  2. having never used a modulator, i cannot speak from a riders point of view. that said, i have seen modulated headlights in front and in my rear-view mirror, there is NO way , that anyone could mistake them for turn signals! every kid, from first grade on up, recognizes "flashing lights, as a school bus, police officer, ambulance, firetruck, or some OTHER "out of the ordinary" vehicle! i think , this girl was "grasping at straws",looking for an excuse, for her negligence! do modulators work! absolutely! just my nickel's worth. just jt
  3. thanks, but NO THANKS!!! lol now wouldn't me and OLD charlie be a "pair to draw to"???? both crippled up with those "ritus brothers", too old to do anything, except recall fond memories, (when we can remember to do it). lol besides , i can tell when some one is trying to "skin me", in a trade! just jt

  6. i never owned a "big bike", until about 2 years ago. i haven't started it in over 4 months. i LOVE tinkering with it,but i ain't crazy about riding it. i guess when i get all the bugs worked out , things will be different. am i scared of it? DAMN RIGHT , i am. not so afraid of hurting myself, as i am of crashing it , again, and having to repair All those &$##%$^ tabs again! my dad always told me, "as long as you are afraid of a bike , you can ride it." "when you lose that fear, it will ride you"! sometimes, bad things happen to really good people. just jt
  7. everyone in the eastern, sector of the U.S.! is everybody ok? seems to be a bad week , storm -wise, all over the eastern half!!!!! sure would be nice for ya'll to check in! DON'T MAKE ME HAVE TO COME OVER THERE!!!!" just jt
  8. very well put, mike. you have shown ,yet another side of your "philosophical self". and i have to say, for once, i totally agree with you. life is about lessons learned,be it in a classroom, a boardroom, or at the "school of hard knocks". now tell us, where'd you read that! lol just jt
  9. jeff, i too , am glad you saw our site mentioned and decided to check US out. you , your family, your dad and mom, are in our thoughts and prayers. please don't take lightly the "offers of assistance". they are not mere idle comments. we ,as a family, would do anything that you and yours might need , to help. just jt
  10. congratulations on your new ride, dennis!!! i do hope and pray, that you get many safe miles and many happy smiles out of her! just jt
  11. jeff! you can't "play in this poll", because you have a magic wand! you must have, because everyone here, who knows you personally, says you are a "wizard:stirthepot::stirthepot:" with first gens!!! lol just jt
  12. can you imagine how many "light years" it would take an individual, like don, to round up a group this large, if it weren't for the internet, and yamahas! i don't know of any other site, with any other "tie that binds", who has as many active members, with so much caring, and self giving. i am proud , that i was allowed to become a member, here,AND IT DON'T COST ,NUTHIN'!!!! just jt
  13. i first read of this, at lunchtime, today. all afternoon and into this evening, i have been searching for words of comfort. i simply cannot find any, so i will echo what EVERYONE else says. may the father, in his infinite wisdom, watch over and heal all your wounds. just jt
  14. hey , don. i can remember when ALL motorcyclists, wore those "taxi driver caps"! i think that was before "helmets" were invented. lol thanks, just jt
  15. guilty!!!! khb-3824 -hipshot! had a 23 ch. johnson. then got a 23.ch.cobra w/250 bi-linear amp. lol that was a WHILE back! just jt
  16. i don't know which "moderator" made the catch, but i am GLAD that he did! that post was TOTALLY, out of line. sorry. that's just my opinion. just jt
  17. here is an anonymous quote , i thought you might like! SAMSON KILLED 10,000 PHILISTINES, WITH THE JAWBONE OF AN ASS. EVERY DAY, 20,000 SALES ARE KILLED WITH THE SAME WEAPON! :confused24: just jt
  18. point well made, and point well taken, thom. sorry to have offended you. just jt
  19. not having ridden a second gen, i cannot comment on how the brakes work. some here, like freebird, have installed a "metering valve" of sorts that helps keep the rear tire from locking up. i never have been able to understand why yamaha, decided to stop linking the brakes on these behemoths!lord knows , they are a great idea. just jt
  20. just last week, i made a similar statement. it was something about harley riders being indestructible.met a LOT of opposition, here. maybe it was the way i worded it. today, for instance i must have seen 500 riders , going north on hwy 59. they had all been down to south padre island, for the fall rally. 98% of them weren't wearing a helmet, i guess because they were too hung over! just jt
  21. hey, KIT!!!!!!!!! man ,you're gonna have to get up real early in the morning, to stump denden! i sometimes think he is a "yamaha spy/engineer," planted here to learn what happens to thousands of bikes, without having to do "an official yamaha survey"!!! lol just jt
  22. no big secret , jack. mk-1, has to be early 1st gen. and mk-2, has to be '86 and up, first gens! lol now i guess i'll wonder if i'm correct or not! lol just jt:confused24:
  23. jack. i had the same thought. i knew what happened inside the cylinder, i just never thought about the "explosion", creating a flame. especially inside a sealed chamber! just jt
  24. mike, i wouldn't have any use for something like that, but MAN i am envious of that shop and all the space! just jt
  25. like the sign above the gate to the "funny farm" says THE REASON WE'RE ALL HERE, IS 'CAUSE WE AIN'T ALL THERE!!!!! i too agree, that everyone here, is good folks! maybe one of these days i'll get to meet one or two of ya face to face. just jt:confused24:
