I'll be there. Haven't been to Tybee in years, so probably get there around 10 and do a little sightseeing. coming from Hinesville, should take an hour plus.

Endless clutch woes
6pak replied to jimmyenglish's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
with the '89, I had to go two steps further. First, I took the line off at the slave, and held fingers over both sides of line. pumped handle til it made a mess. put line on slave then removed bleed screw. Held finger on hole and pumped til it made a mess. Put screw back in, connect autocraft brake bleeder kit from advance auto parts, about $8. Part No. AC818/W80617 Once I had the line connected to the kit, I pumped fluid until I had no more bubbles and then continued pumping handle until I filled the little resivoir on the kit 2 times. This is the 2nd '89 that I've had, and have done the same thing with both. Takes about 1/2 to an hour (depending on thirst and beer supply). If all else fails, this will work. -
Cold front coming thru thursday. Forecast for upcoming weekend, sunny in the 70s. Gotta love the south!

VA Claim approved yesterday. Don't know when the checks will show up, but my Disabled American Veterans rep says we have some final paperwork to send them, then we can finalize it.

Well, we haven't divorced yet, but we have seperated. Liz is still in Tennessee, I moved down to Hinesville Ga on saturday. All the grandkids are now within 10 minutes from the house. The 7th is due in about 3 weeks. Maybe now I can start making some of the M&Es. Liz and I have split on pretty good terms. We decided that a 25 year friendship was worth more to us than a one year marraige. She is still one of my best friends, we just couldn't live together. Different priorities I guess. I am also now medically retired. The cardiologist finally said no more work, so I now have a social security claim and a disability claim working wth VA. Meanwhile, short term disability thru the job. So at least I'm not broke. Yet.

Very nice. The black and silver is the same color scheme that I put on the '89 before I donated it. Love the combination. -

The first bike That had a tag on it was a '74 TS125 suzuki that my Dad and I bought brand new in the summer of '76. I was 15, & had saved $300, and Parschals Motorsports in Holcomb NY had a used Husquevarna 125 for sale, so we went to get it. My Dad took a look at it and then he and the owner started talking. Dick (Parschal) told Dad that he had 2 leftover ts125s for sale that were still in the crates. So Dad gave him my 300, and put another 360 with it and I ended up with a brand new bike for $660, tax, tag, and title included. I showed it to My best friend John's Dad, and and 2 days later, John was riding the sister 125. Talk about a lot of fun. And a lot of memories, and let's not forget a few scars. The bike in the pic isn't mine, but is identical.

Sounds fishy to me!

Ok folks here it is, the winner of the DAV rafflebike is Doug Jones from Wartburg Tn (pronounced whatburg). Mr Jones is an elderly gentleman, who will probably give the bike to his son. He rode the bike home last night. Liz asked him to wait a moment for her to go get a camera, when she came back outside, he was already gone.So no pics, sorry. It doesn't matter anyhow, as the DAV raised $2900 thru this raffle, and that was the whole point. Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket for this, and thanks for the support. Liz, Joe, & DAV chapter 26. By the way, I could never have sold an '89 1st gen with 89000 miles on it for $2900!!!
-
Hey Bob, your tickets in the bucket, along with 289 others, I'll try to post the winner tonight or tomorrow.
-
The total donations that the Disabled American Veterans collected for rafflebike tickets is $2900!!! The winning ticket was supposed to be drawn on July 4th, but the ticket has a disconnected phone # and no address. You can't even read the name!! Don't know why the guy would make it illegible but he did. So for those of you that bought tickets, the DAV officers have decided that if they can't contact the guy or if he doesn't step forward by the monthly meeting at the post on tuesday July 7th, that they will draw another ticket. So, thank you for the support, and keep your fingers crossed.

Herb, I have a set of them in black that I took off the moneypit and never put back on before I donated it. Let me look in the garage tomorrow and make sure I have them all. Do you also need the one for the passenger? I don't know if I have that one. I also have the 2 front ones in maroon. I don't use them, they block the flow from the airwings. Joe.

Jury Duty Scam DO NOT DELETE WITHOUT READING ! Pass this on. This has been verified by the FBI (their link is also included below). Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call. Most of us take those summonses for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of fraud has surfaced. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo; your identity was just stolen. The=2 0fraud has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma , Illinois , and Colorado . This (swindle) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they are with the court system. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud. Check it out here: http://www.fbi.gov/page2/june06/jury_scams060206.htm And he re: http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/juryduty.asp Yep! It's true

I got this in an email, thought it was kinda cool. I wonder if GM will ever make it back to the days when they made stuff worth collecting? I hope the link works. www.tinyurl.com/bits-001

If the fluid is dark......time for a change. Old fluid breaks down when it gets hot....so you lose pressure. Syringe out the old stuff from reservoir.....top up with new...and bleed slave till the clean new stuff with no air bubbles comes out bleeder. Yes, but I thought that this would cause the clutch to slip which it doesn't. It does the exact opposite, as in I have to pump to get it to engage. I am going to try changing fluid anyhow, will let you know.
