one of these and loved it. I rode it once and it felt like more than 800cc, real nice pull. Kawi's are good dependable bikes (the Boulevard that is referenced elsewhere is a different bike from a different manufacturer).

Don't overplan your route, allow yourself to change it up on the fly. Don't insist on a set daily destination; if you tire, find a place to stay, if you feel good, keep going.

The One WD-40 TRICK every motorcycle rider NEEDS TO KNOW
AGrengs replied to saddlebum's topic in Watering Hole
If you drink enough WD-40 you will not die from Covid-19. I'll stake my reputation as an idiot on it. -
That was a very nice obituary, it makes me wish I'd known him. Condolences to his family.

Goldwing was going to be my bike of choice back in '08, but being long in the legs, I couldn't fit behind the bodywork. My knees would be slamming into a row of switches as I went down the road. I was really disappointed until I found my RSV. All the leg room I need!

I'd have to verify, but I'm pretty sure we get to use one ear only here in WI.

Thanks, those look interesting. Do you have any issues with the detachable cables while putting helmet on? Also, do you get the ones with a mic to receive phone calls?
