  1. I have 3 encounters with moose up in N.O. around the dam area. Those encounters were very very aggressive. There were many stories back in the day when I lived between oceans that were told at the long gone now truck stops about moose encounters. But what strikes me about the video was the second wolf seen on the tracks. I guess it was a female likely a sister? Certainly not as stupid as the sibling!
  2. There would have to be a strong reason to keep the old wiring harness, for me. You still need a new fuse box so the point of the existing harness is? And when its damp and doesn't want to fire up, where do you begin to look? Kicking a bike to start calls for a solid crushing spark! Ask any one of us that start with the British ones
  3. Speaking with my uncle before he passed I mentioned I was riding again. I spoke of my last run to MTL, my broken foot, taping up and continuing on. Mentioned the 07 november ride the snow and ice, being blown of the highway... I said I still do it to prove if only to myself that I still can and to face the challenge each long fetch of a quart of milk brings! But I also do it to find myself, its the solitude of being out there just me and my machine. I'd be careful of admitting to #8 tho, some doors slam hard
  4. As I've mentioned I once found a misplaced fire hydrant, since I have had to deal with and maintain my back on a regular bases. The start of your explanation reminds me of a sync problem and compression issues Don. I go thru this with my left leg not too often but often enough. Now it shifts at times to my right leg. The skating is likely what cause the chain of events. When I am following my regime my pelvis is steady, if I get laid up for a while my pelvis shifts and the problems start again. In my case a couple trips to the chiro while I restart my regime is how I deal with.. Its really not hard to rebuild the stabilizers, scissors with a tension band around the knees laying on your side start with 5 reps... In my early years of training Don we were taught strike locations to immobilize, this sounds very much like what you describe after hitting your head. There is an inexpensive leg machine called Leg Magic, most guest will try mine and not last 15 sec.. their mind can't seem to sync to the motion!? I am on my second unit as I wore thru the first. If you stick with it and just after a week, you will begin to see and feel a difference! I can also include that the first few times there seems to be a motion sick feeling with beginners, can't say why tho. And of course Don you need speak to the Doc. Listen we all get periods when the battles are larger than one man. Respect for our age is kind of like accepting how we got here.... Of course easy for me to say, still in my 40's
  5. Take the blues Don and turn them into a song. Congrats Mike Anyway you have a PM weekend to plan;)
  6. Reminds me of an old Canadian expression: HE SHOOTS _ HE SCORES:canada:AND THAT IS WHY THEY CALL HIM THE HAMMER Prairiehammer Its worth remembering that crankcase vapor is explosive.
  7. Sealer is not required other than perhaps a dab to hold the gaskets in place. I usually place a thin layer around o-rings of silicone grease tho it is not called for. The sizing should be a match to the original in all cases or you can crack the cast housing.
  8. A very nice video clip of Northern Ontario
  9. Just one big happy family!
  10. It took me quit a bit of convincing to buy the 350 6 lt 03/04 but I'll tell you I've been very happy with it. The trick is to get one that is stock, filters and exhaust. The only upgrades I did was rebuilt 901 injectors and 4 pin ficm, all readily available. When you check mileage you can knock off 100k as Ford had to rebuild them, mine is pushing 400k and still exceeds stock output numbers.
  11. It is nice to see you post Yama Mama drop in more often, please;)
  12. Could be or Dad & Uncle Carl were napping? Most people just get to the point. Puc and I ramble lots; have our reasons tho, its about getting past the nonstick surfaces! Puc tho being the forum fav gets away with it, me not so much. I don't take it personal tho after all Puc is several miles older than me If you think there's a problem with a post then reach out to freebird or marcarl, or pm Puc or myself and we'll ramble for you! enjoyed your thread, you did well
  13. Twice I stepped into conversions one I regret the memory of was the Vega... I really enjoyed my Mopar days and of course Fords.. Those were the days! A couples of wires, the rest of the coin was all about 10/11 seconds worth or, as close as possible hmm
  14. I haven't been able to handle the bikes since early 18 and sold my venture. Seems like I have been in repetitive repair mode since ): I miss the packing of it the night before and heading off at day break. Always nice heading the opposite way to traffic;)
  15. Well said! OK share the tease?
  16. As I mention the prefix "stronger than most" I know this to be fact not wishful thinking. A long time ago I heard these words "there is no more a Jew than he who chooses to be a Jew" those words still ring in my thoughts. I relate to it because its meaning to me was and is about the choices we make then commit to. I think as I rethink thru your post you have said a lot that I can build on; and yes I can see why you "can relate". There is a pic of me as a boy kicking around I'll see if I can find it, it speaks a thousand words of my early days. Now without divulging too much I can say that the courts stepped in and mandated correction periods all before the age of 15. But the hills grew taller before me and, I grew torn between what I had to do, what I was seeded with, and what I rather do. I was born into it. In a story I wrote "a coward was launched into the world and the unknown" well maybe that was true early in but, that like all else changed. We all stem from two seeds, in my case there was one strong good seed and one not. I know the good seed has been my dominant but the bad seed still lives within. Every day I face this knowingly and, acceptingly in fact - I don't want to loose it! Let me share this very personal problem, doing so because you shared bravely: when I am prepped for surgery they have to prep for me, I have to surrender my control, and so precautions need to be taken. It is not a temper problem, it is a result of my first 25...! I am not you but I too believed what I was told that "I had a bad temper" but is not the case, I maintain control, the explosive reaction is only when threatened. And, it does not have to be me that is threatened. I can't explain how it works within but I was videoed stopping a rape, viewed by police then interviewed and then resumed my day. It was clear that I was in complete control! So, I have training and until 2 years ago I kept it as I kept everything to myself. Here's where 2 parallels meet; I would never allow my boys to display temper; they were going to break the inherited cycle, period as I had to. Today I remind them to take the best of me and leave the rest to me. Think about it. If I may make another point (sorry coach) you are incorrect in regards to comparing military service to what I think I know you experienced. The street has its evals the military has rules and consequences and,,, now at least a platform to help; it may and seems to be insufficient but people think they understand tho, PTSD is so personal so fingerprint unique that it is simply a solitude, too variable to paint a clear personal picture of, yet, it can be managed! For others say like us there is no reset point which will correct a corrupted youth! We then have to accept and accentuate our positive out comes, and our good strengths because, a temper is our responsibility to control by not ignoring but confirming the triggers, and stopping others from pulling them, period. The vets have a lot to share but often choose not to You can pm any time
  17. Right!
  18. OH Brother! Mama was trying to have a serious family conversation and just look what Happens! Both of you picking on the adopted French child! I hope Mama warms the whip on you's first before my turn.
  19. Well Carl what the heck? I can't figure if that is a complement or, we meet at the bicycle rack?
  20. OK Mama just to show I am paying attention (Bum and Carl are really the daydreamers) I am going be prove I am paying VERY CLOSE Attention, and answer, studiously Now lets see if marcarl and saddlebum have been paying attention:wow:
  21. Good point Carl, though there must be enough to float the journals. It bugs me some that there isn't even a reference mark listed. Piston pressure is low at idle meaning the pump can be geared/ratio to higher pressures at higher rpms but what is that suspect pressure point? I would expect above 80 psi. So as Carl says bring the rpm say to 15 for as short a time as possible.. You can take compression tests to check for wall and ring damage damage, you can also pull a head cover and take a peek..
  22. A good thing Will that you acted promptly. Happy to hear she is doing well, and good to hear from you.
  23. same! My opinion is to stay away from racing specific oils.
  24. On the gen 1 there is a note to check for clogs up the oil port before the filter. Just a quick thought.. if you assume bad pressure, (I don't recall mention of a port to check pressure)? So I would check at the pressure tubing that splits to oil the heads. Low pressure will cause a noisy crank and heads as well as chain. With pressure issues the journal may be shot. Look in the engine rebuild section I believe its noted at the beginning in engine disassembly, where to check for clogs.
