  1. Ok but bring your black book, K! Remember the song, You Can Keep Your Hat On.... I'd deferentially switch out the hat for the BOOTS
  2. I've done only the suzuki drives but the pinon will kick splash to the open bearing of the output... That's all it needs,,, providing the pan is back on;)
  3. Oh YAH Baby! My desktop Photo... I tell those that see it "Dat's My Mama...lol
  4. Must be a Canadian thing? My thoughts exactly! Or thinking about that story Carl started telling us about The Lady in black leathers, the party and the "somethin" that happened behind the... Well maybe he told others too and , maybe is why she seemed to rush past and get to her hubby?? hmm hmm Just a thought;)
  5. Wow you guys are a tough bunch! Its kinda of like being in a room full of bikers and X-military with Paint It Black playin in the background The reason I mentioned nightmares is because that is one answer I do have and I do remember sharing that once before with a member. Face them head on, takes a while but it did work for me and others... Try to hold a piece of the waking moment each reoccurring time then build on it till it jars the memory; then face it.
  6. Time for a pivot and some weekend reading.. I was hoping to post this last Sunday in reply to Casey but ran out of time. There are some interesting points that I know most will just gloss over so I am including a second link to explain the quote below. Also and in an effort to continue to tie my %’s and volume into our basic understanding of combustion, I’d like to remind us that every move or growth in combustion has to do with total swept volume per full crank cycle/revolution. Meaning in this case percentage of efficacy is high at all times due to this new approach of shared components reducing lag throughout! While total displacement remains typical total swept volume potential here is why I find this new technology is cutting edge IMHO. Right Puc Note the alternator description https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a19479730/nine-things-you-must-know-about-the-new-mercedes-inline-six/ “To keep the engine length under control, the M256 has gone to undersquare bore and stroke dimensions of….” Worth the time to read. There are also a couple of comments below the last as I recall answeres its self in contraction but that forum life. https://mechanics.stackexchange.com/questions/24902/what-does-under-square-and-over-square-mean
  7. And There Thru The Grace Of A Good Woman Go I. A couple of things: The book if published has no answers. It is the story of wrongs made right. Also there was no time for vengeance. There was however many moments of planning, turning my teachings to match their moves then to get a step or two ahead of them! I sought only peace for my family and then for myself! And so I set some ground rules and when necessary I dish out more than I absorbed. So what I know for sure is, if you can say the above without reliving the memories that brought you to the moments leading to change, without anger or regret then you have succeeded; accept that! You are the better man because the challenge you faced is now accomplished tho, I don't believe that it ever becomes static: nor do I think it need be or should be. That decision is yours alone! In my case I can say that even when overwhelmed I never allowed fear or the moment get the better of me passed the age of 15; in other words, I knew self control was my best weapon! Maybe others will share as well? I am most interested for those of us.... in knowing how y'all dealt with that side effect of nightmares?
  8. Maybe I should but, there's always a but; the first book was me just after, everything was still real, the book was completely honest moment to moment play by play. In fact in some ways it was recolonization that, that life was over! It was time to find a new pace, a new way of processing each day! I was still the young man that was shaped by those first 25 years. Somehow I had to learn to trust, I had to accept attachments, I still had to learn to close my eyes and rest "without my boots on" Rest was the hardest for me in fact it wasn't till 05 that I learned to sleep without all the shutdown precautions.... So recently while having breakfast in a small town I encounter a someone... I'll share that with you soon bpate4home but today I have some maintenance scheduled with the Doc.. adios
  9. thanks Sylvester! Funny thing is I felt a lot of shame younger... Then one day I changed, tho it wasn't uncommon for those that knew me to say I snapped. Whatever it was and without support I found my way; developed better use for my 1 or 2 talents. Again from the prefix: "I would like to thank all those that shaped the man I have grown to be and that must include all, to the bad I say I have no hatred left to keep you alive, to the good there are not words worthy enough that may express how important a role you played; regardless of the time we shared." Seems like a faded dream now;)
  10. Yep! Funny GUY Last weekend my youngest and I were chatting about life in general, some of the topics was of course what we all go thru at his age... Letting life unfold is easy enough to say but getting a young man to understand it is of course a challenge. He is a gifted kid with a gpa just shy of 4. He also has my bug for writing. By the time I was 28 I had completed a book of more than 500 pages, took close to 2 years to write; of course before word processing,,,, you can imagine the spelling perplexities lol.. Anyway I destroyed the book one new years as my friend and I read it, his street name was "three tongues" and so we slipped each page into the fireplace! Over the decades I continued to distance myself from the first life I new keeping the experiences to myself, tho the kids heard roomers, none from me. One night during a dinner party years back some close friends had urged me to start writing again saying that my experience may help others.. That night alone and late I wrote a poem then a short version of the book; easy these days with Word, although I must jokingly mention that M.S. sent me a question asking if or why I formed my sentences as I did "was I writing poetry" lets not get upset, at the time I had agreed to share bits and pieces for development purposes! Anyways my boy asked if he could co write the story character with me and I agreed. So Tramp/Bum the result of your facetiousness is 2 short passages written to be read fast: Tell us about the gangsters and the mad man that fathered you ////////////////////... Please write some more we need more find another door we need to explore just one more door No one takes me there as when you open those doors it’s true we really want to read more So unlock another door let us peek past into a difficult past that is rightfully yours- please share one more Patches oh Patches how can you pause when we beg to feel more of those years you deplore Patches oh Patches please don’t say you won’t share anymore The end 10/01/12 inspired by Lally from the 2nd book prefix: When the noises in your head become bearable, sleep is no longer a fear, when the sudden movement of a stranger extending his arm pointing to his wrist is no longer perceived as an immediate threat; when the scent around you no longer causes you to bead with sweat; then no longer does the ghetto control your fate, you are free to make your own statements and choices; not based on which punishment awaits you. Now free to live without fear, anger and hatred. You have survived them, free to live as you choose one moment at a time; and, you will grow; stronger than most now you’ll be fine! But remember; always keep the door to those memories, well locked shut! 01/2012 Patch

    Bummer

Way too funny As I've mention in past posts I had an encounter with a misplaced fire hydrant lots of years ago. A couple years back my knee just started kicking out without warning when turning to my left, my shin and all attached would head outward away from the direction of my thigh. I went to my chiro and started laser and ultrasound treatments. By the fourth one I began feeling the effort was paying off and after 6 my leg staid firm, 2 more treatments and at least 3 years later all is still well other than the meniscus which from time to time starts up; which he said could also be treated. Here in AB the cost came in at $840. with no down time! Come to think of it now, I also had these treatments on my elbow in 06ish still holding up fine.
  12. Logged on to answer your post but like magic it has disappeared. Puc shared the obvious problem. This engine won't take advantage of this purposed setup, the rpms will still be low. But even if it could I would express doubts around velocity. The idea of larger carbs is about volume but volume without velocity will not perform well, especially at low rpm for that you'd likely be better off with CV carbs! The ideal for what you mentioned as reasons would port injection. The next would be the shorties you mentioned and what I call direct slide. Personally I wouldn't go higher than 32mm. Tho I know some have gone to 36mm. Now if you went with a 4 pack linkage would be a challenge but doable. Then I would likely shape a radios to form the intake tubing and at a right angle to pods or a basket filter that would take 2 jugs like the old sportsters I think: you'll need to draw air from outside the V. Now lets take a quick look at why the majority of conversion aren't working well : It is really quite simple, they can't handle the volume at higher rpms. Always bare in mind that vacuum pressure fluctuates due to cam lobe lift and duration as well at throttle plate angles; what doesn't change is the port geometry, it is the same throughout weather its been modified or not. The ports have velocity tricks designed into them which takes some understanding of fluid dynamics to understand what is going on and why. If as in the cases I have seen, we over accelerate the air at the top of the carb then, not only do you choke the flow but you end up with to much bounce pressures or pulse waves which have no place to go but back up! That happens at the end of every lobe duration "the slamming of the intake valve"! If your carb bore is to large then your volume potential goes up but velocity drops off! So we see and hear the experiments start well but, as they approach 1/4 throttle the rpms first seem to tighten up then begins to slow the climb, that can be referred to as resistance or drag; where does that come from? Well the answer is in the other thread I linked to:) Food for thought
  13. Have you read thru this thread by Du-Ron? There is quit a bit of theory around intake sequencing and effects. Note: I just reread that post and correct it (I hope) Man I can't wait for Flyingfool to finish the escape dish project in the basement Tho I'm not convinced we can launch from down there but, Jeff probably has a secret he hasn't share yet; like maybe the house is hinged? Then he'll build my new intergalactic translator! Right Jeff, you did reserve a seat for me right? https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?143040-Electric-Digital-Computerized-Throttle-Body-Sync&p=1073237#post1073237
  14. The setup above is not a "both" type of setup. I would however like to know what the specs are on the "custom intake"? Now if you read thru our posts that cover these conversions then you have read that you can not overlook the physics of volumes and velocity. The 1st problem I foresee is the flow stall after the T.plate: you must take into consideration port design! You are at the moment viewing the engine as a set of twins; but it is not the case: think about it and break it down into share components! I can go deeper into this if you want, but for this post let me ask of you this: How will you know if both inputs are equal thru the complete range? At the moment I can only see a dyno tune for measuring total achievable output!? And I'm still holding back on the obvious.... However I like the nature of the thought, likely I'll chew on it a bit more;)
  15. How do you plan to use or ride the bike? Short or long haul?
  16. I have zero argument with your selection and comments! And yes MB screwed the pooch in 02 thru to mid 04 but, the suspension of the S class can bring home a big bargain providing there are no canbus issues! I still prefer a sleeper look and feel to what I drive personally, in other words I still enjoy the 4 door; after all I am single, often in rush between dates so: easy access to the back is how to say in english, useful! lol About the German builds, I agree it is hard to consider leaving them especially after tooling up for them and; learning how simple there connection parts go together taking them apart for the 1st time tho usually means breaking somethin unnecessarily ):
  17. I have been looking for an easy to me project to get myself back into the shop for about a month now. 2 came up a Bimmer and a Benze. I know benze fairly well, have a good understanding of the systems. I don't know bimmer very well but like what I've heard about "driver experience" I prefer the 7 series late 90's but have taken a liking to the newer 7's as well, maybe a sucker for punishment I guess. The one that came up is a 545i with trans slipping,,, you know the arrogance around life time oil. After watching this tear down tho, I think I'll pass https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQBPH8MF6N0
  18. Congratulations Spence on your anniversary! Sometimes I make it all the way to 30 days;)
  19. Sometimes I do special projects, some of you may remember a post I did couple years back about a ghetto I took charge of for an investment group. So I was asked to get involved in a personal situation for a very good family friend of ours. Tho I was still in recuperation at the time the need was urgent and I agreed. Now our national force had this town buttoned up looking for any signs of this headache that had plagued them for many years, no sooner than my truck pulled into/onto the drive a patrol car drove by noting my plate. I had asked one tough tradesman to join me out there figuring he wouldn't get spooked. Turned out tho that every time he went to town he was pulled over. So a bit of a hassle for him, now it being a small town it wasn't long before they knew why he was there and the heat cooled for him. What's my correlation as pertaining to this thread; well I am betting some of us already know where I'm going with the above. It is seeming like to this old fellow very much like having a record! my thoughts anyways How can anyone not like cats? I agree with the router but, I notice that private viewing "no cookies" makes a difference.
  20. Personalty I believe that privacy should be a conscious fact of every day life, now. I manage to find something out a couple months back that I really did not want to know about another person and, I wasn't looking for the information in fact, I felt it none of my business at the time. However the other not knowing I knew caused a rather big riff between myself and the other party they thinking I had probed! I am not on FB at the moment, I see no advantage. I also do not like to travel much outside of Canada but I hear often of people posting during their vacations; I wonder if I am the one that lives in a bubble or those that do it. I bought a Blackberry like 6 months back. You can say what you want about them but they remain a tough nut to F**** with and they manage the updates. I just feel better about it, tho it could be easier to use. So I answered a post here about blades, now my Utube home page is packed with blade videos, how?? because I swear to yo'll I never looked any up anywhere but here and only that one I engaged in. I have since "not interested" the recommendations and expect them to stop BUT, and, as I mentioned for myself, it was a part of my life I left behind (not easily) decades ago. Meaning, I try not to regain the interest in say "that sport/hobby". Anyways little things build up after a while and perhaps the answer is to learn to be more chameleon than up frontish Hmm
  21. I'll share this and likely many here already know. I wasn't a fancy blade guy I liked what I knew fit my needs when it came to my fabs. Later when I began carvings I began make a verity of chisels; I used spring steel which was easily available in size and thickness from leaf springs cutoffs at our local suspension shop in MTL. That may help some get started in the hobby.
  22. Still and if the rear is apart as you mention, I would run the engine place in gear say 2nd, release the clutch and prove it stalls with all the rest of the drive off. In my experience when a bearing seizes it should be blue. Both the shaft and bearing are tempered during manufacturing. Now if the unit is seized then consider the last ride a horseshoe or a 4 leaf clover I bet Kevin has a Yam bulletin if yam put one out?
  23. Found this in my home page, may some will enjoy
  24. I think I evened the score on his horse thread;)
  25. I was on a ranch late fall, the fellow there is a horse trainer with a solid reputation. I got to see him work with a young one he was training for a lady. I could of sworn that he was talking to the horse, judging by the way the horse was looking at him thru her right eye made me wonder how? His dog sat watching the whole thing as tho it knew exactly what was going on. When he broke distance with the horse by taking a step back it reminded me of coming out of a meditation. With people what I noticed about this fellow was there were two of him, one full of disrespect and the other that greeted with country hospitality. Just goes to show, you never know what to expect from horse people, seems like they are very much like there pets just step on toes when ever or where ever the opportunity presents. Just kidding saddlebum... Even with eastern time wake up, you are still not up early enough
