Unfortunately an other thread I missed.. Very pleased Hotel California came to you cause and for lots of reasons! Now the last time I visited my GP was after divorce, the last words we shared were, "use it or loose it" so staying active in general just helps me live a more carefree lifestyle.. Was telling Puc that cause of my shoulder injury last year which lead to my back getting out of shape (I do yoga for it which works super well) knowing I can't handle the weight of my big bikes this year, am thinking I'll build or find a cruiser type setup this year, too boring to just buy one;) Anyways Bud stick around your posts are relevant,,, that goes for Bongo too Patch

Yep what a bunch of characters! We'd better tone it down before Dad steps in and shuts the thread down;) So I found the link to the chat YEH! Why didn't any of you manables tell me it was located in the header, I wondered? Now I know the reason, cause you all wanted to keep Mama in leathers a secret!!

As I mentioned Puc recently life got real busy real fast for me. After the pm I thought well this club will have to go back on hold, while I get up to speed, then I thought nope that's not what I want so I make it a point to at the least to check my emails and respond when I have the time and if I'm in town! Something that those of you that know my posting may muse at is that I am use to relying on my memory and, as we see it isn't as reliable as it once was, so not fare. The neat thing about this place is that we usually correct one another like gentlemen. As I read thru the W/H so many of us are addressing life altering plans which of course consumes us and rightfully we need to dedicate our time in order to adapt; we may choose to ignore say the club activities and friends be them here or 20 minutes away... But as I mentioned yesterday things change and we change with them and leaving and coming back is a balance and is nice to have familiar folks around to get caught up with. I think a chat room activity is ideal for that but chat rooms like forums need their anchors,,, know what I mean Puc. Rbig1/ Rodney post says it all we're busy! All of us at the same time? Anyways I had some time during the day to think about it and the above is my conclusion, Puc's fault, again;) Cheers

Hmmmmmmmmm? Puc 2 years back I was looking down the barrel of retirement, now I'm climbing out of it... The same old same old is the one thing we know for sure Bro, life keeps a changing aint nothing wrong with us gathering at a chat room verses posting, its about the dynamics! Now what's up with the machine gun chit ? Hmmm This chat room location reminds me of a time.... In BC, I ended up in Washington looking for my motel room...... Man dem were the days, what was her name and who did the driven? Behind what door Puc??

I just got to thinking "How Come?" Well where is this forum Mama?? Hmm

I have been walking through life with this for so long that I think, I wouldn't know how not to. When it flares I ask what are the recent new events that are influencing, then usually shrink my world to a more controllable number of potential influences and, dial down or out for a short time. If it's sleep related then I latch on to the last remaining glimpse before waking, and I face it head on, 'what were my options" so I strip away what ever power it holds over me; that leads to some anger but I have learnt to control that making my moments easier and quicker to pass through. Was asked to leave my "box" with .... My reply was 'if you trust your soul to me to keep safe, then I will trust you with my box" then asked, "well where do you keep your box" "same place you keep your soul" These memories belong to us and I for one prefer to maintain their safe keeping! Not that I don't trust in others but my corral is built from understanding ptsd and how it came to be a part of my life; so trust and ptsd isn't any easy combination and as you know only the best influences are those we trust;) Patch

Heated grips or anything else heated.
Patch replied to grubsie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Being one that has ridden across country in November I can share this experience with 2 different setups on 2 different bikes. Much of my right side is rebuilt so blood flow elbow down and knee down is an issue in coolish weather; your core heat is first priority, for this I have an oldish vest witch pulls about 2.5A if memory serves I measured it 2 years ago. SK bought a jacket for himself which pulled about an amp less, so they have improved since my purchase! I wear leathers top to bottom so I don't need the heat down the arms cause it is wind proof. The neck is very important too get a good slip on. The helmet, oh my... it is worth covering the head and having a proper fitting leakless helmet that you can at least vent a bit from the rear! Hands well cruise helps lots, one bike with heated grips and the other not, shielding in front helps more, the other is for me, those cheap kids wool gloves then my leathers over them. I have really good winter riding gloves but I prefer the other setup. Boots, well one thin pair and one thicker pair with wiggle room; on really bad days I've slipped on thin trash bags like those used in the motel waste baskets.. Makes a difference. Early morning I found the hardest and usually I'm pulling off around sunsets. -
mine is similar to this and if need I use alligator clips for a different fuse setup https://www.amazon.ca/302M-Fuse-Buddy-Mini-Tester/dp/B000X29VTG/ref=sr_1_257?hvadid=229943370603&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9001309&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1o1&hvqmt=b&hvrand=12748074130295580739&hvtargid=kwd-297063173031&keywords=automotive+electrical+tester&qid=1554412505&s=gateway&sr=8-257

Yep I look it up in the library ad it is on the flasher fuse Br wire.. Bottom left hand corner https://www.venturerider.org/wiring/99-09%20Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Venture%20Simplified%20Circuit%20Diagram%20Rev%20B.pdf I have a little meter that I use on bikes or cars for chasing power draws, not expensive and plugs in place of the fuse. The reason I mention this is cause knowing which circuit is the issue is being more than half way to solving the problem... Or follow Puc's compass advice ....pointing up is north make a left and see what happens;)

I'm sure that ,that is a shortcut key you have programmed under my name!

I can't believe you guys picking on my maturity! I was looking for some schematics and had to go thru pages of "I don't remember's" before finding them! Maybe Keven was on line and shuffling the deck while I was a looking? He's like that, can't take your eye off the quiet guys.. North is pretty cold Puc, seems like I'm numb enough these days;) Still have a pretty busy work schedule too. Geez thinking that EU guy was right about my internet friends after all

Am I out of order again or has the library changed some??

No Spark - both rear cylinders
Patch replied to Promax150's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you are sure there is no spark on the rear cylinders only, check the pick up coils as Bongo mentions you'll find this info on 7-37 & 7-39 I would suspect the connection plug to those pick ups first tho. Let us know Patch -
This is becoming a habit Puc For the power draw...... What is the reading? and where are you measuring it?
-
That would not make sense, to me.

Yep and remember the Vega?? The best of them had 289's lol Amsoil use to promise that they would stand behind any warranty issue if their product was blamed for engine failure/ware... Not sure if they still do but it was once a bill part of their promise. What I don't get is reading that the exhaust valves stay open ,which means the springs stay compressed! I know you mentioned they are using single coils,,, and, for low rpm machines that isn't a negative as the benefits are not hard to realize... But if as was said the lifters are wearing, well then so to must the cam lobs so, it is easy to come up with the question as to where is that resistance coming from? If the valves are sticking then what else can stop a valve spring from returning to valve to seat,,, outside of the guide seizing to the stem? Unless the exhaust valve material is defective and they are expanding past design expectations?? No better time for that to happen then in traffic and likely the rear jug?? So yes as was mentioned if the rider smells a strong gas odor then certainly this poses a risk even a potential for fire within the exhaust system. Here's what I think could happen; there being 2 cams with a fuel injection system monitoring crank rotation and position then the injector continues to time in/on even tho there is no compression and, the plug even tho wet will still fire and, may light the fuel which will burn slow do to no compression, then be pump out on the exhaust stroke and into the pipes... I would like to read thru the shop manual to get a better idea of her design...hmmm Very disappointing so looking forward to Yam's silver lining.. -

To be clear I am on record as saying that I would only recommend factory recommended parts, service and lubes, at least while under warranty. In your shoes I would be disappointed as well! -
This can be a touchy topic and may cause disagreement but,,,, while this club started as a second kick at the can for Venture riders...... I don't see or feel that this is a Venture or even a Yam club! Take Snag, I've seen elsewhere on other forums back when I was more active... What was it like a year ago he said Hello it's been too long? My point is that forums have to grow, Don and I chatted about this once sharing some experiences... What I prefer to see is that we be known as a gear head hangout; and why not aim for that. We have a verity of solid experience to share. What I personally don't appreciate is reading a complaint (how I view them) about a bike and we just jump to the most likely... verses putting the new member through a proper troubleshooting experience that makes best use of his time money and forum! Not going to tell you folks the whole story on this but to say- Freebird mentioned friends here, well not long ago and over a grand piano island bar I built and where many a good moments have happened with many eu visitors I mentioned this club in passing during a conversation about how we reach out to others and what our general experiences are. Not sure what tripped this fellow about men meeting of the net but certainly I remember well him saying that we as in us here can not consider ourselves friends.. Now I didn't call him a forking moron but the other guy in me did, why because I felt strongly about our purpose here, which is our diversity and willingness to share or general and practical experience! We are a mature bunch and a younger fellow getting into the sport can benefit from our hard earned ways, regardless of brand they ride! Patch

Lifter Cam Issue on my SVTC
Patch replied to StarVentureRider's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Not trying to claim I know what is going on but,,, the above suggests valve stem guides??? The other curious read is lifter not rotating/turning.. One thing I can think of that may cause both is stiction So the question is why? Now I know there are friction modifiers but again warranty may prevent there use,, look into the fine print.. Still even if it were this simple a problem why would they design so tight a tolerance? For the record if I were facing these problems I would likely use a modifier. -
Finding the ideal idle mixture
Patch replied to Vickersguy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OH YAH BRO! So first thing is atop for a moment and think thru what and why you feel somethin is up! PILOT... at 3.5 turns you are semi restricted, meaning they leak okish but...... That may change with a couple of hard rides and some conditioner??????? 1 3/4 is give or take ok, because ,,it is only the pilot we are discussing 2 1/2 is also okish or at least of little concern. YOU MUST FIRST READ COMPRESSION, then troubleshoot, or just think she's all in caus you don't know different. Patch -
You need to "de-stress your plastics"! I would fill you in on how but - I am jealous of our beard, so NO!
