In the second video you'll find the answers.

Right. That was a 9 minute video with no clear conclusion. Not so in the 6 minute video as if watch at .25 the what I mentioned is all visible. Here' the second half:
-
If the video is not viewed a .25 speed then you miss what happened. The patrol car did not cause the death of the rider! Regarding running out of gas,,, I don't think so, the bike was running fat and at WOT seemed to be running well. But it was running likely super hot, miss shifts, ignition in the pipes.... I can see why one may connect those dots. For much of this thread I've been wondering who is LEO/LEO's I get it now...lol So what about this video, was the Leo out of line or was he being played?
-
Yep, he'll be bragging all the way about how he didn't let them take him... Too many times I've heard the bragging about how some fought the law and the law won !!?? Selfish behavior even to those on the 1% side
-
No such law representative will represent my blue line with that attitude, my pen would be to support the law period. I think things are changing as we learn our and stand on our rights. If the law can't be enforced with balance then the person behind the badge is the problem. If not the pen to paper and get the code amended;)

Thanks Puc for the work you brought forward to this thread! I capped my replies as to not mistaken them only. My point is as it has always been, we cannot undo what has already been done so, if we can't undo it then perhaps we need to view it differently. The evidence is seen on the videos, the reality of Vansent's thinking at the time remains his personal property. Should of would of and could of matter not as pertains to this piece of history but; may serve a purpose as was the intent of its release, towards education and debate;) Good post Puc;)

Well speaking for myself it took these couple days to stop laughing! And cause you asked for an explanation in Henglish I thought if I tired the lights might all go out in Massachusetts, again;) Why is it these cousins of ours always pick on our Henglish Carl? Whats wrong with that side of the family...

So, why is it that so many of us that walked one side once upon a time - walk that thin blue line now with a list to defend it openly? Spence once again you inspire a story from me, tho to be truthful I have a couple around this;) A decade ago a local constable found himself in a dark yard responding to a home invasion. This was in my neighborhood, the officer gave the commands he was trained for and of course the perp feeling sure of himself went to stab the officer, the officer alone, he fired killing the perp. The following morning the airways were full of chatter "about the big bad cop"... So I took pen and paper and wrote a letter. I went to every door, and asked them to read and sign it, by noon it was delivered to the Chief with our gratitude and support for the actions of this constable! Some time later I was asked by the Chief why I did what I did; I told him about the women that instilled a right in me, I also told him about something I had never whispered to anyone ever before: "I was 14 when I drew my first serious blood; I was alone, it was dark......." Back to this video: at first I thought as you mentioned, should he be playing it differently? Do you know guys that that is not his call... It is the watch supervisors call to break off pursuit. I am on the side of a death sentence for those that deserve it but, an eye for an eye does not bring back A life. I know based on other posts of yours you likely know this too Spence. Manslaughter in this case I could not agree with either, he was following his duty as I see it. Could it have been handled differently? Yes! But Monday Morning Quarter Backing is just frustration spoken aloud.

Eh Guys feel free to vent whats on your mind on these W.H. threads I post. It's just friends sharing so there's comfort and growth to opinion, whether or not we agree with one another! So Past the bread and Ma, we need's more butter;)

A couple of things, take note of the left turn at 2:25 He is trying to run as tho he on a sport bike. this bike is also tuned way fat, my hearing pick it up; when he at WOT the bike is running in tune but, when he de- accelerates the unspent charges light in his pipes causing increased engine braking (back pressure past the exhaust valves) slowing the bike! Now just past 5:15 he blew his shift, watch him hunt with his left leg. Remember hes running gear transferred torque, the bikes mass maybe be 20% of the patrol car; the P.C. is running hydraulic torque output so he has to brake to match the deceleration of the bike,,, and not slide or loose control! Again this is just physics and we all know what its like car verses bike... I skip over inertia mass in motion blablas but there still in play.. I copied this from the YouTube page below: Also slow the playback speed by clicking on the gear settings lower right and choose .25 for speed at 5:15 and watch closely. Berkeley County Sheriff's Office South CarolinaA Berkeley County deputy has been placed on leave after colliding with a speeding motorcycle during a chase Wednesday night (Pursuit 04-19-2017), resulting in a wreck that killed the rider.Video footage, which the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office posted Thursday on YouTube, appears to show the cruiser hit the motorcycle twice during a crash that officials attributed, in part, to the rider's sharp braking. The clip does not show the deputy swerving to avoid a collision, but officials said the contact did not appear purposeful.Robert Lee Clark Jr., 30, of Giles Drive in Goose Creek lost control after colliding with the sheriff's SUV and hit another car. He died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet. He had been wanted for speeding.Marijuana also was found on his body after the wreck around midnight on South Main Street in Summerville.Deputy James Vansant is on administrative leave as the Sheriff's Office conducts an internal review of his actions, an agency statement said, and the S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck. The deputy's report and the agency's statement indicated that the collision was not deliberate. Sheriff's policy bars such contact during pursuits. "Deliberate contact between vehicles or ... ramming ... will be prohibited unless such actions are specifically authorized by a supervisor," the policy states. "Such actions may be approved only when the use of deadly force would be authorized."In a report, Vansant said he was looking out for speeding motorists on College Park Road when he noticed the motorcycle going 66 mph in a 45-mph zone.Clark didn't pull over for the deputy's lights and sirens. His motorcycle accelerated, the deputy reported. It made quick lane changes, slowed abruptly at times and ran red lights."Speeds reached ... 111 mph at times with the motorcyclist slamming on the brakes and then speeding away several times," Chief Deputy Mike Cochran added in the sheriff's statement. The pursuit stretched over eight miles and more than five minutes to South Main Street. At one point, the video showed the deputy's Ford SUV pulling close to the motorcycle. The deputy soon reported approaching another car, later identified as a Dodge Neon. The deputy said Clark was trying to pass the Neon."The motorcycle slowed very quickly and started" changing lanes, Vansant wrote. The motorcycle contacted the front right passenger side of my ... police vehicle and then accelerated."To sheriff's officials, the motorcyclist appeared to have missed a gear while shifting, causing it to slow and hit the deputy's SUV.A satellite-estimated speed reading on the video showed the cruiser going about 90 mph just before the wreck and 64 mph within seconds of the crash. The motorcycle hit the Neon and the curb. Clark was thrown to the sidewalk.Paramedics soon pronounced him dead. The county coroner later pulled a marijuana cigarette, a pipe and a few bags of the drug from Clark's clothes, the report stated. The marijuana weighed nearly 2 ounces.✋ About the video / Community guidelines ✋ This footage is NOT intended to be violent or glorify violence in any way. What do you mean "totally jammed? I'll send you any engines pics you want..
-
This video viewed at 1/4 speed shows pretty much what happened. Keep an eye at the top right for speed; then watch the left hand as the bike meets up with...
-
That works out to 5.23 lt per 100 klm. I have have seen this before and with confidence I can say, you are down a jug.
-
I thought of another thing, the hydraulic adjusters can give you a bit of a problem when the engine hasn't been run.. The problem is the nipples get plugged with oil solids from not being flushed! Now you can run seafoam thru the crank case to help resolve this it will take some time and miles but, usually they'll pump back up.. I can send a pic of one if you need to looksee

It is the nicest touring bike I have ever enjoyed, 3rd is amazing, 4th is a well tuned gear, always ready to buffer, it seems endless... But man that 3rd gear just loves to run. You'll never get the sense of exhausting it. Smooth ride and drags board willingly on skids plates. Lots of mass movin down the way, passes trucks like there standing still effortlessly even on cruise. Bars are superb, mine have some mods to grips and mirrors. The original windscreen and the only one I ever kept stock. Truly a bike for all weather riding. Now a word of caution, these engines will develop stuck rings over the resting seasons. I still have mine and won't give it up. I hear the owners group is still up, I think under new management. Yes the stators were a little light still available but, with modern lighting today not really a problem. The replacements have higher outputs but, so do they have lighter gauge, pay me now or pay me later... The T-plug we called it was a solid fix. The T-brace was also a necessary do. then built by a fellow called Tracey. The carbs are 32's so lots of torque but mileage wise not so good. These were the most expensive production bikes of their day, during the Reaganomics years and didn't sell so the 5B invested by Suzuki was a fail, I think there were 3 lockups due to the plug fail early in the launch, if you still have the rubber one then it must be changed. Cadecountry was still in business last years nice easy to deal with prompt shipping to us here in Canada.. The headrest tho is somewhat of a scrambler being the old Ford type best keep it low. One embarrassing comment about these, when they lay over, and man do they, what a Btch to stand her, she just sits there as tho she on a hidden side stand! Slow rolls is not her thing,,,lol If you need help letme know;)

You varmints been following this? The new Indian Challenger!
Patch replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
My thoughts first thing after seeing the mail this morning was to ask if the industry is moving in the right direction? Remember Busa then the metrics had a pow wow settling on outputs... Or the days of Boss! So this being spring in my mind and as is my tradition, I'll spend much of the next 3 months studying, most of which will be around combustion and, my pet peeve passive/aggressive exhaust designs, yep I'm a stickler for packing ever cc with a fresh charge;) For whatever reason Triumph hasn't been on my list of interesting advances, I have been missing out! from Cycle World: “The same sort of sleight-of-hand carried over to the Rocket III’s powerplant. Triumph revised the fuel-injection to get more midrange and ended up with 154 ft.-lb. at 2000 rpm, compared to the base Rocket III’s 147 ft.-lb. at 2500 rpm. Yes, horsepower dropped by almost a third—to 106 hp at 5400 rpm—but who cares? There’s no substitution for cubic inches (or torque), so the Touring moves out with an unexpected edge anytime you twist the right grip, most anywhere in the rev range.” I agree with the above! And to find this in a touring bike is special. Horse Power is not the trophy I look for in a build it is a consequence of… It is expensive and just keeps running cost up, my opinion. Looking up your bike I came across the new 2500cc, WOW! I will be digging into to this feat of parallel curves. I am very excited about what they’ve done and anxious to discover the fluid thinking and engineering behind it. One thing more: I haven’t been a fan of odd crank combos not just because of balance either. This gives me another interesting puzzle to work thru, altho I think I see the fluid potentials from a combustion chamber view;) Thanks for yanking me out of the closet;) -

I would enjoy a post on why you chose Triumph for sport cruising, and what type of distances make for a full days ride.. Puc know we share the thrill of rpm and a fare common ground on cooling when it comes to heat distribution;;; we'd likely then agree that Indian has a sound reason for freeing the moths from our wallets.. I have to say I haven't ridden HD since the 70's and quite frankly it bores the chit out of me to listen to beer smelling bars dripping wet with stage this and stage that like its some kind of mystical rainbow they personally discovered;; and usually from guys that can't even plug a tire to get home on... Worser than a utility bill HD seems to be, to me. Now here's our fork in the road: In touring long distance (talking to a guy "you" that has some 1M, miles) I want torque much more than HP. In my riding there is not 1/4 mile finish, no smoken tires, no show and no screaming fans and 15 or 11 secs won't make a lick of difference at the end of my day when touring! Let me pull away off the torque in the mid T range and, I'll smile all day every day out. Where we meet again is over the pounding the air cooled engines have on its oil. Riders usually do not consider how hard that oil has to work to cool the bottom half from the dark side of the crown down and up again to the heads... So for a touring I think liquid cooled is the way for me. Too many assumptions I've read in the Star Venture forum about this topic starting with "you know who" on oil requirements for an air cooled unit and, the resistance to pause and view the issues in a dynamic form instead of the a 2 dimensional text/marketing of smoke and mirrors leading to miss guided conclusions. (there now I've said it) I do think tho the Star Venture is a nicer looking bike tho;) -
I would be interested in reading about the float measurement as it pertains to economy? If anyone has a link Good model DuRon!

DuRons thread seems to indicate (as I read it) the mileage you posted is what the guys are seeing which was I think your original question.. Puc's post makes sense and, it would be interesting if you post the pics of the plugs showing cylinder number; all drag is of course wasted energy. As for advance, this is a problem we are seeing more and more as well as an increase in maintenance due to this B.S fuel. But I'll mention, you cannot change factory advance without tricking and also, I'll mention this, there is a fine line when advance works against the crank. But, and in the end what is required is solid and consistent compression heat, solid spark and, a more lean combustion especially at cruising RPM's. Shifting more often will also help deliver more torque output verses opening the throttle in cruising gear. "Inertia" a (state of mass in motion) wants to keep moving or maintain; think of it in terms of the crank, it takes more energy to get it to move (rotate) at speed then it does to keep it at speed.. 5th to 4th with just a light crack of the throttle uses the forward motion of the bike to drive the crank speed back up,,, broken down, it is splitting the load between fuel and "inertia" so throttle plate angle is kept low, velocity is kept high, driven by the combination of energy to the crank;) you should then be running leaner, less fuel more air lower ignition duration, less wasted fuel! Good to the last drop;)
-
I was waiting for you to post on the cylinder check before commenting.. But I'd likely forget what I was thinking so.. I see a loss of 17% between 40 to 34 mpg. On my gen 1.5 the very best and rarely also was 42, 38 was well within reach tho. A couple of things to conciser, what rpm range do you cruise at on this bike and in which gear? That of course assumes you have a tach Now lets look at the assumption you make above: yes there is a loss it is due to advance! I've been modelling a work around but for a carb setup this isn't easy and the TPS may offer a chance for cheating but the standard control box might disagree? Now if it were vacuum advance that would be different again; as would injection bud again that would take control tuning. So maybe the answer lies in a bolt on that will remove advance from the management fixed/limit programming? Any ideas flyinfool? Just a note: advance has to do with ignition duration, which in this case duration needs to be extended, or a sequential spark likely would do the trick and in my opinion is the better option.

Most of us know what it means to work with undersized budgets so, we get it. As with most curves life throws at us, the “what’s” are usually more obvious then the “why’s” Till nest time then cause this one is in your win column -

Eh J. sounds like you traded one pretty lady for another! My boy picked up a John Paul replica for lots of $$ we all like to pull her strings, but he insists we wash up first and no grease allowed under our nails:) With or without a bike you can always stick around and harmonize with us! -

Listen I share my experience willing, I attempt to answer the {what the fork & why the fork's} happen. Understanding the problems in detail helps us grow. Rather than being a parts changer and a mag reader I dove further into the physics, experimented, had some wins and plenty off losses; each one cost me something! Yes the hose was 37 years old as was the nipple, BUT the nipple disintegrated and the corrosion caused it to resist the hose from releasing (that's the what) the (why's) are as I posted! Now have you heard of liner pitting? Do you know how to arrest it? Do you understand the risk of it? Weather you do or not want to, the answers are in my posts. All the best;)
