Alright, I ended up being called in for surgery and had to prepare for it then recuperate, just didn't have the mindset to followup with this thread. I came across a video this morning that jarred a few memories from my past. If this stuff is of interest take a peak, I'll share a breakdown of what set me (and others like me that went thru similar starts) Now watch the Lion Heart as she scrambles to her feet. Is she the child's mother or assuming the responsibility?

Positive Crankcase Ventilation
Patch replied to Monsta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This club is certainly the best I have experienced in my time sharing over the net. New members such as yourself are a treat to us! We are a mature bunch with a diversity of experience aching to share our hard earned lessons. Thru the questions we stay sharper and reminded of our early days. Not always easy to understand the questions or the order in which they are presented sometimes but, only serves to make us dig deeper. In your case tho this was pretty easy as we knew what the compression numbers are; again this shapes our thinking. I can't stress enough the value of knowing engine compression, it shouldn't be viewed as a boogeyman. Remember how this thread started years back, one member expressing a fix for another. Agreeing or tweaking a thought should only serve to help refine and shape. I liked how you approached the problem however I do not equate the issue to your bike, know what I mean. There's lots that can be said about treehuggers: My Ont. friends can stipulate to the consequences of "acid rain" up in the Nickel belt. Dead forest as far as the eye could see. Still even to this day if you debark and walk some 50 feet past the newly planted vale of trees the tree graveyards remain standing. I showed my boys this some 10 years back. So these green naggers do force us to face facts while asking us to be a man and, find better ways.?! -
Positive Crankcase Ventilation

Funny "Grasshopper " was a thing between Puc and I some time back.... So I thought of writing out a painful memory I think the year was 1980 then nah I thought it still kind of hurts. Here is the basics on what happened: I owned a third of a car mod shop long time back. I was still travelling most of the year but I got to play when ever I landed in town so, I decided to resurrect a project car in a rush after booking a couple weeks off. Long story short I lost the oil cap on her first run down the H.W./ Smoke was just overwhelming in the car and out the back! I pulled over discovered the missing cap which also had the chrome vent top above the cap seal on a set of M/T Covers... Well there I am between there and nowhere eh so I stuffed a rag in the valve cover right down to the oil separation plate; makes sense right! 20 minutes later i began seeing smoke again, chit another 20 minutes I'll be on base so pushed on Pulled into the lot cut the engine ran to the front to lift the hood, as I unlatched it well she blew the top off the engine! (lucky I wasn't sitting above it) I have fooled with many kinds of engines and there just isn't a very good system when it comes to venting the crank fumes, yet it is a must. No I don't think venting fume to atmosphere is a good idea especially as in this case there is potential for ignition! I've been rereading the thread and seems to me not all the bases have been covered. Lets break it down: we know we can't have a closed crankcase but why? Expansion and the forces hat accompany it. So the root is expansion then. The expansion in a crankcase consists of hot gasses, fluids and of course the solids: as they heat up they displace everything that is present in the container/crankcase. If left uncontrolled they will overcome any lesser counter force of resistance such as seals, gaskets and the displacement of the pistons as they travel. So we design venting system that control these unwanted counter forces thru crankcase ventilation systems. Seems simple but is it? How many forces are at play? What are the dynamics that hinder consistent venting in a looped system? I am sure I will miss some items of cause but in general: first off there is no 99% efficiencies in any of the engine I've worked on or know of. Compression rings lockup where/when in the cycles? Are they locked up on the exhaust strokes? Which fluid must be replenished with every stroke, and where does it end up and, what does it carry with it? How many bikes are running overly fat jets? Depending on engine condition say good, a naturally aspirated motor is less than 70% efficient depending on RPM and as mentioned condition. The vent tube on these bikes is a dead rise with a S shape, oil droplets are heavier than vapor the droplets should reverse direction for both reasons. The vacuum as mentioned is low between a 1/4 to 1/2 pound so from where is the lift coming from? Or is there a dynamic at play with the vacuum? Well yes there is dynamic at play actually more than one. First consideration should be to test compression, the lower the number the more blowby there is. Next check for flooding which washes the walls reducing compression and collects in the crankcase. Now picture the case where you have flooding then making its way to the crankcase then venting out to atmosphere right by the engine and where you sit. Vacuum dynamics: so we are dealing with low vacuum as mentioned however all bets are off when the throttle is chopped. The oil rushes forward still being spun around by the crank, pistons are racing, ring are fluttering/oscillating blowby increases and the lift forces push while at its highest vacuum. Rapping up, yes mod if that is what is required but do so with follow thru, vent aft of the riders, or and better yet separate the fluids but burn what has yet to be burned. Remember motorcycles are not your fathers Buick they are meant to be pushed true but designed to be maintained. Well dat's all folks -

"Pic attached of what I just installed to capture oil and vent the crank case. The intake port @ the airbox, where the hose was attached, has been capped. This is on the left side of the bike, so aesthetically, my girl now has a good side and a less good side.... This was sorta proof of concept and now plan to see if it can somehow be at least partially hidden but still accessible enough to eventually drain any collected gunk. I think I will also paint the collector bottle black, save for a small window to watch the level of what's collected. That might make it disappear a little better." Well Bro as far as looks go But as for the rest, its a NO CAN DO nor should! Also possessive crank case venting is a term we still use but in fact that is not correct. We actually run a negative pressure crank case venting systems since the midish 80's... The way it reasons is that of a sealed crank case would develop so much positive pressure it could in theory stop stop a pistons down travel, in reality tho more like slow it! Worse yet is that it will blow oil throughout all the sealing gaskets. Taking it a bit further for you thrust of knowledge: Because we know your engine compression marks this mod now, is most likely not nessary, meaning your blowby must be at or very close to design expectations. Even if you hadn't of note which were like 5ish lbs. higher I could of bet which cylinders were higher than the others just by reading the plugs. So there you have it, too much or excessive oil in the box is one of 2 things, poor maintenance or, low compression reading! How ever and because I like the setup you fabricated I am forwarding you a cheat but first let me explain something: I am a theory guy, my kick is 4 stroke combustion, I rarely post specifics as relating to models. That said and to address your mod here is what I would consider as a viable correction: maintain the structure as shown above: insert one rubber reducer washer as used in plumbing fixtures such as shower heads.... Unstuff the vacuum port in the air box good to go! The low pressure is actually a know average say less than 4mbars so without that or say 0 the system is @ atmosphere, meaning you would lose every argument from every tree huger every every where you go.... You haven't kept up with your studies I see, think hydrocarbons -

It is possible as you say, I've not heard of any vaccine that claims a 100% score. From what we hear these days some have side effects and for some people its not recommended. That said me thinks we need to take the leap to move forward gain. In Canada the feds have been very helpful supporting the population including business of all sizes. But this is going to build a terrible debt burden. Before we know it their going to to bring in another G.S.T. which was originally brought to pay our debt back in 91...!!! Of course after paying it off they got to enjoy the general revenue so much that the gov decided to keep it on our behalf, yaknow like for a rainy day Come to think about it they do have a new tax "A Carbon Tax" but likely they'll think we won't equate it to what they already have so expecting a darker filter on intelligence soon

Your position is sound Spence conscience for lack of a better word when it comes to weapon sales don't seem to go hand in hand. It is a shame in what has been going on in Mexico for way too long. Here tho and in my experience it is not hard to buy a weapon off the street, it is hard tho to buy one legally. That is a major issue we feel here out west. In my case last year there was for a time more going on then I felt at my age I could keep up with; I wasn't shy in taking a position and truthfully the police were the best asset in being very responsive. But, the good news is that the more the thugs reacted the more the neighborhood began to realize regardless of color this is our neighborhood. One night and there were many, after gun fire I walk thru the lane ways to make sure there wasn't anyone left leaking to death. I was joined by a father and his son a Muslim family then a squad showed up he rolled by me saying "Mr. ... we know what's going on we got this" yes WE do I replied. On another occasion and in broad day I was less than polite with a family that had moved in; their aggressive behavior to anyone that appeared incapable and not looking like them rapidly became a big problem. As luck would have it I happened across a stickup, Loose was still alive and just a few steps away. Not often do I loose my cool but it happened that day! Really, hard to believe the words that spilled from my mouth but truly reflected how I felt, at the moment. And yes that family left fast. Many of us live in overly large cities, we loose the sense of community, walk with heads down, ignore what shouldn't be ignored, constantly saying "not my problem" until it is and then, you stand alone and why, "not my problem" has come back to bite. Even for among us that choose not to own a firearm, these eastern imposed regulations will only serve to show how different Western Canadians are from the rest of Canada. It demonstrates only that the good are thought to be incapable of making the correct decisions for themselves and, that we should only dial a number or stand aside or pray our address isn't on the nights menu. Whether or not I do have one is between me and myself but, try one of these "home invasions" (that seem to be the new kick) .... Now what's this next 4 year stuff? Man it takes us forever to get use to a new U.S. Peace Bro

Intelligent! The square design math has made sense to a bunch of us but certainly has brought forward some nasty disputes. Understanding heat expansion and lever is no more complicated then a plumbers pipe wrench choice really or size of crowbar. Anyways this guy is new to me and will be looking him up. Thanks for the post

" Here we all think Americans are stock piling, wrong..... " Last year for the first time in my later life I looked into getting one and even spoke with Puc for a recommendation to suit my needs. Your comment quoted is what I heard most often Spence and same for ammo. Here north of 49 the rumor was U guys were stock piling, was a little unnerving at the time to be honest.

You can also apply your heat sync experience to the compounding of the issue. Would you choose a passive or active cooling sync? We know greater mass for example will maintain a more even BTU exchange V. a lesser mass, then material densities, castings V. stamp will play an even greater role in conduction transfers... An example in transferring that understanding to engine combustion cooling would be Exhaust valve material and Piston Rings and there BTU conduction / heat transfer to the engine mass. You can relate that then to the design and capacity's of fluid flows! On this engine there are 2, one liquid one air both mapped out thru assumed operating cycles. Carbs V. injection: Well I have fun with both. Fuel injection still uses the same basic Stoichiometrics as carbs but with a different potential in the form of cheat sheets. Many of the older dyno guys are coming around to performance understandings thru hard numbers - on there tried and true American mule engines. Still today and when I peek into that world I see them still struggle with fluid flows and which of the 2 are producing these new to them numbers. But what most of us knew all the way back when we started was air filling has always been our biggest challenge on a naturally aspirated engine; the gas part is the easy stuff. So that's where injection hedges ahead of carbonation. The injection system permits us to concentrate on fluid flows separately. The gains there are enormous, low turbulence, multiple opportunities for Venturie's, bypassing of Venturie's @ or near WOT.... Just those 2 provide increase in acceleration / torque and top end outputs... And as we see today we are achieving more out of smaller displacements because of this freedom to manipulate the fluids individually. Carburetors on the other hand are much less complicated providing you accept there flow flaws. CV Carbs do appear to be complicated but not so, really. If we look at a CV (constant Velocity ) as an aperture Vs. a slide or piston and instead of light we view the opening as a fluid port or valve it begins to make sense then. This has more to do with air induction viewed as the fluid then the second ingredient (the combustible fluid) we tend to mistakenly focus on. CV carbs start at the air induction port or the front of the air box. The complete air chamber is calibrated to the engine performance range. Velocity is a critical calibration within these carb setups. This is where old school thinking messes up the newbe when it comes to CV Carbs. "more air - more air" NO not without velocity. Rapping it up, assuming the carb is correctly jetted and in popper operation, the CV Carb to use an old term (runs like a Cadillac) its strong quiet and reliable, provides smooth acceleration and limits over lean or over rich fueling. having some trouble with my english this morning hope this makes sense -

Once you proved the compression benchmark you also proved the issue. The overheating was according to your reporting of uneven combustion temperatures, this translates to lean V. rich! Lean was the issue. Today's way of expressing such a condition is "lambda" with an active fuel management system you can read the results just as easy as balancing your cheque book. I might suggest you quench this thrust by looking up the lamdba description on the web, its really simplified! You did well and really did learn a bunch -
"It's the one fault man has, his desire for more than what he was given and through that came all kinds of bad things: theft, greed, murder, adultery (and the spin-offs), and last but not least: disregard of the Creator." The first time I bumped into the above words I was still a young fellow trying to do the right thing and extend help to a young girl without parents. I remember well the evening I sat with a priest to begin the first step in becoming the girls godfather. That night spelt the end of my belief in the Catholic religion. To this day I still believe that that is not what is mans design. Even tho in any comparison to this priest I was a total ignorant uneducated spec of a man lacking in any knowledge outside of my ghetto environment; I could not bring myself to agree nor accept that believe much less repeat or pass on such thinking. Yet as you know of me Carl I have always believed in a Higher Power, that I have a destiny to serve others and, that I will be judge upon my return to The Gates. Being a French Canadian I need not say to a Dutch Canadian how Catholic the Quebec French were raised. Man is not sheep in my opinion that is and so must not be schooled to limit our potential. We must grow, we must accomplish, we must continue to evolve in order to accept that we have been created in the image of a greater power.... We assume to know when the 10 commandments were written but do we remember why, when or by whom the script around the commandments were written? Remember the reason after the Jews were freed for those to be then lost for 40 years left to wander the deserts. What happened as a result of those 40 years? My view and opinion is, in order for those words to play a role of greater shared relevance today we need to understand them as they were written in the time they were written; then apply them to all of the 40 year cycles that have expired since. Personally my experience with Christians that walk the talk has been humbling regardless of where they come from or the particular sect. The light they carry seems to me to be genuine. "If we could get rid of the desire for power, more than what we've been given, there could be peace in this world. " Another that I just don't seem to understand: if one has the power to hurt or make harm to others then it must be that the harmed individual also has the power to stand and reverse or counter, if it is as is said, we already have what was given and what we need. "So why the desire for more? Power!!" That is an easy one: because some need others to bring what they have to help us in times of need. "One day soon we will all be ruled by those who control all the wealth. Gonna be interesting how that all plays out." I do not believe that man is designed to be ruled. Lead yes. A ruler tends to strip our will to become more than we began life with. That may work for a while true but, a quick read thru history reminds us that tomorrow belongs to us if we choose to power up. Yaknow Carl you can ask me anything anytime but first I was wondering if Marca is free this Sunday? I suddenly have an urge to go to Church Not too long ago there was this nonsense going around about AIDS being god's will (remember) Then this little guy from N.Y. with big glasses began a to stir about the facts - claiming it was a virus.. Now at first some people tried to denounce him but he persisted and, some in power provided him with the means to follow thru and then, burdened him with a position of power. Can't quite remember his name a Dr. A. F....? Anyways last I heard he was back in the frying pan attempting to figure out this Covid 19 stuff. Think he's in his 80's? Now what drives a guy like that, why not just say I've done enough, let someone else take the disrespectful comments, threats and knocking around. Some people EH just have to give all they got. What a crazy year we have just come thru IMHO

WOW!! I guess I' will prove your words: tomorrow tho, a peek at the first page

Some time back I and a few here shared some of our younger days of experience as well as a bit of the results from such a start. And that some 30 odd years ago I wrote a book on my life growing up within such an environment. Most of my life I lived a promise of who and what or names of, would not be revealed.... All of those I knew and looked up too in those early days are gone; much of which happened after I broke free. Braking free was not something that can be easily put into words. Coloring the pictures of the events that took place is something on the first go around I was capable of doing after all, I was still angry, my hatred still pulsed thru my core I was absent of forgiveness. I need to make something very clear, I was never a part of the Mob as Puc eluded to some time back. I am a French Irish English mix. It is true tho there was a structure to the bunch that I grew up with. We were never obvious nor were we flashy nor were we trouble makers in any public sense of the word, it was not tolerated. For some time I have been asked to rewrite the book, "it may help others" I've heard many times. The truth as I have come to know it is that, while it may be an interesting read I do not believe it will instill the determination and willingness to fight thru the betrayals and the weak that pursue out numbering the one trying to make the change. A long long time ago I wrote these words "and betrayal an often jester" . I didn't have to stand alone I chose to. I did not lose faith nor did I find any new to me. I maintained my saints or became the devil as and when required that was simply the way it had to be and, it was never to me a sad story. I told my boys from the beginning "want to be a tough guy, put your boots on, meet your responsibilities be an honest man". Over the years I have had the opportunity to help others wanting to change their life, it’s just a conversation really on what they may need to accept and expect. Most wait too long and many are just confused or trying to run from a done deal. In my time and where I grew up there was no outside help. No law that would in any way be of assistance to me. I had to prove I could and would stand on my own, and that I was still the young guy that grew under their wing and, that my word was still worth believing. Why my word? I had an enemy and he had the ear of the big guy older guys that knew me. Here's the tricky part: a message showed up in the form of 2, in the dark and in a blind spot. I knew one too well the other likely a recent recruit with his right hand in his suede coat pocket ,5'9, buck 70, dark hair short reach 90* to the one I knew, less than a foot from his shoulder (armature)! The devil flashed and I was on them faster than a heart beat. Dealing with the one I knew first and using him to take down the armature I played my hand without mercy. I then turn my attention to the armature replying to the message then advised him to not trust the fellow he was there to protect ever "I've known him all my life like a father, he will, get you killed" . I did not trust the one I knew to give my answer to the big guy, the armature on the other hand would have no choice and someone would have to explain the condition of the other, and someone would then ask why the Kid would do that to you. And the big guy would then remind them of our agreement. Really not worth a book anymore is how I feel these days, the anger and hatred doesn't exist anymore, so there's no color to the memories, that would just be a boring read. On the other hand for those that would like some sharing of experiences of that kind of life I found these 2 channels. These 2 guys that have decided to share and worn the young away from such a life speak truth to what it truly is like, in my opinion. There was something Sammy said that I could relate to, the luck of the draw for that video showing up in my inbox is an understatement. These guys mean different things to different people; I see similarities to which I can relate. I was never them, never like them, I had zero money motivation, I was just trying to live within the hand I was dealt. I was fortunate to learn to think for myself young enough deciding that my life was mine to live my way. If you chose to watch or subscribe to their channels may I suggest if you chose to write comments, be mindful with your words, some crazies there in the comment section. You might need to past the links to their channels https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2qsQ8pUNhhANzMIy6kha2w/videos https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4xuh0pSLRLhzWGUnpOlvXw

My family caught the virus after my son and his GF cam back from Spain in February. Tho and at the time we were clueless of this fact my son was pretty ill with flue symptoms as was his GF. Here's what unfolded: As us older members know I met up with my age the second half of 2019. To help me cope I was given a medication that would reduce the effects of this new to me reality. After pulling thru the worst of it you may recalled I had talk with my boys where I explained in detail my first 25 years. I offered to train them as well (it was a very difficult thing for me to do as I had never laid a hand on them). So Ajay had an encounter while being a tourist in Spain and, he wanted to learn how to better counter that type of threat. We train at home in our basement but Ajay wasn't feeling well enough to travel over asking if Jake and I go to his place instead. Just the three of us went thru the steps on how to counter the attack. This type of counter was ahead of where I knew them to be at their level and keeping that in mind and at the end of the practice I explain a move somewhere down the road I would teach them... Well likes kids they had many reasons why I should show them NOW so they can practice. As clear as thunder Jake snaps my 3rd rib down from the clavicle! One thing I have had to relearn to do this past year and half is breath differently. I have a problem with my diagram which prevents me from exhaling efficiently, my lungs are also way too large as well as scared. I have been learning to use my upper stomach muscles to assist in exhaling. A week later I came down with the C19 symptoms. I had the whole 9 yards of course I figured I caught Ajay's flue, what else could it be? Between the broken rib and my normal breathing issues my lungs were beginning to bubble with each breath and I figured I was getting my first new case of pneumonia in 18 years so I began using a medication I had been given for keeping the lungs clear. The reason I had stopped using it was the steroids were causing me digestive problems. Before long I was able to clear my lungs with just a light cough. But this flue stuff was nagging at me in the seance that it would get better then seem to start again. Finally one day I began feeling better but I'd be up for a few minutes then become totally exhausted, this just went on and on. Dam what the heck is going on, Ajay and Jake were over it, tho Ajay's GF was going thru the same type of fatigue stuff? Worst of all came later on, confusion, it was so spooky for me! I couldn't focus on anything, couldn't read a full paragraph of anything, it got to the point I went to see the dock and went thru the testing for dementia and alzheimer's as well as a new series of blood tests. Also tested for C19 but lets face it this was months after so that test doesn't tell us if we have the antibodies. A couple of things were found tho, one was to high levels of calcium which lead to more tests. In the end I had to get back to my plus 50 Vitamins which includes the D. Another unknown in my case was could these meds I was on causing these symptoms, at the time I had dropped the dose down on the one that helps me maintain control between my healthy heart and problematic lungs from competing against each other. This little experience of my encounter with C19 points to what they have been saying, "we don't yet know enough" "extenuating circumstances" and theres more, my vitamin before passing 50 and switching to the 50 + I've been taking them since my early 20's with good results but, if I take them with my primary med, the effect is dramatic regardless to what the dock and pharmacist tell me, instead I found the answer on the MFG website, wait do not take this med with any other combination. I hope you see why I tied this all together as I did, we are all fingerprints unique onto our self's. The masks reduce the rick of body fluids becoming suspended in the air from leaving our mouth to be then inhaled by others, coughing and sneezing well that requires distance and cleanliness and a touch of respect.
