  1. Plus the delivery intro-structure.. then you might get a kick out of this one:
  2. And soonish we will all be flying around in Gliders! SMR video and Sabina goes on a rant lol
  3. Seems like everything about us is getting old,Eh Dad:think:
  4. I LOVE ROCKIES :guitarist Same hear! But us "oldzimers" know to laugh secretly to not expose DAD'S delete button.. LOL Bruce
  5. I was heading East a couple years back. The morning was filled with twists, solid pavement plenty of fueling stations so we pushed hard thru the pleasures before us. Round about 2ish the skies were filling in as we pushed on. Then came light spotty drizzle at the front of a storm moving West and closing in. I enjoy riding in rain unless of course its too cold so we pull off to fuel, eat and let the rain flush the path. As we turned to walk to the diner a Wing had just parked and wow were those rookies soaked; about late 30's I guessed, 2 up and a trailer. The girlfriend got off first and went straight in, he had a story to tell a couple of oldtimers He went on to say they just picked up the bike in TO. and how heavy the rain was further down the hills. I remember this part very well as he described he was able to maintain speed at 60 but would slow thru the curves to "maybe 55" not our usual way of talking speed in these parts but... His story evolved to speak of this "******* cut me off in a curve, I couldn't see a thing past the spray" At that moment I knew not just experience decision-ed us off the floating surface oil but more like, that was where I was meant to be standing, at that time. Some might remember I broke my left foot on that 17 ride and standing there on the gravel listening in the wet... well wasn't really what I was feeling much like doing. Then came the bolt of thundering words I guess I was there to hear just as that began (just my type) walked out of the diner and stood in the huddle listening to her man as he spoke of slaying that demon spraying dragon "I kept right on the corner of his bumper making sure he could see me chasing him with my light in his mirror all the way to here" hmm I see, as I began to remove the 2 layers of leather from my right hand then placing it flat to my jacket chest high I said "see this hand, pins wire bits & pieces, and, this is just one part of what aches in this weather" - "there is no place for temper or anger on a bike - if not for yourself then for your Babe" I turned to her and said "remind your man the next time; to just let it go" Yup true story
  6. You must have seen something in the video or know of something that it implies to something that, I just am not aware of. You know me well enough that if I were to disagree with you or anybody then that is what I would have written. What I enjoy about Sabina is this woman always finds a way to work thru the mountains standing before her. An example is her mention of inbox and the the sifting thru. Like many of us she finds a humorous approach to dealing with her challenges. Strings of theories guided by logic and knowledge then shared: is a beautiful thing, is why we typically share "key molecules" as another example. If support for the decision to reject a part of the world that believes their view of us is we're unable to defend our standards and choices then; I know the club knows where and on what side I will be found.
  7. This is my fav theoretical physicist to follow. Just today she posted this thought I'd share it. She always tires to find a way to explain in simple terms, this may seem like an add but the getting to the end is the point and as usual, a way around stuff In the second video is her view on us mere men mortals lol
  8. Glad you're back, tell Tippy I've missed her
  9. Well I read the complete ............... and c and all in the name of God too. Those obligations and duties include the responsibilities To initiate, according to the laws of this Commonwealth, the impeachment and removal of both the governor and the justices of the Supreme Court who acted in concert with the governor in his continued and unlawful violations of the laws of this Commonwealth and of the Constitution of Pennsylvania and of the Constitution of the United States, and To issue a concurrent resolution of the House and Senate declaring the decision of the Supreme Court justices acting on King’s Bench authority in declaring the lawful action of the General Assembly, as contained in House Resolution 836, to be null, void, and without authority, and To inform the citizens of the Commonwealth of the serious detrimental nature in which the governor and the executive branch have operated in league with the Supreme Court justices, and I was looking for a song for this thread it took me longer than expected; then I had to choose a version that I thought might bring some pause to us! I guess that isn't likely now but here's the song
  10. My understanding is, if you come down with the symptoms and you get tested and, test positive for C-19 they ask a series of questions regarding exposure. In a case such as we are discussing the answer would likely be "yes I was at a rally" which one? Then eventually the CDC will have somewhat of an accounting of who caught what where.... And: as of today they have a new term for this type of viral transmission/catching "Herd Mentality" now like many of you, that surprised me, and of course I thought it was "fake news" but nope I saw with my own eyes a news clip and is what that very highly educated VIP that claims constantly "I know the very best people" said! NO worries Eh
  11. Mach listed that he used the gap tester Carl... Every thing highlighted in red is related to over fueling! Pull the carbs, begin loading pics and we'll walk you thru it.
  12. And check that the trunk light is off
  13. HUH let me correct that tip part: lower will bring it more stability over the potholes so less pendulum movement which may have been a reason for the abnormal wear.
  14. Your thinking on the coils align with my thinking as well and is why we look for a common thread or connection. So we were correct way back when, yeah Bongo would be pleased! Intermittent headaches what a pain! Very pleased to know you found it once and for all. Moving the switch higher for me would not be a good idea and trikes do tip and can drive themselves for long distances. Most of the time when we find ourselves in trouble, it is do to what others cause, not what we know better than to do Steamer thanks for keeping us in the game!
  15. OH Brother do I remember, Bongo and I ......... Yup so Ill think on this.question originals coils, and good voltage in? We check the coil specs but ya know what we didn't check, coil iron ground, last time we were thinking tip switch and never concluded if we could rule it out... Did you hit another bump?
  16. Sounds like you Rod
  17. OK, now it is important to accept that 170 psi is the best reading the bike has. That a Venture with only 34K only should not have the carbon buildup this bike has, period! Somebody screwed the pouch some how some way? The carb circuits are leaking or someone drove with the enricher in the wrong position the plungers are not set correctly, the needles are bad or leaking or not seating not returning, coasting circuits not closing? Resized jets? I don't know but something was very wrong! You said they were rebuilt but we do not know what was rebuilt. Maybe they have been corrected, we hope so but one thing is for sure you will not have fare performance with those carboned up combustion chambers no way no how, not to mention the difference in between 170 and 190 psi. I am going to assume that the tech bench sync the carbs before returning them to you? Also that the throttle cables allow all plates to fully close or the sync will be of no value. I reread the thread I see no mention of addressing the high compression or did I miss it? Anyways it is time to deal with #4 spark once and for all as I understand it it is the only remaining spark question. It would serve you well to get a gap tester, not expensive and answers the question with no room for doubt. You said you look at the coils, what coil setup us on that bike, 2 doubles or 4 singles? What is the voltage at the coils, is it close to battery voltage? Start with moving advance to number #2 Block any vacuum leaks correctly. measure coil voltage start decarbonizing use a proper spark gap tester Run engine in the dark and check for high voltage shortcuts
  18. I have some time right now to pitch in and will think on this, put together some ideas. The vacuum range is 5psi at around idle, as the plate angle opens the vacuum drops, and volume increases: tho on a CV vacuum actuated carb this drop is tricky: The purpose of the vacuum actuated slide is to carry vacuum long - maintained velocity while increasing volume,,, this reduces stumble by either a too rich or too lean condition! Why this works well on these bikes is it produces smooth transition response verse say a slingshot response of a pure sport bike. There are ways to adjust this throttle response but that isn't the purpose of the thread.
  19. All right young fellowand to my brothers: I am back from celebrating a fallen rider, this will be where I am at for the next week. I haven't the need to know what you have sandmen forgive my french. This bike has had a volume and ratio issue for a long time. The reason for this is not Yam's fault. These bikes produce power leanish, someone read an artical that lead them down the wrong pat. YEt 170 lbs say otherwise! So from here we must conclude there was still remains a failure. Its quite simple, one 170 is not a pair, that limits the hunt. 170 is spot on, 190 is a problem. The reason for linnets is complicated, the highs and lows produce different meanings; this is a clear case of volume and ratio. That means you have a great bik once you settle this problem. I was absolutely taken by the 86 and 90 something I ran. These bikes ae made for those that like to push, pushing means suspension and top end of lean, they are low compression engines as far as performance goes. So 2 things are wrong: you need reestablish volume and ratio. That means you need first do your very best to blast the cabon out od the jugs which includes the combustion chambers. This sounds like a daunting task but, I can assure you that I have, and it just takes a feeling and, a touch of OCDness, 180 psi will make you proud, but 10 psi is too much for a vacuum actuated CV Carb, just accept what the rules are. I the thread I posted to you you will find a set of air nozzles I use, they are not fancy nor expensive. My choice is to drop the headers and the intakes when possible, I soak as described in the "fogging" post then clean up with the air nozzles. Think a minute, idf the valves per jug are open I will clear the jug, period! This bike has a base problem, period. There are many here that will walk you thru that with pics and all the patients you can ask for, we just did so on a MK1 so believe me you are in trusted willing hands! I will continue to monitor but as I said I have somewhat of a full plate and will be heading east for a time. Every thing you need to scare the pants off of you is already here and willing members to inch you thru! That bike is a thrill when you help her find her legs, believe me/
  20. The Gen 2's out perform the Gen 1's in traffic and parking lots:12101:
  21. Here too for masks. Unlike SARS I know a different story, the flack we receive over the simplest of conversations regarding C19 is concerning in my experience. Way too many headline conversations verses "you don't say" conversations.I get that we have better things to do, the headlines really don't appeal much now, day in day out the same LP skipping over and over, seems like we have just stalled out, but we haven't, at all; there is progress and as man will be man we will overcome anything else is unacceptable. We are all on one side or at least should be, so simple easy conversations needn't lead to labeling. I struggled with my english in the first post, I hope it read as intended and not single out anyone
  22. The consistency of C19 I think is most disturbing and telling's of mankind today. We often praise our abilities to be empathetic towards one another and yet we stumble thru the most basic of conversation around this one topic. Consistently demonstrating more apathy on the subject verses the risk of balancing and absorbing possible positive potential shaping of differing opinions. The whole topic is off the rails regardless of medium; the simplest of questions cause us to dig foxholes, why is this? In an age of so much information we instead of growing, appear to be retracting. I am numbed by the amount of "fake news" comments as an explanation point to every broadcast disagreement, aren't you. I can help you pickup your fallen over bike but, I will not share opinion on the risk of doing so because: it is political or, will be. nuts right
  23. AWW Casey Because they know how you feel about them and, know we are family
  24. Rod and I have had many conversations regarding troubleshooting, he is quite diverse with regards to his projects so we click well. I had tried to set up a class with Rod for a couple of planned troubleshooting small projects to "pass it forward" to the young guys that often drop by my shop. Why, was to show how 2 old guys growing up before the computer controls had to learn logic and apply theory and, the bond that goes with old guys and old toys. That said you are fortunate djh3 to work with young minds on a regular basis, teach a man to fish is after all the next best thing to being a Father. Where many of the inexperienced fall off is not being able to visualize a problem. So what I like to do is consider myself and how difficult it was for me to absorb organized thoughts from another, at their pace. An example is Rod was holding the tissue box for me when in the space of a week I got back to burnt meters from young guys; I had had them for 20 years! lol Tho one had a 2 year theory certificate he had no practical and reversed the poles on my Tracer... I assumed and I accept that I failed him. (just to continue a sec) the boys wanted to replace the Tracer and sent me a link to what they thought was suitable, well too expensive I replied, but between us, really to complicated! lol A quick on noise: noise is read as wave forms, finding noise that makes no sense is for the more experienced and, is very difficult to teach forward. The old test lights work very well on these older rides we run. In a lot of ways it reminds me of a carpenters square. Versing hookups teaches as well as it answers. Most use or think the light can only be used on one side of the circuit but the magic is on the other side! Brightness of a light you are use to negates the immediate need for a meter, now not if we are on this side of the world and the problem on the other side, we need numbers. How many examples can you guys provide thru the use of a test light? Dim/bright and no light, what about a flashing light, what would cause that? What if the flash is consistent? (this may be best served with a LED prob) Why? testing the return side of a circuited: reverse the connections and lightly drag the tip the signal should be both audible and visual right; now you have proved the ground because you loaded it! Same condition: bright light leading to the suspect///signal should be both audible and visual after the suspect, the suspect is at fault if the light and prob don't perform as mentioned ( for whatever the reason) ! Simple and quick tricks, but when you get into it it can be fun, and can be fun to teach. Harnesses are way too often overlooked causing parts to be replaced that are not defective, especially in the modern systems.
