  1. Sorry mispoke, it is leaking from right side vent tube, which comes from left side carbs. I guess I'll take it out again and try what you said. Try cleaning seat better, them run some seafoam through it, thanks for reply 😁
  2. Hey trying to troubleshoot my friends 2006 venture. It leaks gas out of carb overflow tube which comes from left side carbs alot! Took carbs out looked at floats measured, looked at seats see to look and work well. Put back together and still does same thing. Should I just tell him we need to put kit in and see if that works, or is there something else going on, would appreciate some advice.
  3. Ill bet this is a great bike, I'll never know with the $27,000 dollar price tag.
  4. Oh it makes a noise just quieter.
  5. Just another thought, would you put brand new brand pads on a rotor that has 100k on it. Something to think about when your 500 miles away from home. Here's a pic of the install, 2 fittings and attached to original lines. Pretty simple.
  6. 1950's technology vs. State of the art solid state technology, just saying I'd rather go with the new.
  7. Yes it has the pressure relief valve and check valve to keep it from back flowing, like I said with fittings and a little common sense engineering it works better than original and will last allot longer
  8. I just replied to another post regarding a fuel pump. Really don't waste your time fixing the old ones, join the twenty first century and Install an electronic fuel pump. Mine crapped out on me last year and I bought a Facet fuel pump from Aircraft Spruce for $50 bucks you have to buy fittings they will fit application. Here are the specs. These pumps measure less than 3" in any direction and weigh only 18 oz. Fuel is supplied as soon as the ignition is turned on so the engine will start faster at colder temps. Built-in pressure relief prevents flooding and assures fast re-starts on hottest days. The all-steel plated case is water tight. Mounts with two bolts. For best results, mount the pump close to the fuel tank and below the liquid level. The tank is self-priming to 12" to 36" Lift min dry. Standard 12 V models require only 1 amp at max. delivery. Many models are available, but these are the ones recommended by Rutan Aircraft Factory, Stoddard Hamilton and many other aircraft designers. All of the pumps shown feature the all nylon valve and plunger as specified by Rutan Aircraft in the Canard Pusher newsletter. Fuel Compatibility: All models of the Facet® CUBE® Fuel Pumps are compatible with gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, blended alcohol fuels and fuel additives. Solid State Reliability: Proven on thousands of original equipment applications. No electrical contacts. No bearings or diaphragms to wear out or fatigue. Lasts four to five times longer than many other electric fuel pumps. Easy to Install: Two-bolt installation plus the small size makes installation easy. For best results, mount the pump close to the fluid or fuel tank and below the liquid level. Eliminates Vapor Lock: When properly installed on most vehicles a constant, smooth, dependable supply of fuel under pressure is assured in the hottest weather or in high altitudes. I'm telling you there isn't a better fuel pump out there that fits out application. Mine has worked great for over a year now.
  9. Really why waste your time with those old antiquated fuel pumps. Really, a year ago my 06 fuel pump took the old proverbial dump and I orderd the facet 40171 from aircraft spruce installed the fittings that are required and from there you never have to worry about points again, all for about $60 bucks, no brainer in my mind.works a lot better than that old piece of scrap that was on it originally. Here's the specs the Mr gasket does not have all the options that the facet does. These pumps measure less than 3" in any direction and weigh only 18 oz. 10. Hey I live near Rexburg here idaho, let me know when and where and I'll see if I can swing up that way.
  11. Thanks for your comments, not that there are that many old seats lyeing around but it may be of use for those of you that ride two up and the wife complains about the wind, like you said if she's not happy nobody's happy.
  12. Basically I just took the seat I bought off eBay for $35 took a turkey carving knife and cut the original foam about in half, then glued a 5/8 gel pad cut to fit, then covered with forming foam, then my black covering. Like I said it dropped her down a good 3". She says she is down out of the wind now, and says it is a little firmer but just as comfortable.
  13. My wife is nearly 6' 1", so I needed to get her out of the jet stream. I purchased a seat off of eBay that was damaged. So abbreviated I cut it almost in half put on a 5/8 inch gel pad, covered with what they call forming foam, then I sewed my own seat cover out of marine grade seat material. It looks and works very well, it got her 3"s lower which is what I was going for all along.
  14. My 06 has 41k
  15. My first bike I ever had that I bought on my own, was a 1971 cb 100 Honda. I used to drive it out to the farm to move pipe before I even had a licence.
  16. Well that too. No my star raider as in bike has kind of loud pipes, so I have been told. Lol
  17. I like my venture quite and my Raider loud!
  18. I also have a raider and the belt squeaked on it. All we had to do was tighten the belt and it went away.not saying that would work on the Indian.
  19. This is what I would have in my garage if I could afford it.I think it would make a great alternative to the venture.what do you think?
  20. Mine failed and I replaced it with the facet. It has the check valve and is also solid state no points to go bad. You have to modify the connection points but it's not hard and it works great.200. Look for a solid state pump sold for old VWs or jeeps. Here are a couple of links for replacement pumps under $50: Autozone 4-7 PSI NOTE: since this pump is double the pressure of the stock pump, I would not use it unless I could not find any other. Autozone 2-3 1/2 PSI JCW 1 1/2-4 PSI JCW 1 1/2-3 1/2 PSI Mr. Gasket 42S, Mr. Gasket Electric Fuel Pumps | Mr. Gasket http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...facetpumps.php Parts 40105 and 40171 https://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/C...067330545&An=0 General note on available pumps - most (probably all) of these pumps are Facet brand fuel pumps, and the correct Facet part number is 42S (also goes by 40105). Facet has recently replaced their old cube pumps with new Posi-Flo pumps, and the correct part number for the Posi-Flo is 04S (also goes by 60104). Either part number may be preceded by "PRO" or "FEP". Also note that the 40171 pump is the ONLY one that has both a check valve and positive shutoff, so it would be the best choice for use on a motorcycle that does not have an automatic fuel shutoff when the engine is off (such as ours). All of the other pumps all
  21. I bought my 2006 black cherry last year in 2013 which had 36k for $6000, beautiful well cared for bike,I thought was an amazing deal. I've already put 4k miles on it.
  22. Raider58

    Why?

    Who's on first?
  23. that's Not sure where you bought your rotten Avons but that's all the riders that have Raiders like me will buy. For the Raiders they are the smoothest, longest lasting tire out there, not the venoms, but the cobras. I had them on this bike when I bought it and they were junk.
  24. Good choice read my other post. I think a lot of these other guys no offense I hope, are just afraid to try something new. These Michelins have newer technology and more of it,I have tried avons, dunlops, shinkos,Michelins, and besides the Avon cobras these Michelins are the top,try em you'll see.
  25. I just put the Michelin on mine, never really got to ride much before cold, but from what I did I really liked it.it seems narrower than the avons that were on it.I have the Michelins on my Raider and love them they were like like no other's except for the avon cobras.
