  1. Simple Silly, having the weight of that water 12' off the water line helps rock the passengers to sleep, also helps pitch the vessel over the waves, providing thrilling Piloting challenges and more memorable vacations stories!
  2. A couple ??? Do we know the difference between "reacted to verses Commented on" At the bottom of the threads there's a window for posting, when I click it to post, it quotes my last posting. What am I doing wrong?
  3. WOW EH, just highlight and then prompted to quote just that section as above; nice feature! Anyways Coyle I forgot to address the above: In general we refer to vacuum as any air leakage after the air box orifice ! Breaking that down is not hard to catch and understand. Today in modern mechanics we use the term "unmetered air flow" well that is a vacuum leak by mapping standards. These carbs are C.V. types, so keep this in mind: all tho the engine hasn't a "mapping" the carbs are mathematically designed for lows and highs. They are designed around Volumes and Constant Velocities and thus the jets are set to those potentials.. Basic vacuum leaks on these setups fork the whole balance off just as they need to be synced and each effects the other, a vacuum leaks throws that wrench into the mix. So any leak below or aft of the air induction is a leak that should be hunted and sorted out. A word of caution, the engine will misbehave if you rev it without the Velocity setup assembled that means air box Velocity Stacks lid and filter, so tune as you expect to run it. Take pics and post them such as the carb as is, the diaphragms the piston/slides the enricher bar when choke is off... The more we see the more we can help The slides/pistons are essential in the proper operation to these carbs. They not only put the Constant in the CV they meter as well, don't ignore what is easily addressed... And have fun
  4. Just a quick thingy: I wasn't get email notifications. So I went somewhere???? and found this below, I needed to click email notification twice to get back to the emails I was getting before the changes... (not sure sure the above is Henglish? 5. The fuel lines are low pressure less than 5 psi. Where needed tho I would use proper gas clamps over regular gear clamps. Don't forget the electrical EH, who knows when those plug/connections have been cleaned and lube last: may as well bend down and take a close inspection of the stator to rectifier white or yellow wire connections. The filter stuff I'll differ to the guys that know the model best I enjoy floor boards on few bikes but I would not of considered them for the MKII I ran, these gen I's can hunker down thru a twist pegs is in my opinion the better choice
  6. Just a couple of off the top.... The enricher may not be the problem if the rpm climb that high while cold/too quickly. I would suspect a vacuum leak. Also a possible reason for not holding idle if running to lean. Now if the enricher was not a suspect we could just point to the idle circuit, which is common issue. And attempting to fine tune with additives in the tank is pointless, get it running well enough to burn that tank, then tune with fresh pump gas, and that should be regular not high octane
  7. Now that was a great post Puc! A couple things of note: Why is a fellow such as Rod, with a smile that could charm a Princess out of her slippers, not entertaining at that time of the day/twilight? Or was Princess just off to his right? Rod you are lookin Marvelous Buddy and I miss our chats, hope you are feelin like a Champ! Make me a favor Rod: seein as you look so much like Puc (according to and in his words) would you mind sneakin into his home and whispering in Tippy's ear for me? Tell her Patch misses her, hmm I bet yo'll it would have been a hoot to attend high school with Jeff as a classmate,EH lol
  8. I am liking the new format! But I for one miss the flags. PS. Like the new aviator Carl: Marc is lookin GREAT, you need a shave tho
  9. First thing I'd like to comment on is the ease of reading in this new format... So a couple of thoughts to share and think on when coming up with the repairs: The back flow from jugs to carb blows is a bit hard to understand for me perhaps I am just reading it wrong. But the only way to the carbs is past the valve seats under the compression stroke. That said with blown head gaskets one would think that thee path of least resistance would be other than the seats. That said then likely the valve seats and valves would need facing. We have seen these bikes hit way too high compression readings, as was the surprise with Luv's bike some years back, I was amazed that the head gaskets weren't leaking or other issues apart from the per detonation it was experiencing. Bares asking what the compression number are on the jugs not yet leaking. Another concern I would have: Are the rings fractured or broken? This would also apply to ring landings. The reason being is that the bike was run on the good jugs which obviously place an compressible fluid between the TDC and chambers; that has to of had effect unless the fluid was compressed out thru and out to atmosphere. This can mean a whole host of potential issues which include journals rods wrist pins and bosses. Should you choose to rebuild I would suggest you expect to do both sides, then you will want to measure off the decks the TDC's to ensure no bottom end damage! If they show or prove spec then a washing of the jug walls will be in order to remove the varnishing cause over time and the coolant. While there check heads... Or speak to Casey about the unit he has, maybe it would be a a less expensive fixerupper just some thoughts
  10. which engine I run the old 6lt close to 400k klm.... All stock accept for updated injectors & FICM (also upgraded to 07). My numbers as is run nearly matching @ 500 HP & Torq. If I increased the exhaust pipe Dia. I would loose turbo boost causing the output numbers to drop. Yes I know lots do it but, you then need to compensate for pressure signals. If reliability is a concern (is the case for me) then I would keep the mods to a bare minimum at least on the 18, 6.7 lt. @ 450 HP and near 1000 ft. lbs. of torque. That truck is built for torque, and remember a pickup with that torque can and will leap out from under you at almost any highway speed, they are quite light in the rear when not towing!
  11. Well I puttered thru my usual pages and everything quite intuitive really, managed to PM, edit easy to read, I likes it Dad! Thanks for the share Jeff, but I thought we all agreed we didn't like Carl? He's just buried in reputation, poor little fella!
  12. Question: what is total reputation?
  13. OH MY, I knew I shouldn't have purchased these cheap street Med's,,,,, Yo'll look so frightfully pale💀 Someone tell a dirty joke please just to see if we ae still in the VR BadLands Hotel I feel a song comin on
  14. The air box should in theory only draw in fume, of course when riding you cause splash or slush in the crankcase and some oil gets drawn up the tube. Another issue that can cause this is overfilling. But we have to also consider blow-by which will cause excessive crankcase pressure. That of course does not explain the milkshake you found in the air box tho. If you are putting out white smoke from the tailpipe then you need to check compression first before you chase your tail into the dirt.
  15. I thought we knew it was the carbs? Not rereading the full thread but weren't they to fat then reduced? If you are still running at 4 turns out on 4 then that tells you there is a problem only on that circuit, right?
  16. Maybe is why it was Triked? No matter it been good except for this switch...
  17. Agreed but, what we can do and do do is change the metrics. So, we end up with higher efficiencies that is a good thing. However we do run hotter as a result and, that effects duty cycles which in turn and directly impacts maintenance and operating costs In Que. electric cars and the desire for more affordable units is easy to understand from discussing or say on an argument for or against electric powered everything: they have James Bay Hydro. Ontario has Nuclear tho I believe quite dated now? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bay_Project Getting back to the original posting tho I do believe it to be a politically based standalone statement find it hard to believe it will bare much fruit outside of stock prices; it on its own unveils no plan to achieve such a goal. (I wouldn't be surprised to hear that a plan is coming in 2 weeks tho ;)" regarding that really great video you posted I have a follow-up : Hockey Stick Mann lost and there's more.... I urge anyone looking for a fresher look at Global Warming to take 20 minutes and look up on UTube IPCC Pressure Tactics Exposed (fallow the green missing, partially missing and then when added in graph)
  18. Having just gone thru this yes it is difficult for those left behind. Given the reasons why tho I only see the courage he brought forth to relive not just himself but those he loved. For some this act is difficult to accept but accepting is what I believe is, what Zag faced in making his decision. Our Brother May You Rest In Peace
  19. And that again expands the conversation, if we build smaller displacement as measured by induction volumes are we lessening the amount of air we pollute? Yes the emission test may show well but its still not breathable. At first glance this might sound nuts but forced induction packs more air into that displacement.
  20. Jeff I disagree with your summery of the conversation. The decision is a political hot potato and not just in CA.. The reasons given to us for the need to switch to electric cars is due to Global Warming. Cars are the problem they keep telling us. If we don't understand the behind the scenes then how do we participate in the conversation and so much less the solution. Otherwise we are back to being force fed in their assumption that we are to ignorant to ask or rebut the nonsense. Fed up of politics yes we are all fed up of the relentless bombardment of sissy BS served to us like soup on paper plates but; every car MFG that did not leave our 2 countries was due to political influence before the decision was made to stay. Regardless of drive propulsion. Now if you want to talk strictly on the what if's of electric propulsion well I for one would not even dare changing a fuse on one, as that would be more than I would know about the reasons for it failing.
  21. Well thank you I think Casey There are so many ways to justify your above so yes I agree completely and yet most of us accept that there is global warming. I had a thread on this some years back here... (a point of impact) How many of us have lost sight of our 7-10 year old's only to find them within 15 minutes playing at the park or something that innocent? So how do we decide to react regardless of the relief of finding them safe and just innocent. I remember well how I used the opportunity to explain our concerns.. "see son there are some people that prey on little people/kids, like Hawks they swoop down to catch their prey, and is why we must always know where you are playing...." Now there was an unintended side effect to this example, we had very large trees by the house so you can imagine how the rest of the story goes for the following months lol Looking back who among us actually believed the Paris Accord would last? Yet somehow the world leadership at the time believed they could sell it or shove it down our throats but, the people said no, period. Who prophets from these radical initiatives? Why is it that politicians feel they can lecture us without the need for justification? A priest trying to bring change to my wildness as a youte, (as yo'll know I wasn't mush of a reader back then) and so he spoke these words that I tripped over, went something like (thou shall be content..) hmm, then went on to explain the meaning, hmm, I grew more perplexed and finally said that makes no sense to me And I pointed to a poster he had pinned to the wall of MTL. lit up at night.... more BLABLA and back to my life I went. My point is that we are being lectured to, expected to accept without challenge reason or logical debate and yet, we are the economic and tax base that bares the load of change (s) Sorry to the politicians but I remain resistant in the lack of facts as they relate to the causes. We The People will not reverse Global Warming it is as it is a cyclical cycle of this planet extensively documented and recorded thru our geological planet history. Well that doesn't read as tho I believe there is a problem or that it is in dire need of attention, right? Look, all of us cannot stop the cyclical cycles of forests burning, nor can we stop the ice fields from receding so, they should stop telling us it is our doing. Yes we can manage better, do more, try harder I am up for that but, don't waste our time with weak proposals that only serve to widen the divide on Global Warming while lining pockets. Here's one: stop the FRAFRAFRACKING hold producers accountable not just for that poisoned water but for the cost of processing to replace the natural supplies that allowed that community to settle and grow. All these VIP Climatologists flying conference to conference in their rush to get to nowhere, to lecture us on carbon footprints, well don't know about you guys but they would impress me more if they cannoned (well that's just ridicules Patch) Ya I know it is and I know why it is; so address the problem at the source - the jet engine.. OK I've gone on too long I know so just one more thing and it relates to us in Canada: I was completely embarrassed by the showing of Canadian parties leadership this week talking to us as tho we are all 5th graders. This country as in much of the world is in dire straights and that my friends lands squarely on our shoulders to correct. We need to Vote more and force change by qualifying what we accept as politicians and party leadership, my opinion. Better Casey? I am going to dig up a Sabine video around a live chat on the markers of Global Warming, for those that watch it pay close attention to Sabine's question on the vertical line, then how after the conversation takes on a different direction.. I think it was recorded in 17
  22. So HD spent lots developing the HD tone. What I have seen tho are guys that pull baffles, that is an annoying racket in my opinion . A touring bike should have a getup and go sound but not so constant that it numbs us down the road. I personally enjoy quiet bikes with a soft rumble, the HD stuff is boring, "look at me mom" is ok for those that stay close to home; that way their mom knows they are still alive and not far (did i say that aloud:think:
  23. Truth guys, I think the gov is just overwhelmed these days with all that has transpired this year ! ?
