coolant blowout
Patch replied to Venture Capitalist's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My first thought was like Puc suggested which would work but you would need to flush even if you pack the pre tap. Very doable. But also with a caliper you could take a solid measure then a trip to the local parts store look for a valve cover breather, a touch bigger freeze it and insert it after prepping the port. I would still look thru the coolant system tho and check that pomp out before it fails you on a trip. Then I would flush the system with a descaler and add a can of stop leak. In the late 70s & 80s this was a common practice for all aluminium engines and worked well. -
I don't know what was discussed but it seems to me that he checked all else so a replacement part is all it looks to be. Guess it a matter of shipping now..

a picture of wherre it connects to the head is needed. -
I am going to try to be brief, show coach my hEnglish/ramble is improving;) As mentioned my 1st 25 years I walked a different path. This I can say with some regret that an opportunity was afforded me by a foundation after a teacher submitted some of my work to them; in the end I refused the opportunity choosing instead to stick to my roots.. Not long after a somebody entered our lives, at first he seemed like a saving grace. I am going to use an old term here representative of our generation: he was syndicated. Well at that time I had had enough of the old man and had just taken affirmative action finding myself in between strangers and distant from my Mom; yes I am a Moma's Boy and proud of it! This new friend drove me to my block, and while leaving the 69 Vet, my neighborhood friends gathering round as he and I walk up the walk to my building,, he placed his hand on my right shoulder and stopped, "look" he said "you don't have to worry about him no more, I promise he's gone now". That man and I became tight and with each step forward and as each year passed by I grew deeper and deeper into the following 11 years. Now important to remember I wasn't a smart kid, I was a trusting one in the sense that I simply wanted to be able to trust at least someone and, I then believed he was like my father so I followed and trusted blindly! I got to know the upper etch of the group and I was trusted (I have a short story on this some where) They named me and I did as told when told, no questions and zero regard of risk. Some time past as did my innocence and, I learned to live their way which was that of 2 lives neither of which were mine to control! Then one day my eyes were opened and I was no longer able to trust this man. Now throughout I had been taking a lot of underground training and I also new how difficult it would be for me to stand against this man without, the understanding from those above. The problems were mounting quickly as did the threats, so I reached out for a sit down and explained myself. A peace was drawn, rules were set and off to our new life "family and all" we headed. But this guy would not let go of the girls. See he thought he owned us, he was a predator, sure of his ways, and had a lot of strong street muscle to back him. Before long and as word hit the street I had many looking for my help, if only just to say I was there friend. This placed a burden on me and 3 tongues to engage in, see, I would never trust going outside of my circle again, ever! So a predator is about as slick and slippery a scum the good people have to deal with regardless of your code of life! They are methodical in planning and execution; and they penetrate the trust of their subjects, in all walks of life and we see this all too often in all walks of life! My thoughts and a bit of experience

huh, so then that must be why the 2nd gen don't keep up with the 1st gens or 1.5s? Turbo Lag!

From here it sounds like you are referring to a "barb fitting" of sorts? Can you post a picture.. -
Thanks for sharing; also nice to hear your chapter has community respect. After reading this I took a quick look, found this link which mentions some of their practicals as well as some of the challenges they can face.. Like we see so often some inspire for the wrong motives which only serves to hinder the good but, the good keep om trucking;) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bikers_Against_Child_Abuse

Thank you for sharing that Mr.Dawson! I am pleased to know you are a stand-up kind of guy as well and, true not enough of us willing to get involved in what is often referred to as "not my problem" The other item I speak of is that of first hand experience tho not related to this group posted. It has to do with predatory behavior which often seeks to join groups for ulterior motives... If it were I forming such a group I would have limited access rules regarding hands on or solo time restricted to club officers... If that makes sense Again I wish them well but I assume they have already weighed the risks and are ahead of my H.V. thinking;) More thoughts?? anyone

So what you hear is with the bike stationary?

And the whole story goes somethin like this;)

Puc is 100% correct! In order for a pump to cycle it must fall within design spec - or - it will only serve to stir! That is the starting point, period In addition, this water is the incorrect fluid to use outside of emergencies. You mentioned that you add a cup of water every other... OK well water can not handle the BTUs resulting from combustion heat, for one it hasn't the density and will by it nature generate hot spots. The fact that it requires constant topping off mean that the system is open somewhere. note: we see this model at times with over limit compression readings, this in and of its self causes over heating problems, such as slow to warm then over heating, then misfires. Like puc said then again like Puc said, "always start with a compression test" cept in this case pump first;) -
I used 0-30 mobil one in our 1.5 gens and was very happy with..

Makes a fellow wonder what's in the chit they be smoken in Europe :think:to come up with a hoax like that one and, by the police to boot? Glad I knew before hand it was a hoax or might slipped some chit myself un-expectantly..lol Any body been smacked like that knows you don't land just 15 feets away tho, tho I get the need to stay within camera angle, haha.

That's what comes of not drinking

I have mixed feelings on it.. We have a saying in French doesn't translate well but... " a bad for a good" and "change the hurt place" which kind of suggests to put a new face to the bad/hurt. Sounds gooder in French;) I certainly agree that on the surface their intentions seem honorable. Groups tho can be infiltrated by others with corrupt intentions and may, take advantage by use of both the groups know reputation and what is already a victimized youth... So, I hope they have thought this thru.. Best of intentions don't always end well

SVTC Fork Brace?
Patch replied to Dhansonrrt's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Oh I see ... Of course for myself it would raise a red flag as that would or could severely effect the geometry to the front of the bike which of course would intern... You know the saying "no good deed goes unpunished". Let me give you something to think on: If your front wheel was spinning forward with some spreed (say bike is on a stand, no friction applied to the O.D.) and you were to grip the lower tube in a twisting motion while holding the other tube in position - you would in fact be applying torque to one side of the axle. Torque is a lever over rotation so you would cause a lever @ the axle which would alter angle of rotational as the torque will be aplied to the axle as a lever force (times distance) ,,, causing the wheel to follow this new introduce torque to angle direction of rotation -verses the direction you assume you are pointing it too: weird eh! If you surface mounted one say in a round clamping setup you would then need to assure and maintain position over an irregular surface/structure for the entire life or use of this modification! Or torque will lever the axle at some point;) Another way to eliminate the need for fork brace is to design the stability into the fork via tolerances and lengths through travel of the piston. Explore a bit more with you: when the bike is low mileage the tolerance should be a sure bet; over time the friction bushings will show some wear and you might experience a slight disagreement in the steering while banked over but fine when turning!? That would be to me an indication of wear in the fork lowers.. Something to think on anyways;) I could post some physics video if you'd like to understand the dynamics in more detail. Ride safe -
SVTC Fork Brace?
Patch replied to Dhansonrrt's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
I just had a quick look at the forks schematics, don't see one. May I ask what correction are you looking to make? A said brace is to prevent axle torque affect on the rotating mass (in simple terms) which is say steadying a gyro... -

It can be hard to understand without understanding capacity and current but, that doesn't mean it is hard to get the basics. Many members here can explain it better than I as combustion is my trip, so I'll blame others for me not having the crush of spark I need when I most want it.... Politely they may explain the errors of my ways or let me dangle a bit;) So think of it this way, if demand require you curl 100lbs your bicep must deliver the energy to overcome the resistance, so if it is really pessary you may use both arms to do the curl 6+6 and the resistance drops. Now for myself when I project somethin I set budgets... if I need a battery for example that isn't included in my budget I'll look to recoup the cost thru other decisions I make during the project till I'm complete... Part of the sport is maintaining a budget, not just throwing money at it!!

That's a relief Mr. Dawson cause Ms. Cindy can be very demanding; takes a trip before and after to the chiro every time;)
-
Mr. Dawson... What is going on here, do not like having my lawn mowed by trusted friends! One of my girlfriends "Cindy" has just given me the same line! If I find out she is sailing your ship...

I had some time to look up the engine you mentioned... https://tboltusa.com/store/piranha-125-engine-p-940.html I would encourage you concider the cdi TRC-9745 Here's a study link I hope you find interesting? Many of us old timers had to learn.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_discharge_ignition There is much info I see on the carb if you have any to share please do..
