Don't despair we seen this many times and I have had success with this approach. Burnt valves would be a much lower result than 90. What are the rear numbers? Follow the link below Patch https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?137296-A-Case-for-Fogging&highlight=case+fogging -

Nope! likely hydraulic lines need replacing or old fluid remained in the system. -
My first thought and 1st hand experience: Cap Vent. But while you foolin with it you may as well change the crush washers, you just take one to the local parts store and match it up, need 2 or 4 if you choose to do the bottom end. Patch

Tough question to answer? When I get the itch I simply pick a compass point then head off, I don't do rallies, drinking and parties, just not my thing. I am not one that enjoys the major highways for long distances, I like to roam in and thru small towns, maybe do some people watching off a park bench, taking my time to get a feel for the lay of the land thinking often who how and why the town came to be settled, I can study an old post office building or town hall for hours; I'm sure people must think me strange. When weather is good I like to pitch tent, like to be near shore lines. I get a big kick out of watching young families spending time playing ball or those little somethins moms and dads do in parks and markets local to them; as far back as the late 70's I've always found that to be pleasant moments. Then there are days I ride like my tires need burning, never sure what I'm chasing other than time itself;) for those rides nothing does it quite like Norther Ontario for me, 17 all the way. I like a map for those rides a GPS just don't cut it; and I keep a log of the days, places and some numbers of the new friends I meet tho I never call em up. I guess Cha it really depends on the mood you find yourself in before heading out. A long ride has a grand plan but not a defendant plan; really riding on a heading just seems to evolve as the adventure unfolds. And one thing for certain in my case I need easy riding days mixed into those time chasing days or, I get a touch reckless as I tend to ride alone there's only myself to discipline my pace;) know what I mean Cha?

Air ride problems
Patch replied to JimboSlice's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just a thought, when mine did so and I were to wiggle the connector, many times it would work,,, till next time. Don't know about the new boards, if the problem was rectified but I ended up re soldering my board and that solved the problem temperamentally. You should also check the air filter and the dryer under the seat and trunk, if they are clogged that too will cause the e2. There is a pretty good section in the serv. manual page 7-104 Patch -
Using my word pro for this post, sorry about the OP, I had visitors drop by while writing it and didn’t proof before posting… Whatever the sudden need for X’s and the boys popping in over the weekend was, it was nice to catch up. My youngest expressed his opinion on global warming late Saturday night. I was struck by his comments and darkness over this issue/topic! So surprise these words leaped off my tongue “ have your really lost faith in your fellow man Jake” Jake’s view expressed as in the next 30 years struck hard! Personally I cannot see any point to my being around them years down the road but, to hear such from youth disturbs me deeply! Where is our “Can Do” attitude? We have accomplished so much over the last millennium how is it that we allow the doom preachers to ride shotgun over us? I want to ask of these preachers of doom and gloom to show me the math, show me the graphs, explain when it all began, how I contributed too, and how can man correct our contributions to what the real knit to this warming cycle is. Remember science facts: don’t eat eggs, butter, oh and Bata Carotene; the earth was once covered in ice, then oceans, and prehistoric monsters, then came the meteors and at some point a great flood, none of were man made except when science got it wrong that is; and after pushing us to believe 1st then disbelieve. Bill Nye Talk to me like a thinking man or just evap, would rather you stop spreading fear through our grandchildren to get to us, man up or fork off. Man throughout our existence has asked the 3 W’s and my opinion is that we need to ask at every opportunity for the facts and that they be spelled out and in order for us to consume and therefore reason over. Really I think the only way forward is to understand the facts I’m too long in the tooth to listen to hysterics and propaganda. A bit of a long article but worth the read. Here in Calgary things have improved but that just takes a shift in the wind. This is our common saying in these part: “if you don’t like the weather at the moment, just wait 10 minutes;)) In this article we see some man made mistakes so I expect change and will write our Premiers office looking for change. Yes I agree man has not always showed honor when viewed thru the eyes of history; but that applies to all mankind in my opinion. Honor sets example for the next time, it is in my mind the core root to judgement then levied against a people and is again my opinion how history weighs any cost attached to a judgement. Agreements and treaties need to be respected as the best compromise available at the time of signing. There should be room for change though; when any one people is overly suppressed thru treaty or judgement the cycle just flares again. Could we use the treaty of Versailes as an example... ? Second guessing what our forefathers could of should of if only would of is in fact the price we pay today, and is what I taught my boys "make right your wrongs". Anyways think we've strayed off topic and you know Dad is goin to kick down the door and make us sleep on the porch, again):

My thinking has been that they unlike Western EU settlers lived with the lands, not simply on the land.

Well over the last couple of days Calgary has been quickly filling with smoke. Last night late midnightish I was driving thru the city, struck by the shading from the street lights similar to what we sea in coastal fog conditions but without the highlight of light reflecting off water molecules... Today here and according to the weather network Calgary is a 10+ on the air quality scale highlighted in red. I looked into the latest news on wildfires (Alberta Wild Fire Serv.) something like 29 fires almost 500,000 (ha)

HISTORICAL DATA TO DATE

Total Fires Total Area Burnt (ha)

Forest Protection Area (Wildfire Data Only) 2019 522 497,648.10

5 Year Average 569 135,607.13

Mutual Aid 2019 9 381.77

5 Year Average 24 1,252.82

https://wildfire.alberta.ca/reports/sitrep.html the full sheet can be found here. Don't know how many know this but 58% of Alberta is Boreal Forest. Calgary is a valley so yes we can get some odd weather currents, heat, cold, wet, dry and smoke can linger often causing activation of the Grumpy Switch;) But more importantly what is going on? Can't we bring back or turn back time? No but not because the planet is becoming warmer more like because this all started long before man knew how to measure carbon (I've heard that we actually still can't measure atmospheric carbon content)and its global effects. I doubt that I am the only one among us to make this connection and I am not disputing science: as all the facts remain unknown so not tallied and that is best left to the scientist to argue through. After all that is what we pay them to do; offer us up reasonable explanations that will guide us not confuse us! These fires will spread smoke well past territorial lines in the sands after all, Mother Nature knows no boundaries when she decides it time to school or remind us of her absolute rule. The Boreal Forest need fire for balance, when we settle near or in them we get in the way. The thinking man becomes entwined reacting to his impulses on what he perceives as destruction instead of renewal -as - was and remains one of this planets intended life cycles long before man. What if (changing the subject) we cap the volcanoes? Surely some among us can see a benefit to reduced ash, expansion of island displacing sea water raising shore levels, fire and the carnage left by the lava flows. So does plugging the vents make sense? How about rivers? Can we loop them maybe not entirely cutting out their flows into the Our Oceans we could at least reduce their contributions to rising Sea levels? Maybe some good global work projects could come from such Man over Mother Nature decisions? Of course we would need to form Global committees, we would have to keep Mother off the Committee Board of Directors cause as we know She's set in Her ways;) Looking into these fires I found this below. What gets me is that we claim to manage our forestry yet, we as in man panic under management leadership when their mismanagement of our forestry catches fire and then;;; management becomes the first voice out of the gate to lay blame at Mans feet - under the title of Man Made Global Warming! Man is as man does, so it is in all respects the fault of Man, seriously? Is electric cars mans best answer? What is the point of study if all we can do or come up with is Global Warming caused by man...? If you believe in the Good Book then there must be a grand plan and a way ahead? If you believe in Science then we must believe that man is working to develop a path forward better than the patch we've been on, as it relates to our partnership with Mother Nature. Not sure if you folks read this as a rant or a means to a discussion; but I do hope that we collectively can bring objective debate to this tendency of man blaming man without factual representation. https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/forests/boreal/17394 6. The boreal forest isn’t “ancient” wildernessCanada’s boreal forest is often portrayed as one vast tract of ancient, pristine wilderness but this isn’t the case. Although the boreal region itself is ancient, the boreal forest: is made up mostly of trees that are relatively young compared with many that grow in more temperate climates is regularly affected by forest fire, insects and other natural disturbances continually renews itself through these natural disturbances Read more: “Is Canada's boreal forest ancient? ” 7. Forest fires, insects and diseases help the boreal forest The boreal forest needs natural disturbances such as forest fires and outbreaks of insects and disease. These disturbances: remove aged trees from the forest expose the land to sunlight again allow the next group of trees to germinate and grow into a new forest release nutrients from the trees Learn more about natural disturbances in our forests.

And I hear the Ladies are friendly too! Now with any luck Marcarl will stay busy between rallies and Ontario college girls so that a lonely French Canadian may have a chance at snagging some company;) Like I never knew Dutchmen were such girl magnets Nicest comment I've ever heard about FortMac I'll pass it along;)

also going to point out there was a good bit of fuel in the oil, so I'm thinking/hoping/praying thatthe cylinder that was causing the hot pipe wasn't lubricated correctly. Guess we'll see. "It had great compression btw. That in and of its self means nothing, you cannot have great compression if your valves are not seating! Posting your results would have provided the answers to what is going on and how to correct it, additional carbon ware. Think about it: you maybe running your rings out of round, and you may be scoring the wall (s) with carbon every cycle; all on an engine that is almost brand spanking new. I have to ask how much water should the OP be using per cycle per cylinder? Water form of delivery system is a COKE BOTTLE on a direct mounted carb? You do realize there is NO HOT PLENUM between the intake and the top of the piston right? When that LIQUID gets between the piston and the combustion chamber it spells foolish game over permanently. -

Sorry doesn't add up! Only 11000 miles, slip on's likely suggests according to marketing gurus fatter jets all around, that can lead to 4 high carbon jugs, so why only 2? I assume your front jugs are standard readings so not low, not high? Because you mentioned valves" not seating" then I assume your rear jugs are low from carbon buildup, the opposite to what most would expect to conclude and all withing 11000 miles? No sir this don't add correctly! Your bike, your opinion, your money, I hope it all works out for you. Patch -

Thought I'd mention this often overlooked safety tip I heard while listing to a troubleshooting lecture/seminar. "Glove UP" the speaker said then paused and explained that he wasn't a smoker drinker.... but had to have a Liver transplant! A mechanic by trade he explained that his Liver was destroyed by the chems he had absorbed thru his hands. Chems like brake, carb cleaner and of course parts washer and oils... Myself I have had COPD most of my life and of course also a smoker but I have always been a filter guy; I ware masks at for, sweep shop or site floors, cutting materials... Have all kind of hepa stuff in many different sizes. Some time back I think it was 2011 I began feeling a strange sensation, best described as my tongue felt like a foreign object, loss of tasted and seemed always dry. Turned out that I had what many of us get past 40 "a lazy Liver". Now at that time I had not had say more then one beer in a dozen years so not drinking related, rather it was my hobby and the chems I was using that likely brought my toxin levels up. Anyways thought I'd share this and perhaps us old timers might conciser adding "glove up" to suggestions of harsh chems.. One oil I can't get near since as far back as I can remember,,, used gear oils, make my skin crawl and cut my breathing..

Page 6-25 bottom right hand corner item one. There are different styles of crush washers, some are ringed or have circle ridges, some, the washer its self crushes, those fill the casting pours. At only 18 lbs trq. it is wise to replace the washers when the castings are old and pitted or they wont crush enough to seal 2nd/3rd 4th time around. The reason I mentioned it was on an 86, SK was having a clutch issue I was busy and asked my boy to bleed it for him. He mentioned that he thought there to be a problem, later I went to bleed it and heard a wooshing (sorry don't know the spelling) sound then noticed one of the 2 washers was missing! Not easy to spot down there. Regarding what Rdawson mentioned the honing needs to be done in a circular motion while moving the hone tool in and out, it must not have any parallel to the bore lines! The stiffer the clutch springs the more back pressure on the hydraulic fluid, the more chance of leak. -

You can pull the carbs for maintenance but to do so without a compression test is the same as asking why a dog chases its tail! Note the jet numbers as well on a slip and keep it with your manual. Before reinstalling the carbs share your pressure results. Carbs off is the best time to test compression. -

Two things I do, fill the reservoir, crack the bleed on the housing, wait 30 minutes. For filling an empty system I use a vacuum pump. So a question, you replaced the rubber bits, did you replace all the crush washers at each banjo?
